Playing Card Plethora / Sardines Playing Cards Kickstarter (Squiddle Ink)
« on: November 06, 2022, 06:25:03 PM »
Hello to the 52 plus Joker community.
I am finally ready to share my prelaunch page with anyone interested in joining me on the journey of creating the Sardines deck...

LAUNCH DATE: 10th November 18:00pm GMT

These cards will be printed using the new VIPER FINISH at Legends Playing Card Company. The tuck box will use a pearlescent tuck stock and interior tuck printing. The card backs will have a foil area where the Sardine tin is peeled back as if to reveal the metal inside. The tuck will have a custom seal.

I've had a lot of fun playing with the prototypes for these cards and I am looking forward to seeing the real thing. I think the card fan will be really fun to play with as the sardines are revealed along the edge of the cards.

Design & Development / SARDINES By Stacey Jay Kelly

Sharing my initial concept idea for "SARDINES (In Tomato Sauce)
I really love the cross over of Victorian meets Scandinavian designs on tinned fish. I think this will be a very fun project I can imagine the court designs as classic courts with fish faces and scales worked into their robes...
Perhaps a mischievous otter in a top hat and tails for the joker.

Still a rough concept but I like the style and colour so far. Any thoughts?

Design & Development / THE RUSH (Ghost Towns) - By Stacey jay Kelly

Here is a new ArtDeck,
I have been putting this idea together after I took a road trip heading from Death Valley North on the 395 to Lake Tahoe and then across to Yosemite and San Francisco and was charmed by the abandoned Ghost Towns littered throughout the state. The story that began at Sutter Creek to me seems pretty bleak and serves as a tremendous cautionary tale. My deck is a dedication to the hopeless 49ers who travelled to California in search of riches.

I have not yet thought deeply regarding the colour of the deck and have so far worked it in black and white. until I have completed the illustrations. I thought it would be a good time to share the designs for feedback.

Design & Development / FOLD - The New Custom Deck from Pixel Initiative

New deck design idea from Pixel Initiative. Fold, the origami themed playing card deck. Very simple tuck box, new look at deck layout... As fold is a Poker term also I thought it was appropriate.

Introduce Yourself / Pixel Initiative Playing Cards
« on: November 21, 2014, 10:03:05 PM »
Hi,

My name is Stacey Jay Kelly and I have recently designed my first deck of Playing cards. It is a real passion of mine to succeed as a playing card artist. They are unusual playing cards but I have had a great response so far. My project was chosen as a Staff pick on Kickstarter in the first week which gave a real boost the projects early gains.
My cards are currently featured on Kickstarter.

Here is my personal bio.... www.pixelinitiative.net

Stacey Jay Kelly is an English illustrator who began digital design as part of a travelling T-shirt printing company. Creating custom digital artwork in the presence of customers accelerated the performance of her imagination. Stacey then became involved with several street art organisations, creating large street art at city events using fully biodegradable materials.

Stacey then studied Animation & Illustration developing her digital art skills and fuelling a wider knowledge of creative formats. She can now apply these skills to a range of mediums from inventing character designs to educational infographics.

Her interest in presenting information visually landed Stacey within the BBC Learning infographics team. It was here that her knowledge of contemporary vector design was amplified and her imagination became fully integrated with digital techniques.

Working under the title Pixel Initiative, Stacey has built a worldwide roster of clients and has a vivid understanding of audience driven illustration. Although she is effective within the confines of a trend-bound style guide, Stacey is also able to make bold steps that challenge archetypal boundaries. She loves illustrating stories and game concepts and the amalgamation of fine drawing skills and design software, allowed her to realise her dream of becoming a full time artist.

Any help or comments would be appreciated. I am happy to have found this forum so that I can share my progress as I build a range of playing card decks.
