Looks like Gandalf on the tuck.  :)
I like the courts but not the backs.

Some very nice artwork on these, I like the "Painted" look of the courts and the Norse history attached to the characters. Very detailed Pip design also, each one different, but they look like they belong together.

Looking forward to seeing more!

The cards are nice, but I on his video I think he needs a different background music than (White Noise Deluxe Version v2)  Maybe some Celtic music that is not copyrighted.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7B1OAtD_VIA

I really dislike it.
1) the court cards have too much negative space in the non-indices corners. It looks blank and empty.
2) the card backs look...almost muddy. Not sure how to explain it, but it looks like they had a nice design and then made every line twice as thick as it should be.
3) the pips are alright.

First of all, the theme is Norse mythology, not Celtic.
Second, are you backing the deck or the soundtrack?  WHO CARES what the music is?

I like the negative space.  Remember the Magic-Con v2 deck had a fair amount of negative space, as the the Bicycle Amazing Adventures deck and the T11 Sentinels.

Those thick, "muddy" lines?  That looks like traditional Norse art to me.  They often used lines of this thickness.  Look at the close-up section that shows one portion of it - the detail work is pretty solid to my eyes.

My only gripe, and it's minor, is the lack of a thin border on the back.

I really like them. Excellent painting skills, the handling of light is superb.

Only thing I'm not sure of is Hugin and Munin as JoS.

Is the funding goal a bit low?
And $14 for shipping? Have the shipping cost really gone up that much?

Odin has actually been around a little longer than Gandalf and many make the comparison since in his wanderer guise, Odin was an old man with one eye, a long white beard, a wide brimmed hat, and a staff.

I actually thought the two birds as the Jack was pretty inventive.  It's like how Dan and Dave appear as opposite heads of a king in some CARC decks.  Don't ask me which King, I can't recall, but I can say definitely that the KS is David Blaine and the KH is Bill Kalush.

  • Charm gets you quite far. Guile gets you the rest.
Really like the Norse theme; something I've always loved. Will be keeping a close eye on this one.

The negative space isn't working for me either but it's not ruining the deck, the one problem I have is the indice pips being squished horizontally. It looks terrible next to the full pips, it breaks the aesthetic 4th wall for me and all I can think is that it was a lazy compromise.

Kickstarter completely revolutionized the way I waste money.

The people who handle playing cards are always in a world of delicate fingertip technology.

You're right - it looks like he was trying to make the index pip as large as the index value - in a standard deck, it's only half as high.

Yes it does look kinda strange. It seems to be much more prominent on the clubs.

I'm just so used seeing them on Odin's shoulders, I think. It makes sense, in a way, to have them on their own separate card, I guess, considering their importance to Odin.. And I can't think of any other god to have there, at the moment, either. Maybe Sleipnir and the wolves should be there, too? Nah, that would make it too crowded.

Love the court cards, apart from the amount of negative space, but the back and tuck are kinda meh to me.

That would be a better way to depict them, to have Hugin on one side and Munin on the other to make it more like a traditional court. I don't mind non-traditional, but it should be consistent. As they are now, they stick out a bit.
