Hi guys!

I've been re-working my pixels deck, and have finally come up with this. What you guys think? Any tips or suggestions?

There's not a lot here to comment on yet.  I will say that the art is VERY dark.  Insufficient contrast will print out too dark to be clear - you'll lose a lot of detail.

Bear in mind, there's been a LOT of pixel decks on the market.  If you aren't going to do it head-and-shoulders better, and/or in some way special/different/unique, consider shelving the idea and doing something else.

Thanks for the input Don, you are totally right on the lighting, it does need to be clearer. I will be making them brighter once it gets to the printing stage.

Well, based on some other input I received I'm making the courts two-way, it's gonna take a while, but here's what I have so far.

oh, and about shelving the idea, I get it, and yeah the pixels + playing cards audience might be a little small, as I found out with the first kickstarter. But abandoning the idea now is not an option, I started them and promised everybody who backed the first kickstarter that I'd remake them for a relaunch + I'm invested in them personally, so even if they're not a big hit, I want to make these happen.  :D

Normally, I wouldn't recommend this, but under these circumstances, you should gauge the audience for this deck and if it appears small, use MPC to make it.  They're not the best, but they're not the worst either, and they can make a print run of pretty much any size you want, right down to a single deck - though of course, smaller print runs have a higher per-deck cost.  And you'll want to VERY much brighten the art if you print with them; the process they use (digital printer) tends to leave the art darker than it appears on-screen.

Two-way courts are NOT mandatory by any means, especially when making an art deck.  It's really up to the designer (and the audience he wants to target).  This IS an art deck, even if the art is in the style of an '80s video game sprite.

  • Charm gets you quite far. Guile gets you the rest.
I might remove the illumination coming off the weapons, it isn't done in a pixelated way and makes the image look kindof muddy.
Kickstarter completely revolutionized the way I waste money.

The people who handle playing cards are always in a world of delicate fingertip technology.

Hey, I just wanted to say. That im one of those backers for KS, glad to see your still giving it your best and as for the art I still really like it, looks better in fact. And as for who you get to print the cards, well... Quality is always nice but for a deck like/ I got hooked on it for the art not so much the idea of using them. I'm not saying I wouldn't mind if they were the most fantastic quality but it was never a major concern to me.
