Wow! 200% was just hit! Congrats Russell.

"100% - The deck is funded.
125% - The tuck box will have a special Kickstarter tuck seal.
150% - The tuck box will be adorned with silver foil instead of ink.
175% - The tuck box will have embossing in addition to everything above.
200% - All of the above and the decks pledged on Kickstarter will be the only way to get one with with foil and embossing.  Any decks sold afterwards will be in a standard tuck box with a standard seal.  Great perk for early backers!
250% - Custom Brick Boxes (holds 12 decks) and all of the above. (Any reward with over 12 decks will come with the custom boxes)
300% - I'm taking ideas...  Free dice, earplugs, AA batteries, anything...
500% - Will make us the top card deck on Kickstarter!" - Kickstarter page

Definitely prefer the blue seal.
The green color does not bother me, I think it will stand out nicely and look decent.
I am not fond of the message on it. It makes the deck feel more like an advertising or free giveaway deck. IMO it loses some of the class of the deck... If a deck can have class.

This deck is coming along just wonderfully!

I'm pretty sure that the decks will probably make it past 300%, and because of that, I have already upgraded my pledge to $42.96. I wonder, Russell, what's next?

At what point do we specify what dice we want? I added $2 to get a pair of each colour, when do we state this?

Upon writing this reply, the deck has surpassed 250%, which means...CUSTOM BRICK BOXES! - And it still has 22 days to go.

If your reward level says you are getting more than 12 decks ($80 tier) please change your reward selection to $1 and keep the same amount of money pledged. This does not effect anyone in the $5/$7 reward levels.

Kickstarter's new rule is you can't have more than 10 of 1 item for sale. shit.

All you need to do is change your reward selection without adjusting the pledge money.

Sorry, I'll have an update soon.

That is crazy awkward! I read your update on my phone and was like "WTH is he doing?" but that is a crummy situation to be stuck in. Guess from now on all card people are going to have to do awkward rewards that force the user to calculate costs out for the decks they want, what a bummer.

Good luck getting it worked out and making sense for everyone.

Russ, could you possibly cheat the system and offer 2 bricks instead of 12 decks, or 1 gross instead of 144 decks.

it's not a big deal, just keep your pledge the same and change your reward to the $1 level.

It's a huge hassle for me.

--- edit---

This is officially my last kickstarter. it's now too much of a pain.

I am officially pissed off at this action. So much for a "kickstart", it's more like a "kick in the buttocks". How come Kickstarter just decided to do this with YOUR deck and with the previous decks. I guess, they probably got jealous that your deck was overly popular - if there's such a thing. Hopefully, you can get this problem handled quickly, and I wish you the best of luck.

P.S. Not to push you beyond your limits, but since Kickstarter might not be an option for you the next time around, what company, if any, do you plan on using to finish your trilogy?

Russ, could you possibly cheat the system and offer 2 bricks instead of 12 decks, or 1 gross instead of 144 decks.

Kickstarter won't allow him to make any rewards offering over 10 decks, and renaming the rewards won't fool anyone. I don't think anyways.

There will still be a third deck.   Quicksilver isn't going anywhere either, even if I lose all of those backers I am still way over my goal.  Hopefully most will come back once they realize it was not me but Kickstarter that canceled their pledge.

I'm not going to cheat the system, I don't want to lose ALL my funding.

I'm still emailing KS back and forth trying to work something out, nothing yet.

If kickstarter begins enforcing their no more than 10 rule more fervently, this may be the end of legitimate decks on Kickstarter.
I think this might be an audit issue. I think that because Russell's campaign made so much and broke it's goal so quickly the staff at kickstarter chose to audit it.
You can see by looking through some of the smaller campaigns on kickstarter they don't audit everyone.

If they start auditing the pledge levels it will certainly make it difficult for card designers to use the kickstarter marketing plan.
We will see the disappearance of decks like quicksilver, Tendril and the like
Kickstarter will still be viable for flash in the pan/ money grab decks like those from AlienInks or the art house deck where they charge $20 per deck.

This would be a real shame if it were so. I like kickstarter for getting decks, I can often get decks in numbers that I want and pick up extras that I want like uncut sheets.
It is a toss up when decks are released on a certain date on a small website if I even get the deck at all let alone any extras

Perhaps I am being too hasty to say that Kickstarter is done as a legitimate place to market cards.
But I have heard too many times that Kickstarter is a bit of a hassle and this certainly won't make it easier.

So, it's not a new Kickstarter rule? Because if it had been, I would've found that utterly ridiculous.

I actually think this will weed out the flash in the pan decks. Companies who are here for the long haul wouldn't be as threatened considering they would already have a brand that contains brand loyalty among their customers. So getting those pledges wouldn't be as hard as it would for a no name to bring in multiple backers who haven't had a track record. Either way, it's a pointless rule and makes no sense whatsoever. Kickstarter is in the business of making money and cutting out higher backers in the end hurts how much they'll receive from their cut of funding.

Aaaaand there goes Kickstarter projects for anything that isn't a pure blind investment/expensive product.

Russell, I'm glad this is your last KS project. I think you would have tons more success through your own site. KS is nothing but a hassle.

It's really sad to see them promote this idiotic rule. I pledged for a battery project not too long ago. Awesome batteries, and I ordered well over 10 of each.

It seems they are pushing towards more creative rewards and also towards less of a pre-order vibe that projects have been having lately. I understand their reasoning, the absolute last thing KS is, is a pre-order system. However, they could have gone about it in a different way...

Putting the max at 10 seems like a direct jab to the card market too.

I think the new rule isn't actually that bad. It sucks for card guys like us because if you want a brick (by the way I see what you mean about saying 1 BRICK, instead of 12 cards. It is only 1 thing, especially if its in its own box) but yeah, if you want 12 decks which some of us here is normal, its a pain. But realistically how many projects on kickstarter are cards? Compared to how many projects are on kickstarter in general?  This 10 items or less rule is probably to just stop an ordering system. Recently I have noticed that kickstarter projects just have there pledge levels representative of what a store front would look like. Some offer $1 off after market costs but a don't.

In reality I think its to hit at the resellers, how many times have you seen rewards like "RESELLER PACKAGE - 72 decks". That just treats kickstarters as a pre ordering system which is not what it is, it isn't supposed to be a business model, it's a community driven goal. The mistake they've made is probably not there fault, but its the limit they set.

It is perfectly normal to want 12 decks... But it'd be rare to order 12 t-shirts unless you were selling them, etc.

Hopefully this doesn't mess up the kickstarter campaign because CCC is one of the  top kickstarting companies, instead of a pre-order system there are early pledging rewards, stretch goals, quirks, communication with supporters, etc. Worst person to happen to.

I don't think Kickstarter is gone for new card companies, it is just getting harder and because of how the card market is right now, cards are even more expensive - foil and embossing are becomming standard, custom faces are pretty much a given, custom tuck seals, etc. All makes decks expensive and its now more difficult.

I just didn't think kickstarter would build so much into 'we're not a preodering service' that they would jeopradise a lot of users... Its nice to think that some compaines have principles.

Well KS and I met in the middle.  I can sell the 'bricks' of 12 decks. (Pssst if you want 24 decks just double down you pledge)  8)

It's really not a big deal, it only affected around 15 backers in the long run.
