Apparently David Copperfield helped come up with a lot of the tricks in the movie.

It's not everyday that Hollywood does magic.

Thoughts?

Want to see, but haven't.  "Now You See Me" looks like more of a thriller.

Hollywood does magic all the time - but of a different sort...  Straight up stage or street magic, not so common.  Sounds like untapped potential beyond a comedy and a heist movie.

Imagine a film done like the first "Ong-Bak" movie - it was a powerful martial arts film where none of the techniques were done using any kind of special effects, wire work, etc.; what you saw is what actually happened during filming.  A movie on magic/magicians where every single trick was the real deal - that would be something to see.

It's what makes street magic so appealing - the audience is arm's reach away, so hiding anything becomes difficult without good sleights and misdirection, and there's zero chance of special effects or camera work getting in the way of the audience experience.  What's seen becomes more powerful and more real.  Tricks that to us seem so simplistic to them are mind-boggling and astonishing.  I know I'm a novice magician at best, but most of the people I perform for think I'm some miracle worker.  I'd like to see THAT captured on film, with a real plot and real characters behind it...

This is the first comedy for me of this nature, that's also poking fun at the Vegas magic scene. Most magic movies seem to be half thrillers like the Prestige.

I'll definitely have to stop by one of the theaters in town to see the movie. Saw the trailer for it a while ago and totally forgot until I read this thread. The last couple of magic based movies I saw, The Prestige and The Illusionist, where pretty enjoyable. I do agree a comedy will be a nice change though

- stay classy with the cards-
- it's not the card that does magic, you do the magic-

It was kinda lame humor, though I loved the magicians stuff.
Do you guys even read this? Like I could have the meaning of life here and I doubt you would know it.
