« on: November 04, 2011, 01:47:28 PM »
I never really saw the point in collecting uncuts and putting them in a poster frame.

But OMG, These are amazing.  This is the uncut collection from the same guy bringing us the Seasons Decks.

AMAZING!

Really, I am blown away by these!

Playing Card Plethora / { This and That } -- Bicycle Olympus ??
« on: November 04, 2011, 01:25:22 AM »
I was looking for a competitor to Kickstarter due to the fact you have to be American to launch a project, and I came across this...

http://www.indiegogo.com/Olympus-Bicycle-Deck

The artist's name is Chris Bennett.  I sent him a FB message to see if he's still trying to bring this deck to life.
He obviously needs to put pledge rewards, etc.

I'll let you guys know what I find out.

On a side note.. for anyone who wants to have a kickstarter-type project but you don't live in the States, this is an option for you

Playing Card Plethora / Gold Monarchs
« on: November 03, 2011, 05:50:56 PM »
________________________________________________________________________________

Anyone who purchased the pre-release just received this e-mail

"Congratulations! If you're receiving this message, you were one of only 111 people who are lucky enough (and fast enough!) to snatch up a pre-release deck of Monarch Playing Cards.

Wanted to send you a quick message to advise that your deck is on the way and will be arriving shortly. For some of you, it may have even arrived today - check your mail!

Some details about the deck you'll be receiving: It's the best we've ever done. Printed at The United States Playing Card Company using imported papers, metallic inks, and stunning, elegant artwork. The deck represents the pinnacle of playing card design and manufacturing today. They're the most elite playing cards ever produced.

We have a secret! The pre-release edition of Monarchs is NOT the same as the decks to be released publicly on 11/11. The pre-release you're going to receive is a GOLD edition featuring gold metallic inks on the back design. Otherwise, the decks - and the tuck case - are identical.

Our original intention was to keep the gold backs for ALL of the Monarchs, but due to complications during the printing process, only 144 made it through. The gold edition will never be publicly available and is limited to only 144 in circulation. They'll never again be produced, and the only ones that exist - are yours. They are the most rare decks we have ever produced.

We ask that you keep the cards confidential until release, and help us keep the secret of what the decks look like until then. The Monarchs will be unveiled for the first time on 11/11 at 11:00am EST. Until then, enjoy your new deck! Treat it well and please let us know what you think once you receive it."

Wow.

Playing Card Plethora / The Style Deck by www.bedeceived.com
« on: November 03, 2011, 02:50:45 AM »
The pre-release for this deck is on Nov 5th

Here's some photos

"There will only be 2500 printed, and only 2000 of those will be sold off the bat. Once they're gone, they're gone. These cards will be priced at $7.99 per deck, and $81.95 per brick (12 decks)."

"The decks are expected to arrive approx. 1-1.5 months after the prerelease date."

"Aristocrat stock with a magic finish"

"Shipping is very inexpensive with us, even internationally, and is only based on weight and whether it is international or not, but not how far you are. One deck to around 10 decks would ship for about $7, a brick is free because we have free shipping (yes, including international) for orders over $50. So if you get less than a brick it'll be $7, more than a brick it's free"

I'll wait to they're printed to check them out.

Enjoy

Playing Card Plethora / Are you Canadian??
« on: November 03, 2011, 12:43:33 AM »

Looking for fellow card collectors within Canada to trade/swap decks with.

I'm just outside Toronto. I'd eventually like to start trading cards with fellow Canadians, saving Duty/Shipping charges from other countries.

Example:
A new deck has a release date, we figure out who in the group wants one.
One person from the group orders them from let's say Honk Kong.
Only one international shipping/Duty paid, instead of each of us paying it.
When we pay that member for the deck through Paypal, we add in extra to split that shipping Duty fee that was paid.

And, I have extra decks that I would like to trade.

I don't know..what do you guys think?

Playing Card Plethora / UnitedCardists.net
« on: November 02, 2011, 11:50:32 PM »
WTF is happening at UnitedCardist!!!

When I first started collecting cards, I was desperately looking for a group of people that loved the hobby like I do.  I came across UnitedCardists by accident, and I LOVED IT.

But something has happened.  It seems like the creators could care less, or don't have any time to dedicate to the problems that grow there on a daily basis.

The group has asked for new moderators, I've chatted with the admins a few times.. still nothing changes.

Then... new members couldn't join, and members that were there started having internal conflicts.  Publicly bitching each other out like guests on a Jerry Springer episode.

Glimpse of hope!!!  The registration issue was fixed, and the feud subsided.

Now.. a new nuisance!  A barrage of newcomers acting like little children with no supervision.  Excuse my french, but it's f*cking annoying.

so I say again... WTF is happening at UnitedCardist!!!

I'm sending the admins an e-mail tomorrow as a last ditch attempt to get one or more of the regulars as moderators/admins.  If my messages go unanswered, I will be leaving UnitedCardists.  It needs moderation... NOW!

I've only been on this forum for a short time, and I'm really enjoying it.  It's very welcoming.
I'd just like to keep UnitedCardists thriving as well, so hopefully they finally listen.

Do any of the regulars at UC know the admins personally (i.e on facebook)

The Conversation Parlor / Forum... We need to stop this.
« on: November 02, 2011, 01:43:25 AM »
Alright.. let me start be saying I'm frustrated.  So, I'm going to do something I don't normally do.. I'm going to vent.
But, it needs to be said.
If you're offended by any of this, it's because you know you're one of the culprits I'm talking about.

I frequent UnitedCardists, and this site... but something has changed over the past month or so.

What is with all the stupid questions/comments?
"Is it limited?"
"Is it rare?"
"Is it SUPER-RIDICULOUS-I-CAN'T-BELIEVE-I-HAVE-THE-HOLY-GRAIL-OF-PLAYING-CARDS-RARE?"
"Are they going to do reprints??"  Of a deck that hasn't even been printed yet.

Limited..rare.. when these words are thrown out for almost every deck... it really starts to mean nothing.

Is it limited?  Of course, most decks get a 5000 run... not a lot for a population of 7 billion.  But most times there's an easy way to know.  Big companies...Ellusionist, T11, D&D, etc normally have larger print runs.  15,000-20,000 decks.  Smaller release from no-name people = smaller runs.

Will there be reprints? 99.999% won't announce reprints without seeing how the deck is going to sell.

Is it rare?  If it just came out... probably not.

So, is there any way the forum can stop asking these same questions about EVERY deck?
_________________________________________________

One other thing....  if you're going to write in the forum, try to add something to the conversation.

As of this minute, I have 58 posts.  I would say in at least 80% of my posts I try to add something to the topic, or bring info to the forum to help everyone out.
It seems like some other members are just trying to get a higher post ranking, with maybe only 10% of their posts being quality posts.
_________________________________________________

And finally..

It's happening quite a bit on UC... If you start a new thread, please make sure that a similar thread doesn't already exist.

So ends my rant.

Frustrated
