As the title says, here's the link http://www.dananddave.com/events/fantastique-playing-cards/

Some of you may have aready seen it but I thought I'd share just in case you hadn't. I must say I love the new site design but does anyone know if we can use our old accounts or do we need completely new ones to order, not ordering anything tonight but for the fantastique deck?

I will definitely be picking up a few of these decks. I am a huge fan of the box art, as I had stated in another thread, but not as much for the back art. Plus, since it most likely a limited run I might as well put a few in my collection before they sell out. Just another reason to look forward to Halloween!

Thanks Gunshy1, I did what you said and reset my password and it's worked. Was a little worried I lost my On Demands for a second. Cheers

That is my thinking as well Ev, if they are going to make a deck for mass production it would probably be along the lines of a S&M

Anyone know how limited these are going to be? I am guessing they will be fairly limited since the design doesn't really have a mass appeal. After seeing the better pic, I'll try to get a brick or so...we will find out.

Assuming they are priced right around $6, I should be getting several. I am gathering funds right now to do so. I think this deck will be highly sought after on the basis of it is a D&D original alone. If it turns out to be a stellar deck, all the better. We all know how a $6 deck can jump up to $50 the very next day.

I don't think this deck will be worth $50 after it sells out

Whether it'll be worth $50 and whether it'll sell on ebay for $50 are two different things. It's produced by the Bucks, probably in a run of 5,000 - 10,000, so if history has taught us anything - these will rise in price as soon as (or possibly before) they sell out.  Interesting move by DnD getting away from Smoke and Mirrors. I'll pick up a couple for the collection, but I think they'll just end up as pretty things to look at, then cards that will actually be used.

I'm agree. All cards have different backs so it constrains. But we have interesting back-animation)

I am not so sure that Fantastique is replacing the Smoke & Mirror line. From a business standpoint, it would be extremely foolish to take the cries of thousands of people that demand a new Smoke & Mirror design, and finish the series with something so moderate.

I don't believe these will climb to $50 a deck and above. Decks are having trouble climbing in value nowadays. It's hard to demand $70 for a deck that came out a month ago, for example, when four more decks are coming out the following week each with the aura of "this is going to be the next $100 deck."

Over-saturation is good and bad. It pushes producers to innovate rather than release the same, tired designs. However it also hits resellers hard, and resellers are the vast majority of profit for the producers.

As always, I preach the idea of buy what you love and buy the quantity that you can afford and wherein the purchase pays for itself.

With literally 1-2 new decks coming out each week (and it looks like in the coming months that number will double), you will find yourself with no money to spend if you try to buy a few of everything. Stick to what you love and can't see yourself without.

A deck like this will DEFINITELY not replace Smoke and Mirrors. Dan and Dave are smarter than that. This will most likely be a limited release because  D&D wouldn't have their first non limited deck, look like this.
And the price.... It may climb to $50 and higher in at least a year. It doesn't seem to be something that EVERYONE is ranting about and is dying to buy.

But I don't think like that now.

Not a whole lot of people are ranting about this deck. I am one of those that are just looking at this deck like "wtf?" As I said before, no way will this become a replacement for S&M. I can see it being a big collector a couple years down the road, like "Hey, do you have one of those decks D&D randomly released for a week?" This deck has stayed far more low key than the rest of what is coming out...seems like they are all in all trying to sneak this one under the radar. Anyone else get that impression?

Yeah, not much talking about this deck.
I'm thinking that's because we still don't have any info of stock, finish, limited.
So we don't have many things to talk.

This really does look like more of an artsy deck than a performance deck. I am sure the stock and finish will reflect that as well. Their handling decks are the S&M...so I would just expect very limited quantities and your standard stock and air cushion finish

I think it would be equally same quality as the smoke and mirrors and maybe as limited as the smoke and mirrors

Of course the S&M are limited, that is not what is in question. The mystery at hand is just how limited will the Fantasique be? And, can we all agree that this deck will not be a series and will not replace the S&M? I means the V7 is destined to come out. If this is not part of a series I think that would make it even more of a collector piece.

That makes sense. a 30k run in comparison to a 5k run means that they are really not that rare. But due to the fact that all 30k are sold out, it makes them limited and thus desirable. I know, as a collector, limited runs are nice to own but rares are awesome to have...gives bragging rights.

Yes, but higher demand will increase in the rareness as well. u can print 5k zebra deck and 30k v6, i think the 30k v6 will be sold out way faster then the zebra deck..

also depends on price, if zebra was $1 and v6 $12 i think zebra might sell out faster.

I don't think they sold all 30000 of their stock rite? SeeIng how they still have those variety box and collector boxes with older decks. And I think they keep some for personal use. Which makes it even more limited :)

Of course they don't, they have to keep some for future sales like the collector box and variety boxes.

Ok, I'm tracking that they keep some in stock for multiple reasons. When I say sold out, I mean what was for sale for as single units. In that instance, they were sold out a while ago, then they re released "what was left", then those sold out. So, to our knowledge they are "sold out"

new news on the fantastique deck from the bucks twitters. "Join us this Halloween and witness these marvelous cards come to life, http://www.dananddave.com/events/fantastique-playing-cards/" seems like the backs tell a story. a little like the stick man deck. it will be released at Monday at 12pm. Noon

see the reason im thinking of getting them now is because of that picture thing. any one who really knows cards, is the deck worth it? also since each one is different (picture thing) is this a marked deck?
Do you guys even read this? Like I could have the meaning of life here and I doubt you would know it.

Well, we have been saying this whole time that it looks more of an art deck than performance deck. Obviously with each back being different that cuts a lot of tricks out. I wouldn't wait too long Ev, these will probably super limited...maybe?

so then is it or is it not worth getting? also does this mean you do not know of a price?

backs are not the same, when you rifle they make a movie looking thing. have you seen the stickman deck? it does this in a corner on that deck.

I think it is safe to assume that it is limited. D&D have yet to continuously stock a deck they created, in their store. As for the amount they printed.... I would assume quite a few.

Also, what timezone is D&D using for the launch? 12pm...PST?? EST??. My bad if it is written on their site somewhere, I just cannot seem to find it.

They didn't write it. I guess they forgot.
And I believe it's to be PST, since they are in LA, and they always use PST time zone.

I would say that these will indeed be limited, and also worth buying. I have many decks in my collection that I don't perform with. You will never see me bust out a GA and say "pick a card" lol. So, that being said, those of us who are collectors have no reason not to buy this deck. It looks like there was a lot of work that went into it and I really like how different it is. I will definitely be buying some.

Exactly! I think I am going to order seven, so that way I will have one to mess around with, and a half brick (due to my OCD) to have sealed.

The Bucks are twins Dan and Dave Buck. They are the ones who produced the "Smoke and Mirror" series, "The Fantastique" deck along with a few others. They are some of the greatest flourishers in the world and have been on t.v. Many I times due to their immense ammount of skill.

I agree the lack of colour really ruins the deck for me but it has such a fantasy genre going on about it I might end up getting a few anyway, it gives off such an Alice in Wonderland kinda feel. I bet if the Mad Hatter had a deck of cards it'd be these.

In my opinion, the deck is pretty sweet for the design but if they add some colors that would be the best.. It would look so cool with the short movie cause by the backs

yes thanks levi for the magazine info, also I prefer decks that have that nice black and white feel, yet the design has to go with it. with the deck im working on it will be 4 colors and i have one that i need to think more with that might get the black and white with it ;)

We pretty much knew it was limited. D&D havent had a continuously printed deck and if they were going to, it wouldn't look like the fantastique deck.

Guys; it won't be more difficult than any other deck to put back in order, just do it face up  :P

I'm kind curious because if the back is a flipbook, it's essentially a marked deck...

The Uncut sheets for this deck would be awesome, does anyone know around how much an uncut sheet would cost? I never paid attention before now, so I am unsure of how much the v5,6s ones went for on the site.

I believe the v6 uncut was $30, I may be wrong, but i agree that an uncut of this deck would look extremely cool. If they do come out with one I might have to get it, even though I am not really a fan of uncuts

I totally didn't think of uncuts.
But if it does exist, I might buy it. Cause it's really interesting - the first uncut sheet of animated deck.

I learned my lesson from getting screwed out of the Monarchs this morning (due to their inconsistent timers) so I got right on it with these and got my deck ordered promptly. Threw in an Aristocrats into my order (which I've been meaning to get anyways) to make the ouch-level shipping slightly more palatable. $7, really guys? Oh well, gotta pay to play.

They either aren't as rare as D&D say or their isnt a huge market from them because they are still in stock.

Ya, I picked up 4, one to open and 3 to keep sealed for my collection. I am curious to what the "Standard" shipping method is to Canada. I am going to assume its USPS first class..... in which case, their quote is pretty high. If I am wrong and it is priority, than its not too bad of a deal.

Really like the trailer for these and the deck itself look fantastic or should I say fantastique. As far as the limited quantity I'm pretty sure these wont be around for long, the release time was early for some and so once works finished and people see they're up I'm sure they'll be gone soon enough.

You can really see alot of work has gone into these and I cant wait to riffle the deck and see the imagery change. I like the v4-v6 decks but in comparison the amount of artwork on these is so much more.

Oh and shipping for me to the UK for 5 decks, was $23 so it's very expensive but it's either that or nothing and I like these very much so I didn't want to miss them.

It's more rare than v6, but they are still in stock because the demand are not that big as v6.
And people don't buy them 4-5 bricks like they did with v6.

I know of someone who bought 4 bricks, I bought 2 bricks. Surprising that a day later they are not sold out yet. Can't wait to have them in hand

I'm thinking that maybe this deck didn't go to the other sellers, so it's D&D site who is selling all of them.
And maybe that D&D are keeping v6 for their personal use (or using it in variety box or collector box in the future) more than keeping the fantastique decks.

Well it is known that the held some V6 for personal and variety boxes...but more so than the Fantastique?? Doubtful. They are putting the Fantastique in the variety boxes as well (even though the boxes are sold out) and I see the Fantstique being more collectible in the long run

Just because I was going to resell them doesn't make me greedy.

The hidden picture book is really unique though, I love them, saddly I only have enough money to pick up two of all the decks I want right now (Mana, Seasons, Infinity, Fantastique, and Artiface V1s if I can find more of them)
