Ok, so I'm finally getting around to posting an introduction about myself here on the board. I am a 48 year old artist, designer and craftsman. In my career I've created high end custom furniture and interior architecture, product design for the commercial market, graphic design, illustration and going all the way back to my early years, last but not least, painting, drawing and sculpture. The current company I own and run, along with my wife and partner Linnea Gits, is called Uusi.
As artists and designers we have accumulated quite a few collections of objects and art as inspiration for our work, whichever medium it might be. The collections range from Playing cards, chess sets, banknotes and stamps to vintage Kay Bojesen wooden animals, Walter Bosse figurines, vintage Belgian beer glasses and a handful of other such items. The Blue Blood card deck we designed and launched on Kickstarter is what originally brought me to the discourse - looking for support for the project. It's going to sound kinda stupid but we didn't realize how big the card collecting/magician/cardistry community was, as we have a tendency to have our heads mostly in the "design" world. It was actually refreshing and extremely helpful to have such feedback from a direct market of an object we designed. We are first and foremost artists and designers, but is also essential to us to understand an objects function and its past history. Our intention is to design and create objects that will last the test of time both physically and aesthetically.
This is getting long, so I guess that's enough for now. Thanks to those of you here that have supported our Kickstarter project and we do plane on designing more card decks in the future!
Here is a link to a select portion of my card collection, I just started the long task of uploading it to my flicker page, ugh. So hopefully I will be adding more as soon as possible. My collection isn't so much about quantity as it is about how unique the imagery and decks are leaning a little more towards expressiveness in the artwork and actual production.
