Howdy folks.  I am new to the forum and new to deck design.  I have a KS campaign up at the moment which isn't doing as well as I would like and was recommended to the forum for design help and that sort of thing.  I am an independent game designer/artist and am interested in designing all sorts of decks of cards.

My current campaign is here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/talkingbull/zombies-of-kickstarter-deck-of-playing-cards

Most of my work is on TheGameCrafter.com and I go by TalkingBull Games on the site.  Working on developing a website and have a rudimentary one at www.talkingbullgames.com but I never have time to work on it.

Anyways, this is me and I'm glad to join a community of designers & collectors!

Welcome aboard.
There was a thread started about your project else ware in the forum. There is a lot of other designers here, and they can be brutally honest. However if you ask for help, they are very happy to do so. Just take it all with a grain of salt. My suggestion is to go to the topic and ask away. Good luck.

Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

Welcome TalkingBull, me heepum big developer.  Sorry, really bad John Wayne reference.

I believe all designers are required to produce a Zombie deck.  It's a right of passage.  Some are good, and some suck.  There is an audience as it is a popular meme, but as we all create one you'll find very little response for funding unless it's so new and unusual that people can't help to take down their desiccating piggy banks and slam down money to get it.  Also, people want complete decks.  You can offer to modify already complete cards, but no one wants to pledge on an idea.

I'd say, take what you've learned from your first project and think about designing a deck that no one has done yet.  You can use the forums here to flesh out your ideas and give you input on what works and what doesn't work.  Then polish your deck and put it up on KS, you'll find a much better response if you do.

Welcome and good luck.

Thanks everyone :)  I actually found this board when I googled my campaign to see how it appeared on Google, saw the posting, read it, and emailed the author.  Got some good insight on why my campaign wasn't going anywhere which is disappointing but I guess you live and you learn.  Bottom line, I need to display a completed deck.  The annoying part of that though is I have a complete Zombie deck.  I wish I had found this board sooner so I would have known it would be better to add the perks to replace the cards and still show a finished deck.

I hired a consultant who ripped me off...  He didn't advise me in that direction... Kind of wary of paying someone for that type of service again since it wasn't provided in the first place but I am glad I found this forum so I can bounce ideas off of people in the know.

..and I am the author of which you speak!  Welcome to the Discourse.  Generally speaking, we are a friendly and helpful bunch, we don't usually bite and we never break the skin when we do...  :))

I'd say go over to the Design and Development board and make a topic for spitballing your ideas - but not before you check out at least some of the topics there already, to get a feel for the place.  Most importantly, have some fun while you're here!
