I like those decks, even the handling.  Pretty much all the BBM decks handle the same, I think they use the same stock and finish on everything (other than the Death Heads, which are 100% plastic and really, really slippy).

What makes you think the Karnival Dead Eyes deck sucks?  They didn't suffer the handling issues that the E's Bicycle Series 1800 decks did when they first came out - they handle pretty smoothly, using an air cushion finish.  (It could even be an upgraded finish, since USPC had that pesky rule about all Bicycle decks having the name "air cushion" for the finish...)

I've had no performance issues with any of the Karnival decks I've bought.  The Karnival Hornets are of a higher grade stock, so they handle somewhat better.  The Death Heads are also good to handle and faro well despite being 100% plastic.

Have you tried pressing them and using some fanning powder on them?  Sometimes the environment they're used in can have an effect on their handling.  Hot and humid means shorter performance life.

I don't actually own any Karnival decks, for this reason specifically.  I constantly hear mixed reviews about them and their piss poor handling.  Their decks aren't cheap, and shipping to the states doesn't come for free either, so I actively choose not to purchase any BBM decks.  Someone prove me wrong - I'm a collector, and wouldn't mind them, I just don't want to collect crap.

The Diavoli decks - except Bike Gargoyles - get worse with age, fast.  The Karnivals, I've had no troubles with at all.  I feel they've been getting progressively better with each new release, and handling hasn't been a problem for me.

OK, I have to amend that statement.  I just grabbed some BK Assassins off the deck - clump city.  But the K Hornets - smooth.  I'll have to go over the collection when I have a little more time.

Yeah, I particularly like the Hornets.  The stock is very soft compared to a T11, E or CARC deck but that's not necessarily a bad thing.  I think they do think outside the box on their designs and really put a lot of effort, certainly a lot of customization into them (well... outside the box of traditional design, inside the box of skulls).  They don't handle badly at all.  Well, I don't exactly do flourishes so I don;t know but you can get a damn fine bottom deal from them and they spread and fan perfectly.  I've got Dead Eyes, Dose, Death Heads and Hornets (got a Foil Midnight, too but it's still sealed) and they all handle more or less the exact same.

I'm not a fan of Karnival decks. The only ones that I kind of liked are the Dose and the Hornets. I have the Dose decks and they're pretty nice but have a one-way back. I don't have the Hornets though.

You'll like the two-way back on Dose V2 (though it will probably have a subtle one-way mark like almost every Karnival deck does).

I also recommend the Death Heads - they cost more, but they're plastic and well-made with good handling.

I don't think I will actually. I picture it being that back design but having one of those "Dose" faces on each side of the back.

It's that, but more.  I think 52cartes had a picture of the back.  I thought it was a classy upgrade.

Those are the first five Karnival decks, and they're also minimally customized.  Custom back, jokers & ace of spades.  Most also have ad card reveals, joker reveals and barcode reveals.  But the rest of the deck is bog standard.

The really interesting decks were the later ones, the Dead Eyes, Dose and Hornets.  The first two I mentioned were highly customized, while the last one was minimally custom but with superior performance.  The Death Heads fall into a totally different category since they're made of plastic.  Yes, it's another minimally customized deck, but it also handles better than most plastic decks I've ever used, even better than many paper decks.
