With as many decks of cards as I've opened, I should know this, but never paid attention when opening up a deck.

With a fresh deck of cards, if you are looking "through" the front of the tuck case would you see the back of the cards, or the faces? I think it's back, but can't visualize it.

No reason...

Yup. In a case where the back shows the back design, it would be aligned with the actual back of the cards. ;)

Well with the Bikes I buy there aren't ad cards. So John would be correct in saying that.

I'm pretty sure it's the faces youd see and the backs would be seen first when taking the deck out of the box!

Faces face the seal, backs face the front. I never understood why it is that way, so I actually flip the cards after I open a deck so that the backs face the seal.

It's aligned so that if you open up the deck and take them out, while looking at the back of the box, the backs are facing you. So, if you were looking at the front of the deck, the faces would be looking at you from behind the tuckbox.
You can see this by looking at White Centurions or Ramblers - the little window shows the back of the cards, and it's on the back of the box.
For some reason, I always swap it around so that when I open up a deck, the Joker is looking at me. I don't know why I do it, I just do. xD

I think it depends on the cards. I do remember opening the box and when I'm looking at the back, the backs of the cards would be facing me when I take them out. But I recently just got my Smoke & Mirrors v6 and noticed from the photos my girlfriend took that the the faces were facing me when I opened the box while looking at the back.

Huh. That's weird. I guess it must depend on the deck, then.

I was pretty certain that the back of the cards faced the back of the box, then I opened those two sealed decks to be sure... (And yup, that's what my table usually looks like, with a bunch of decks everywhere.)
Does anyone know about the 125th bikes? That was my first deck when I started really getting into cards, so it might be the one that gave me this habit.

Whoops! Did I say cards? I meant deck. Sorry.

Thanks everyone. So it looks like that's not something set in stone, which is interesting. I have a little idea rolling around in the ol' head and having the cards a certain way in the tuck could be rather interesting...just sayin...

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

Another tidbit about packaging: if the cards are oriented the same as the tuck box when you remove them, it's a traditionally-cut or face-down cut deck.  Most decks these days are oriented inverse to the box, meaning any guarantee cards or what have you, any cards with a one-way indicator of any kind, will be upside down in relation to the writing on the box.  Those decks use the modern or face-up cut.
