Playing Card Plethora / Re: Classic Twins and Classic Black on sale now.

And we might also mention that the wonderful Twinbox idea was pinched from a set of decks done by Aristocrat many many years ago. We got this from Tom and Judy Dawson!
Thanks Tom and Judy!

bk

I bought a brick of them and I can't wait to get them! I'm usually very happy with Conjuring Arts and EPCC but I just don't know about this double tuckbox. .. Crying babies like me would probably complain about the lack of practicality :) I can appreciate the fact that it's different but what are your thoughts on this, Bill?

That's just awesome Seb  :D

Pretty happy with it ;)

Hey all,
Thought I'd share pics of the cabinet I gave myself as an early Christmas gift ;) It's a 70's library Card Catalog. 30 drawers and 40 decks per drawer... Got it for cheap; had to sand and varnish it. I'm really happy with it!

That looks fantastic!  Bill Kalush did the same thing in his office at Conjuring Arts!  Finding one today, though, is like looking for stars in the night sky above New York - exceptionally difficult, nearly impossible!
Yeah Card guys are definitely going for those old cabinets. They're pretty hard to find. Or if you find them, they're usually super expensive.  I got lucky with mine; it was pretty cheap.

Lee Asher's deck is actually 605, not 606 ;)

Indeed, you are correct.  Thanks!  I'm surprised that I forgot that...

Happens to the best of us ;) Hard to keep up sometimes!

They make a few bland poker decks, model numbers 818 and 18 - the back image is on par with something like Aviators, all with borders.  The 18-00 model appears to be their answer to the Texan Palmettos - a somewhat souped up design that's printed into the bleed.

There are three models of Fournier deck that appear to be the more popular around collectors (unless we're talking about collectors who specialize in European-made cards).  First is the Fournier 606, Lee Asher's signature deck, manufactured to rather exacting standards - you can even wash them despite their being made of paper.  Second is the 505, the deck that preceded the 606 but has the same back design (505s come in red and blue, 606s come in brown and green).  Last is technically not a Fournier deck in the sense that they made it but not under their name: Bicycle Prestige 100% plastic.  USPC bought Fournier I think around '86.

There's another "collector deck" maker that used Fournier for a specific project - Big Blind Media from the UK, home of the "Bicycle Karnival" series of decks, created a "Karnival Death Heads" deck; the original was the Armour Edition, 100% plastic and made by Fournier with their standard jumbo-index faces, while the other was the Carnage Edition, made by USPC out of paper and Bicycle-branded with USPC standard-index faces.

One other custom deck maker used Fournier for a project, but it wasn't playing cards.  The artist who created the recent "Bicycle Favole" deck made it out of repurposed art from her "Tarot Favole" deck she had printed with Fournier.  Both decks are on the website if you poke around a little.

Lee Asher's deck is actually 605, not 606 ;)

Don do these come in some stack or just premixed?

I just received mine and I like 'em a lot. They come in Mnemonica stack. Nice, thick stock.

Nice story She moved around quite a lot :)

You don't know the half of it!  But perhaps PM would be better, if you want to continue the discussion.

Lol yeah Hijacking the thread ;)

Oh cool!
I'm from Montreal; where is your mom from?

Mom was born in Montreal, but her family lived in Quebec where her dad worked as a cabbie.  Eventually they moved to New York and her dad got a better job as a resident manager of a luxury apartment building.  She got left back two grades in high school because she was unable to speak English, but by the time she graduated post-high school classes at a secretarial school, her first employer sent her back because her English had too much of a Brooklyn accent!

She's lived in a few different places around the country and presently is just outside of the Piedmont Triad in North Carolina.

Nice story She moved around quite a lot :)

Lol Deal! And Google translator did a pretty good job for once :)

I intentionally kept the sentences simple to give it a helping hand.  :))  Plus I input "quebecoise" myself, to which they simply added the accent marks.  I know just a TINY amount of French, as I did take a year of it in college about a lifetime or two ago.

Oh cool!

Oh geez Here we go... First of all; responsibility and not responsability.. Sorry but j'aimerais te voir écrire une phrase en français, Don ;)

Pardonnez-moi, monsieur!  Ma mère est Québécoise, mais je n'ai jamais appris le français.  Cela vient à vous avec l'aimable autorisation de Google Translate.

I don't know why my opinion would be biased; I'm usually satisfied with the Crown.

Ok let's go out in the sun :)

Sounds like a plan - I'm done talking about this!

LMAO!

Just to be clear, where does this rank on the "Crap Of All Time Crap List" (COATCL)? Lol

Oh it's way up there :)

With 1500 decks in the collection, I know what a good deck, an OK deck and a mediocre deck is. I never complain about decks but this one is total crap even though BC said it wasn't really meant to sustain long time usage. Like someone said, I was expecting a Pinto and I got a used bicycle with no wheels. Until you have one in your hands, you can't understand. The deck is literally Dollar Store material. I don't know why Don is making such a big deal about my... opinion.

Ok let's go out in the sun :)

I bought 2 of those and they suck. I understand this is not meant to be a "real" deck but this is completely useless. 50$ down the drain. Cheap cardboard cards. Dollar Store quality. Really disappointed.

But you spent that $50 even after reading:

"These decks are printed at a boutique card printer using a digital process and are not meant for high-level usage. The plain white window tuck box provides the perfect prototype vibe."

And still feel entitled to claim you've been ripped off. Well done.  :karrit:

Oh no I did read "not meant for high-level usage" but that is just ridiculous. It's completely useless. And I'm not saying I got ripped off, I'm saying I'm extremely disappointed. Nobody made me buy this; I take full responsability... :(

Hey, look at it this way. It was nice of you to help pay for Alex's trip to California this week. Lol He will be thinking of all the little people who helped him financially get him where he is today! Lol That was a very nice thing you did and for your donation, you got a deck of cards. Feel better?

All joking aside. Where's the love? Where's the passion and pride of owning a company? Is this what Alex wants TBC brand to be known for? Is the TBC nothing more then novelty or souvenir shop? When was the last time a respectable magician did a video produced by TBC? When you look at products from other companies like them or not, you see the effort, the time, the work, the thought process. I don't see any of that from Alex in his products anymore.

Lol yeah I heard he's eating caviar on a stripper's ass tonight with my money.

The reason why I dont have more Seasons and why I didnt buy the latest cards is simply because Im trying to be reasonable and dont spend so much money in cards :)

I actually do try to buy only the decks I might use; I wont buy any new thing (or old) just for the sake of having them... Some cards on the market are completely useless, let's face it, and I'm filling my cabinets with good quality cards only ;) I have made a few mistakes in the past, though :) But everything is quite relative and one man's ugly deck may be another's treasure ;)

First of all, awesome collection! Also let me welcome you to the forums. I hope you'll enjoy it here. Finally, it seems like some of those crown decks are 1st editions... nice! BTW do you speak french? How long have you been collecting?

@Kpop - I believe very few people in these forums have as much cards. I know Don, Alex, and TigerKnee do, and I own almost 400 without counting duplicates.

Yes Nathan, I speak french, I'm from Montreal.. I looove the Crowns. They handle beautifully :)
