Sorry, but this design is really weak.

Wow!! way to offer support, no reason why you think this is a weak design? No constructive criticism to offer as to what could be improved?

Sorry but your comment is weak.

Go away troll!

Right,

I like the deck and have just pledged.

I had the idea of creating some stainless playing cards using our laser cutter at work just never got round to it, great minds think alike!

As for your stretch goals we'll have to see how the budget is holding up, lots of cool decks coming out this month,

Good luck with the project you're off to a good start!

Playing Card Plethora / Re: What purchase(s) was most worth it?
« on: October 29, 2012, 07:52:29 AM »
5 bricks of v6, brick of red artifice, gold crown, white monarchs, smoke and mirrors v3, gold arcane, seasons collector box set.

That sounds like a boast of what you've got rather than a worthwhile purchase.

For me it would have to be my Gold Arcane Deck. I hadn't been collecting long and I'd only been buying from one uk ebay reseller I'd bought Some ghost decks, Shadow masters and Arcanes both White and black. At this point I had no knowledge of the Gold Arcane.

I then Saw on youtube a Video of Ekaterina performing with a gold arcane deck. Now she's obviously a very attractive lady, with a very attractive deck. So, I was smitten.

I figured that as I wouldn't be able to get my hands on one I'd try to get the other. So a bit of research brought me to the Ellusionist website only to find that these decks were not for sale and to get one you had to spend $300. I was sooo disappointed, I couldn't justify that outlay.

Anyway around 6 months later Ellusionist had their first $75 for a gold arcane offer So I bought Army of 52 with Ghost Gaff deck, the three Ultragaff dvd's and deck and I also stocked up on regular arcanes and ghosts.

I can still remember receiving that package, I wasn't interested in anything else in that box other than the gold arcane, I opened it there and then and it did not disappoint, it looked awesome and handled like a dream.

I still regard the Gold Arcane as a True limited collectors deck and whilst it may not be as valuable as others in my collection it is one of those i'm most proud to own.

So yeah, that order from Ellusionist was my most worthwhile purchase

Playing Card Plethora / Re: What purchase do you regret making the most?
« on: October 28, 2012, 12:01:00 PM »
It's interesting that most posts here are about decks that were purchased with the intention of reselling for profit.
I don't really regret any of my purchases but two decks I bought that I don't actually like are the English Laundry deck and the Propaganda deck.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Altruism Deck from The Blue Crown - ON SALE
« on: October 27, 2012, 09:00:04 AM »
I'm actually quite happy now! when the Snow Owls are released on Halloween i'll buy at least 1 maybe 2 of both decks.
I got my Gold Crowns the same way.

Don, did you by anychance mention to Alex about a Purple Crown deck?

I have to say I'm not a fan of this deck, the back design is too "Harsh" for me. I also don't like the fact you need to buy a brick to get a Snow Owl deck . I'm a collector what do I need with a Brick? I buy 2 or 3 of each deck I like max.
It pains me to say it as I've been a a big fan of The Blue Crown from the start and I own all previous decks.

Now if they could just see their way to printing a Purple and Gold crown deck I'd be all over it like a rash. Hell I'd even buy half a brick!!

I have the originals, I'm happy with those, unless these show something truely groundbreaking I'll give them a miss.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: T11, E, and Skulkor Marketing trend
« on: October 09, 2012, 11:00:50 PM »
I think I've said elsewhere that I actually haven't bought any of the latest releases from D&D, T11 or E, I'm far more interested in what's coming out from kickstarter these days, this seems to be where the real innovation is.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Fluffy is here :)

Welcome fluffy!

Uh oh you're hooked! there's nothing like that feeling when you spot another package in the mail!!

I'll echo what Don has said though, it is easy to get caught up in the rush of the latest "must have" decks, I have decks in my collection that I don't actually like (Propaganda as an example) though at the time it was the latest release from t11 so of course a must have I haven't bought any of the last releases from D&D, T11 or Ellusionist, but have backed many kickstarter projects.

You also don't need to buy 2 bricks of every release!!! What I'll say is collect what appeals to you and not what you or others think you should. Having said that try and get a Gold Arcane!!!

if you have any questions ask away, we're a friendly bunch honest, and there's some very knowledgeable folks around the boards

Collect what you love, Love what you collect

Enjoy your stay!!

Playing Card Plethora / Re: The New Deck Report - Updated SUN 7 OCT 2012
« on: October 07, 2012, 02:18:08 PM »
Hey Don I admire what you're doing here keeping track of all these decks would make my head explode.
I had a thought, would it be possible to embed in the discourse homepage a kind of release Calender possibly one that scrolls? so as new deck release dates are known they could be added? then once a deck is released it could be added to a released decks topic so we could check what we missed?
Just an idea!

36
I can't buy a signature deck for someone I've never heard of.

37
I've ordered two decks, I only have one red and the handling is amazing! I agree that sometimes rehash colour changes can be frustrating (i'm looking at you Monarchs) when it seems companies are just cashing in But then i'd buy the artifice in any colour they produce, within reason.
I think we have to remember these are "Playing cards" primarily for "Playing" with.
It amuses me to hear people talk about the "Theme" of a deck, what it the theme of a standard bicycle deck? it's playing card games.
Paul mentions he would like to see less colour changes and more Art. Paul's Tendril deck is one of my favorite decks and I believe it to be a truely groundbreaking deck.
I'm pleased that  Playing cards have provided a new medium for some very talented artists to showcase their work but at the end of the day (23:59:59 god I hate that saying) they are still playing cards.
I hope that the custom deck trend continues for many years to come but I also hope companies continue to produce high quality playing cards, you know, to like, play cards with

Design & Development / Re: The Elements Deck (Ah another deck of cards)
« on: September 28, 2012, 11:00:38 PM »
As I said in the other thread for this deck I was ready to pledge for this deck after reading the kickstarter page seeing the pip design, the Ace of spades and court cards which look amazing.

Unfortunately I then saw the back design, 7 different colours if you include the white. So many different conflicting designs, I can see what you were doing  with those blue "wings". If you'd chosen one solid back colour with the large circles containing the smaller element circles then you'd have my money. unfortunately I can't look at that back design for too long. I know you said it took a long time to design and I know it's difficult to accept criticism on something you've worked hard at so I apologise  for that but this part of the board is to showcase designs, to test the water if you like and to recieve feedback, good and bad.

So I'll say once again;
Pip design - Awesome
Aos - Awesome
Court Cards - Awesome
Back design - hideous  sorry

Of course this is just my opinion, others may differ.

Good luck with your project

I was just about to pledge for these and then I saw that back design,

I'm not married (never say never though), Nor do i have any children (That I know of!) So if any future wife, children or long lost child I have wants them they can have them. That's if I haven't already sold them to fund another hobby or collection.
If they don't want them well, My father died of throat cancer, My mother has a serious heart condition and I myself am Narcoleptic!!! so the collection can be split 3 ways and donated to charity shops that support these conditions. though i don't own any Jerrys I like the thought of someone going into a charity shop and picking up a red Artifice or gold arcane for a buck!

42
Not to my taste I'm afraid.

I really like the Ace of Spades though.

I'm sorry, I won't be pledging this time (I bought the rev1!) But good luck with the project.

43
Really? I wasn't aware of these issues it's a real shame I ordered two of the prototypes one lacquered and one not I never received the unlacquered one and Rob promised to sort things out with me when he started production of the standard ones. I may be waiting some time LOL!
I also have the Tendril prototype which is awesome.
I hope Rob gets his head back in the game soon, as he has a brilliant disireable product.

My apologies to the OP for the off topic!

44
A Must have for me as I have the other two and I agree with you on their awesomeness!

45
I like the look of this project,
My main comment would be regarding your stretch goals 25k,35k and 45k? Not many deck projects i've seen bring in that level of funding,
Also refusing to offer embossing or metallic inks I think is a mistake as both are desirable for collectors.
Card clips are a big draw, especially those offered by Conjuring Creations, I'd love to see the head of Medusa engraved in one.

46
I'm in the UK it just said on the website they were available for preorder so I ordered a couple of decks, I honestly didn't expect them to turn up as soon as they did!
Same thing happened with the Inferno deck, Maybe they just like me LOL!

I think we are getting spoilt with all the fully custom decks that have been released over the last year or so, there was a time when fully custom was rare yet somehow its now come to be what we expect.

47
I got two of these decks a couple of days ago. the red on the back of the box is quite vibrant but I was disappointed that the card backs are just black and white. Custom Jokers and Aos but standard court cards and faces.

Still a nice handling deck though.

48
One of the reasons I like kickstarter is because it gives you the chance to get what you want. if you want an uncut and two decks you pledge and if there's only 25 uncuts then it's first come first served. When something is limited there are always going to be those who are disappointed or angry when they miss out. The only way to avoid this is to not release anything limited. One thing you could do is offer a pre sale to those that backed you on kickstarter for The Tendril Deck. Which shows loyalty to those who helped you to begin with.

49
One of my favorite decks, in my favorite colour With no borders....... Excited much? also unlimited so I don't have to stay up till 4am waiting for the release.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Possible New Deck? ::: Cobalt
« on: September 06, 2012, 10:19:07 PM »
I like the design, especially the smokey blue effect, obviously this is blue due to it being "Cobalt" but would like to see this done in red, green and purple with a gold central design.
