The art is nice, but there's no mention of who's going to print it.

BTW: you might want to consider a redesign of the "suit cards" with the index that looks like a steel acorn with a swastika in the center.  Some European countries place prohibitions on the sale and exchange of items bearing swastikas - your deck could be deemed illegal and seized by Customs if backers from those countries order them, not to mention the possibility of legal hassles for the backers themselves.

Thanks for checking out Llod's Carnival Playing Cards!

The printing information is buried at the bottom of the campaign.  The artwork has been pre-approved by the USPPC and will be printed by the USPCC.  There will be some free upgrades to the deck and tuck box that have not been announced.  The upgrades will be announced once the campaign reaches 33% funding.

Thanks for the information about the swastika.  The intention of this symbol is only for historical reference.  During WWII, the Germans were said to have created a spacecraft (Die Glocke).  The pip represents this technology during this period of time.  I will review the information you provided and seek further consultation.

BTW - I have some exciting updates that will be announced tomorrow.  Be sure to check the campaign often!

Thank you,

Terry Doll

You still have a swastika on your extra cards - you called them "suit cards" but most people would probably call them jokers.

You really should check on the laws regarding the use of the symbol.  It is indeed banned in some European countries.
Link to Wikipedia article on "swastika," section "Post-World War II stigmatization"

At a minimum, any backers from those countries should be warned of possible legal liabilities and loss of products due to government seizure.  You might get lucky, or you might get some irate backers.

BTW: why the switch of the back design?  It's not a radially-symmetrical two-way design.

Thanks so much for the tip!

I have included a disclaimer at the bottom of the campaign.  If the campaign is funded, I will send you a free deck for your help!

I received a lot of positive feedback with the new card back design.  I wanted to keep it consistent with the face cards.  Perhaps, the next deck in the series will have a symmetrical  design.

In terms of printing information, I have that listed in the FAQs...

Thanks again!

Thank you or the offer.

If you find that your project doesn't get funded, consider retooling the project and using MakePlayingCards.com as your printer.  They have a much-smaller minimum print run, as little as a single deck, allowing you greater flexibility in terms of planning your project's budget.

If you take your end-result number of decks for which people have pledged in this project and plan to print, say, two-thirds of that amount for the follow-up second attempt, take that to MPC for pricing, then plan your new project's goal based on that, you stand a very strong chance of success.  In the event you get back every single backer and then some, all wanting decks, you simply increase your print order with MPC, possibly even lowering your per-deck print costs and increasing your profit in the process.

They're not quite as good as USPC, but they're pretty good in general and do just fine in most cases for decks that are more art-oriented than performance-oriented. I would advise ordering a super-short print run paid out-of-pocket just as a test - consider them prototypes, and order not more than perhaps a half-dozen or a dozen.  Then you can see what the print will look like, make color/brightness/contrast adjustments accordingly and use the extras to get the deck into the hands of online video reviewers to drum up interest in the KS project while it is still active.  If you can find a cardist willing to make a video with your deck for promotional purposes, all the better.  Many major playing card creators I know use MPC for their prototype decks even when planning to do their full print run with other printers because they're so much more affordable while still doing reasonably good work.

There is still time and staying optimistic and looking to keep the momentum going!

I actually have a prototype deck printed by MPC.  It was helpful to print the prototype to get a rough idea of how they would look.  I did tweak a few things with the design to improve things based on the printing.

Also, thanks for the reminder about a cardist.  There are not many around where I live, but still searching.

BTW - the last gaff card has been revealed.
