Still plenty of time left but I gotta say three downloads in and meh.  I'm not overly impressed with them to this point.

I've not checked out the 3rd download yet, but the first one was ok. Pretty creative and a few ideas were thrown in there. IMO, I think the 2nd download is absolutely terrible.

EDIT: saying terrible is harsh, but I really don't think anyone is going to use it in the real world. The idea isn't great. As far as I know, this only applies to the US as I I've not seen hard and soft candy of the same product in the UK

Actually, I remember there's a food/candy retailer here in the States...  Their schtick was importing and exporting - they'd bring goods from Japan, England and Australia here to sell to ex-pats in this country and ship American-made goods overseas to Americans abroad who can't find them where they are.  There's got to be some service like that which you could access, if you were so inclined.

I can imagine such a trick would be nearly useless to someone out of the country, but they work with what they have, and they're in New York.

*My take so far...

Week 1
Nice, albeit basic, effect.  Deftly performed and adapted to create a solid quick performance.
3.5 out of 5

Week 2
Childs play.  Feels like something I may have done as a kid for my parents.  Whether this product is available to you or not...
.5 out of 5

Week 3
This tutorial is readily available for free on youtube.  Only moderately interesting and not really the least bit "magical".
1 out of 5

Again there's plenty of time to make this worth the price of purchase.  One excellent effect and one solid worker would do the "trick".  I'm sure I can find a way to mix week 1's download in on occasion along with another that may be yet to come.  But to reiterate, to this point, MEH.

* My take is probably not worth a whole lot as don't perform regularly, just on occasion for friends.  With that being said I also feel like I know what looks good to me as well as what smells like shit.

When I get home and I'm on my own computer, I'm going to split this topic - stuff about the NOCs and buying the Summer Club will stay, stuff about the magic will go to the Bonanza.

Just checked, there have been only three to date.  I even made sure none were in my spam folder.

EDIT: TBC announced today via email that they're having technical issues with the Summer Club videos, but to make up for it they're offering Summer Club members one free video, your choice from their whole collection except that it has to be a download-only product, not something for which they have a DVD version.

OOOH.  That's excellent.  So, Don, what you suggest to a novice like me.  I've been thinking of getting a trick or two from them and now I can for free.  Maybe your top three suggestions.  I really wanted to get Alex's Diagonal palm pass but its DVD.  Thanks.  BTW, a very nice gesture from TBC team!

EDIT:  DPP is a download also.  Leaning toward that but I'd still like your input.

The offer specifically mentioned that if a download is also available on DVD, it was not part of the free offer.

If you want to try coin magic, anything by David Roth is worth watching - he's the greatest coin man alive today.  He's also a really nice guy.  I was at one of his lectures and his level of mastery is stunning; even after knowing how he did it, it still floors you.

The video for the Hucko Steal sounds good - 10 sleights and four routines in a single download.  That sounds like good bang for the buck.

I like Chris Mayhew - his Commodore 64 and Casino Royale with Cheese are pretty good tricks.

I also like Feldman's Manhattan Opener, but if you're getting the Trade Secrets DVD, don't get Manhattan - it's on the DVD.  (Plus that might disqualify it, I don't know.)

Goldfarb's Golden Touches also looks like it might be worth a look.  Tricks are one thing, but learning sleights to me is more valuable - a good sleight can have many applications to it, not just one trick and done.  Golden Touches teaches three sleights.

Lastly, Pandrea's Monet is really impressive and can be used in multiple ways not just as a trick but as the closer to a different trick - he teaches a few really good color-change sleights.
