E-mail money transfer? Everybody has a bank and the internet. If someone is really computer illiterate then maybe mailing a good old fashioned cheque.

Thanks for your input. I'll send an e-mail to USPC and post their response as well for future reference on this site.

I'm good with the die cut line. I'm still fuzzy on Copy limit line vs PRL(Punch Registration Limit) line. I've attached a photo of what I mean. The two dashed lines within the die cut line.

Design & Development / Copy Limit line vs PRL Limit Line

I'm pretty naive when it comes to printing cards. Just setting up the Poker die with provided template from UPCC. Anybody with experience have any advice? I'm not sure the meaning of the Copy Limit line vs PRL Limit Line - I'm assuming the Die Line is where the die cuts. I'm wanting a white border similar in size to a standard bicycle deck and not sure where to line up my art work.

Also I scanned my hand drawn artwork in to Photoshop at the max 4000dpi that my scanner aloud me. What's the best format to save it in to keep the quality as high as possible?

Thanks in advance.

Design & Development / Re: Prototype Deck
« on: February 20, 2019, 03:07:11 PM »
Thanks for your replies. Good to know a prototype is printed differently. If the Kickstarter goes through I guess I'll be a nervous Nelly until the final product shows up. I'll be using MPC to start and hopefully there is some give in the deck I'm creating. It is a marked deck using different shades of colors and some tricky optical illusions that are essentially invisible to the naked eye.... The colors being printed differently than designed might be the difference between the deck no longer being marked or even worse being obviously marked and unusable. Card faces aren't sensitive but the backs will all have slight color variances to identify the card.

I agree that printing the final run and proof differently kinda defeats the purpose. For the artwork it makes sense but I guess nobody imagined a project that would be so color sensitive.

Design & Development / Prototype Deck

I'll be designing a deck of cards that is VERY color specific. I'm planning on using MPC to try out a whole bunch of variations to perfect it. My concern is that moving over to a print by Bicycle for a larger number of decks will result in different colors as it is a different printing process. I would be horrified if my future kickstarter went through only to receive 1000 or more decks that are essentially ruined. I would love to do a prototype with Bicycle if they would do that once I think the colors are good. I'm in the process of contacting Bicycle for a prototype, I know they've done them in the past for about $250. Not sure if anybody else uses the same printing process that would have them cheaper in the mid-term prior to my kickstarter.

I'm going to answer my own question as I received a response from the USPCC today. I'll quote them directly.

"The duty charges are inclusive in the quoted per deck price, so there won’t be any additional charges for these.

Only the taxes will be applicable on the invoice. "

Prices quoted in CAD to a Canada address.

Has anyone here in Canada had a successful Kickstarter and had your custom deck printed and shipped by the United States playing card company? I was quoted prices in CAD and free shipping but not sure if I'm going to get stuck with a hefty bill for duties at the border.

Deck Reviews! / Re: Deck Review - Mirz Playing Cards by Zak Mirzadeh
« on: January 29, 2019, 11:17:47 PM »
What are the chances! I just signed up for this site and introduced myself. This is literally the first post I see. I met Zak Mirzadeh in St. Louis this last November at a conference where he was performing his magic show. I'm definitely picking up one of his decks just to support this guy. During the conference I was actually able to perform a magic card trick for Zak a number of hours before his magic show. I tried my best magician fooler trick. He admitted he had never seen it before but he had a pretty good guess of how it was done! Way to go Zak on funding this deck!

Introduce Yourself / Hello. I have a secret!

Hey everyone. I'm new to this forum. I am a pilot that also performs close up magic - mostly cards. I love strong effects. My wife is an amazing artist and together we are not only making a custom deck, we are creating a deck that has both great art work AND it has some hidden secrets. It's a marked deck that's never been done before and will pass the riffle test - no "going to the movies" haha. I won't give away too many details as the prototype is a month or two away but rest assured I'll be needing a lot of your help in making my kickstarter successful in the future months to come. I've already stumbled across a few good items and I am a fan of collecting decks. This site is great for gaining a knowledge base from a collective group of experts, collecting a few decks of cool cards and maybe offering advice, and hopefully offering a product that some of you would love to back as well. I look forward to interacting with some of you in the next while.
