Just got these in the mail... an advanced-preview deck for members of Ellusionist's Black Club.
Bottom of box lists both Ellusionist and "Madison Presents".
Without further adieu, here's my review for The Lions Den Casino & Lounge deck:

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

Nice review, lovely ending - "...and, uh, yeah..."  :))

That extra card you have no idea about?  Looks like a matching cut card to me.  Casinos using cards in single-deck games will place the deck on top of a cut card and pick the whole pile up before dealing - the cut card prevents the bottom card of the deck itself from being visible.  I think it also was used in large deck shoes to function as a divider - a point at which to cease using that shoe and to move on to a new one, thus preventing card counting from being as effective.

I like that you were brief and to the point.  The fact that you have a few skills with card handling doesn't hurt, either.  I remember seeing 10-minute reviews for decks that were so long and so boring, I gave up two minutes in.

Thanks Don!  :)  That makes sense about the cut card.  I do remember now having seen those a couple times in the past.  Although I've never actually played cards in a real casino... haven't even been to Vegas yet!

I'm very happy E restrained themselves from including an ad card in this deck.  And yes I do try to keep the reviews from becoming too long.  If anything I probably risk too little information, but I'd rather err on the side of brevity.

Any opinion on the royalty-free music I'm using during the "deck in action" segment?  I'm trying out YouTube's music adding feature... but the choices are rather limited.  I still haven't decided which is less painful:  awkward silence or the music I used.

The music's not obtrusive.  That's about the best you can expect from royalty-free, really.

If you're torn between background music or music-free, try editing a complete video before adding a single note of music and see how it sounds to you.  Then add the music and compare.

Royalty free and common licensed music made for background music on video sharing sites like youtube.
I like to call paper coatings a finish. It makes Don happy.

Nice review, FFN. Concise and to the point.

Personally speaking, i really like the black and metallic gold court cards. A very nice touch.

I'm trying to find details of his unreleased Steelers. However, this forum is huge (and extremely informative) and the search facility returned no results.

Is there a thread?

I don't think there is.  The Search function is a bit peculiar at times.  When searching the whole forum, the best way to get a broad range of results is to search from the home page.  If you do a search from a specific board page or topic page, it might only search that board or that topic.

I didn't find anything when I searched.  Do you have an idea as to when they were produced and by whom?  It could narrow the search parameters.

ADDENDUM: try looking here.  He has a deck on his FB page.  I'm betting they're due out soon from E.

Yes, no doubt they are produced by Ellusionist under Madison Presents!

Thank you ever so much for that information, Don!
