  • Ugh, I wish I had money for THAT deck!
Wow this deck looks awesome. I love the super detailed and 3D courts. I think I'm going to have to back this deck! I like the fact all other cards haves background image to them. I feel it adds a nice amount of character to the design.

Welcome, Ned.  Consider yourself invited to look around, check out the other topics, drop some comments - the gang would enjoy hearing from you.  I'd recommend starting with a new "Introduce Yourself" topic.  Oh, and of course, drop some info about your project every now and then, especially if you've got big news, discounts, what have you...  :))

Enjoy the wacky emoticons!

I just realized that while we we discussing the timing of the KS launch, we never really posted the larger close-up images of the courts or backgrounds.  Personally, I think they're gorgeous, especially the backgrounds ... a definite nod to the Mucha art deco style.  And the suicide king?  Mimicing Socrates. :-)  Project creator says he going to modify the currently-posted back.

In addition to the redesigned backs, we will be announcing our Jokers soon!  A brave and beautiful card collector (serving his country in Afghanistan!!) pledged at the co-designer level just yesterday.  He is in talks with the artist now!   ;D

Especially now that we see the redesigned back ... this is a stunning deck of cards, with proper indices, two-way back, USPCC, custom courts, unique pip layouts and ... just a gorgeous look.  I am amazed that this isn't fully funded yet.

On the other hand ... the new back has only been out for a few hours. :-)

Very creative deck, it's nice to see something come along that is a bit different compared to the more standard styles of custom decks. Good luck on reaching the goal!

Frankly, I am STUNNED that this deck is not progressing towards full funding.

Graphically, this deck is a level up from so much that *does* get funded.  OK, so it doesn't have skeletons or steampunk or zombies or other things that follow the fad of the day.  They're just strikingly beautiful.  They also have almost every single thing that the cardist market seems to be asking for.

What is making people look at this and say "not for me"?

Is it the Arabic theme?  Is the guy not reaching out to the right people to get the word out?  I loved SiShou too, but at least in that case I could see (and we talked about it in this forum) some of the obstacles that deck had to overcome.  It was still a crime that it wasn't funded--but this deck doesn't have those obstacles and yet it seems to have leveled out.  We're in crime territory again <SIGH>

Seriously, what do you think is holding this back.  I just don't get it.

Absolutely nothing is holding it back.  I've been charting its progress.  It's been slow but reasonably steady and solid, so that now, with 12 days remaining, he's nearly 75% of the way there with less than $2,100 left to raise before hitting the goal.  Ned stands a much better chance of succeeding than the SiShou deck ever did.

I will say, however, that if he doesn't find a way to pick up the pace, he will fall short at his present rate of funding increase (approximately $400 a week), even allowing for a "bump" of 50%-100% in the last two days.  So, Ned - pick up the pace!  :))

He added buttons to the project.
A set of four, each is 3/4 inch, and they follow the motif of the four circular background designs.

If you get buttons but nothing else it costs $6.
If you add buttons to an existing pledge, it costs either $4 or $5.
(I'm guessing this will be cleared up soon, but for right now, Project Update #11 says $4. But the front page says $5.)

Also, jokers are out in Project Update #10.

OK, I'll admit that I really like the pip layout in this deck ...

Here is a more recent image of our card layout:

Click through for our artist's website!

I'd like all you cardists to know that we have THINNED THE BORDERS!

Also, GBAllison attempted to link to a backers-only update, which doesn't seem to work.  You can see the jokers at the bottom of this public update!
