So the other Monarch item was kind of deck-ish. A oversized tuckbox that comes with and holds 4 regular size Monarch decks. I can see it not appealing to everyone, but it does look pretty nice.

The other photos of the Red Monarchs (on the store page) do look nice though I'm curious to see how they turn out in person. I can wait to get them though I'm really honestly curious about the other decks that Theory11 has down the pipeline for this year.

This other photo from their Facebook page looks like it could be a new special edition of the deck. At the bottom where the text is cut off, the regular Monarch tuck box just has scroll detailing. I guess we'll all find out in less than 12 hours.

Then why do you guys hate on the big guys when they release colour changes? Calling those money grabs and Paul a justified business model. You cant pick and choose. Goddamn hypocrites.

I don't mind a colour change, but it depends on the colour. I just don't buy that I don't like. I think the difference is that Paul didn't intentionally create a v1 and v2 tuckbox on purpose to sell. The original tuckbox was scratched up pretty bad due to the metallic on the side of the box during USPCC's process so Paul ended up sending back most of the shipment of Deco playing cards to get the box design fixed up and re-printed. It ended up be an accidental and he took advantage of that.

I think the Red Monarchs do look spiffy!  :)

To me, the red does look really nice. The new photo on their Facebook page of the tuckbox looks pretty great. It's a nice deep red.

edit: I thought I should include the photo.

Ultimately, if you don't want it, don't buy it. I think for the Deco is was an accident how things worked out with a different tuckbox and not the fault of Paul. He put out a call for those interested in buying a very limited deck due to circumstances. I'm one of his Kickstarter backers and didn't think it was worth the price tag. I'm quite fine with the regular 2nd print of the tuckbox.

I think you put it best, Don. Paul is a businessman. He's offering something cool and interesting and if people want it, they can get it. It wasn't like he went down his backer list and force the first 50 people to pay him more for the first print Decos. I'm happy being a mere-mortal collector.

I think it's a fine balancing act. Like Lyle said, the company's purpose is to make money or else they won't be around for long, but equally they still do have to please their customer base. If a company alienates it's base too much then it ends up driving away those willing to give them money and they die out. Ultimately, I find the best way is to speak with your money. Don't like something, don't buy it and enough people do do that, a company will realize it (hopefully).

...

The other Monarch release is really cool, but the real highlight of the day will still be the Red Monarchs. The other release has a specific focus, and I don't know that you here will be that focus. Maybe you will be. It is regardless an awesome product, but I wouldn't worry too much about it until you see it on Thursday. This sounds weird, but you will understand once it is released. I'll pop back and answer any questions about it after the release if you have any.

...

I'm wondering if the other Monarch release is a Monarch gaff deck by Lyle's remark that it has a specific focus and maybe it's something the card collectors might be less interested in.

According to their Facebook page, it looks like there will be another "special edition" of the Monarchs that will launch alongside of the red Monarchs on Thursday. I'm curious as to what it is. Maybe Titanium Monarchs?

Thanks Nurul for finding that info.

For a moment I thought it was Japanese yen and not the Chinese yuan. Now if it was yen, that'd be about 50 US cent per a deck. Now that would be amazing. Chinese yuan makes that roughly 7.50 USD.

It looks like it could be an Asian market only special Bee deck. I know the Bee deck is pretty popular over there and that write up on the ad card does lean a bit towards it a bit. If it's legit, I would like a deck. That tuck box looks like it might be a nice textured heavy duty card stock. Otherwise, I'm going to wait until Don swoops in with his encyclopaedic knowledge of playing cards.

The thing is that we all know what happened to those series...

Cult Classics? Lol

3 classic go 2 decks getting color change's. Between Rounders, Monarch's and now what looks to be purple S&M, I don't mind it. At the same time, I hope that does not give other companies ideas. I know there is a deck or two that come to mind that have wore out it's recolor welcome. D&D releasing a color once a year, is tastefully done. Changing color 5 times in 12 months like an unnamed company, kills a brand.

I guess this is side tracking a bit, but what company did 5 colour changes within a year?

I have to admit, I'm waiting for Fulton's Smoke & Mirror, the ultimate D & D deck.

Some cards arrived in the mail today:
Whispering Imps (Black and Red Edition)
Artifice v2 (blue and green) Infinity (v1 tuckbox)
Federal 52 and Federal 52 gold certificate, both branded and unbranded (this arrived a bit ago but though I'd share)

Nice stash there bhong! Love the Imps......so many cards, so little money, LOL
.........nice Fake N Genius also kd!

"so many cards, so little money." ... ah, you said it best right there, Sparkz. The only good things about Kickstarter decks is that I've paid for them awhile ago so I keep forgetting the price so it feels a bit better, which sounds really delusional  :)

ruicorreia, thanks for the second confirmation about the "shipped email". I'm going to politely contact them again to see if anything's been shipped. We just need teleportation technology so everything can magically appear right away.

EDIT: so I finally got a shipped out email today though no actual real response from DB customer service. At least my cards are on their way after the long wait.

So I finally decided to order Silver Split Spades from David Blaine's site (especially after hearing Don mention them earlier in the month). So my question to anyone who's order from the web store before is do you get a "your item has shipped" email (I did get a order confirmation e-mail, but almost everyone these days do sent an additional one for when the items are shipped)? I tried politely email customer service about it, but never heard back at all. It's been about almost 3 weeks so I was just wondering if I should worry a bit or not 'cause I haven't gotten my decks yet. It's USPS Priority International shipping to Canada and I live in one of the few major cities so I would have figured I should have gotten the decks by now.

Any answer or help from anyone would be much appreciated.

I've made an order to DB webstore, but after payment I got a email

"Order confirmation for order #xxxx

Thank you for placing your order with David Blaine's Official Merchandise!

This email is to confirm your recent order."

After that, I've got this email :

"David Blaine Customer Service

Order ID: #xxxx

A package from David Blaine was shipped on xxx via USPS to the following address: ....

Here are your Delivery Confirmation ID(s)
https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction......."

So, be patient, everything is fine...I hope :D I've been waint a little longer but I was worthed.

LE. I've got something signed by David Blaine so I was patient and wait for that ;)

Thanks mirciusx. I guess that's the thing, I NEVER got that second e-mail even after all this time, which is what I wanted to know about. You have to admit it's been almost three weeks and, in theory, my items aren't shipped.

edit: Thanks again, too, for confirming that I should be expecting that "shipped" email.

I've ordered the White Lion Series and everything was normal.
One of the times they made a mistake: they declared $100 on the shipping invoice and I had to pay import fees. I've complained and they were really great, and compensated me for my loss.

ruicorreia, do you remember getting a "shipped" email? That's the thing I want to know so I can start estimating from that date to know when the items would be considered late.

366
My decks arrived in excellent condition. Fast service and excellent communication on everything.

367
Don, that's got to be the best story about customer service fixing something I've ever heard. I use to think that my story about getting the bank paying me 100$ back for their mistake was something.

I email them twice (on the 14th and 23rd) just double checking about whether I was suppose to get a "your item has shipped" or if they'd be shipped yet. I haven't heard back from either time and the 14th to now is a pretty long time, but I've got my fingers cross that maybe the emails got lost or something and the decks are somewhere in transit. I'll wait until next week before trying again if they haven't arrived.

I thought about Facebook, but it looks like the PM for them is disable ... :(

Couple recents here...
First pic are Maeda Red and Light Blue
Second pic is a deck of Silver Monarchs made for the restaurant Eleven Madison Park in NYC.

Is there any special besides that tuckbox for the Silver Monarchs for Eleven Madison Park?

I just remembered the name of the man who helped me out at DB. 99% sure it was Doug McKenzie, the magician/consultant. I believe I contacted him through the Theory 11 forum, after seeing his name in a customer service response from the DB store. I don't know if he is still helping DB with the shop though.

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but Curt.....he told you his name was Doug McKenzie and your from Canada?!........am I the only one who finds that humurous? LOL

I'm sure it will all work out bhong, it's not like you ordered them from Joes Card Emporium  ;)

LOL ... Yes, it's pretty hilarious.

I paid through Paypal so I figured if worst comes to worst, I can go through them, but here's hoping my shiny-shiny cards are in my mailbox for me tomorrow or next week.

370
I'll keep that in mind though I did a quick check and the last time Doug McKenzie was on the theory11 forum was well over a year or two ago ...  but I'm probably over-worrying and jumping the gun. I placed my order on the 9th of October and if it's shipped next business day (10th), tomorrow or Monday is within the arrival timeline of "7-12 business days".

I just honestly wish their CS team would reply back. I think over a 5 business day is a long time not to hear back from customer service of any company even small ones.

371
Just a few decks are limited, like Sultan Treasury which is limited to only 2 decks per person. Same Black Artifice, only two + one deck from BC membership and so on...

Otherwise I don't know what to do...one or two blue or only one and wait for a better deal to Black Friday?

But no one answered to my questions (about the book, your thought about this colors) ...thanks!

It might be wise to wait. No guarantee what deal they'll have, but when I just missed out on the "Halloween Tricks" promotion Ellusionist was running. I emailed their customer service team about if I still could get in it. I was told I couldn't since they had to be really strict about when something is bought to qualify for it, BUT I was told they'd be having a Holiday Promotion that's "supposed to be the best one yet" that's suppose to be out Mid-November (maybe) but I guess take that with a grain of salt.

I honestly wish the Blue Rounders were unlimited. I'm really liking the shade of blue.

372
Thanks for sharing the experience Curt. I emailed them on Labour Day Monday this past September doublechecking to see if I could still get in on the Labour Day Weekend promotion they were running. I got a reply on Tuesday, which I thought was the norm since many companies have customer service response within 24 business hours.

I guess I got something to look forward to see if I don't receive my decks by December ...

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Black Artisan - second edition
« on: October 18, 2013, 11:37:45 AM »
I got some black and whites in June, and they all have the (04-13) seal on them.

Sell Out of the black first edition while having both white and black editions printed. That must be a pain in the ars having to edit the seal and AOS everytime t11 wants to get the deck reprinted. The reprints were probably because of the debacle of the first tuck boxes. Now the white and black are of the same composition.

I'm just wondering, do the 2013 prints use double cellophane as the 2012 first black edition's did?

Double cellophane? I don't remember that for the first black editions. I remember just single cellophane unless there's a different between the luxury edition?

Playing Card Plethora / Black Artisan - second edition
« on: October 18, 2013, 02:28:44 AM »
I don't know if there's a thread about this yet or not, but recently I picked up the Master Collection of uncut sheets from Theory11. When the sheets arrived, I noticed that the Black Artisan looked quite a bit different from the deck I have. The Ace of Spades has a different date on it (04-13) instead of (11-12), the back of the card has the same changes as the White Artisan and the big different, that grabbed my eye first, is that the metallic ink is silver instead of gold (see photos).

I emailed them about it and apparently when they were doing a second print run, they went ahead with adjusts to improve the design (less green looking and thinner borders).

Anyone actually have a deck of these yet? It's also suppose to have that newer date on the seal as well. Personally, I like the newer version of the Black Artisan, but if that's what they're shipping out when people order, I'd wish they'd put some kind of disclaimer on their site. It's noticeable different.
