I love the playing card boxset
anyone also like this kind of set?

That was an Ellusionist boxed set for their "alcohol" decks - all the designs are based on fictional alcohol brands.  It's kind of cool, but since I no longer drink, I don't collect alcohol-related decks these days.  I also don't collect tobacco-related decks.

NEO:WAVE Ultra Edition by Montenzi and printed by Cartamundi with cold foil on both sides of the cards. Looks stunning and handles very, very nicely.  I'm super impressed with this deck.

Silk (Red Edition) from Lotrek of Oath Playing Cards. Gold foil on both front and back of every card is stunning. The super thin foil lines create a 3Dish background resembling woven silk fabric. It's so incredibly detailed for only one foil.

For many here, a couple of $10 decks from Target & an $8 deck from Walgreen's probably wouldn't be all that exciting. But for a newbie like me, picking up blue & green Monarchs and a pack of Black Tiger Backs constitutes a pretty big day!!!

It's never about how big or fancy the collection is - it's about whether it makes you happy.

Latest pick ups from Calaveras- a Belgian art gallery with online store.

An awesome screen print - picture shared from the webstore because I didn't unwrap mine completly (in a moving and no frame yet) - and two nice decks designed by Cédric Volon. He is a Belgian-Mexican artist that did an allright Mexican themed deck (Santo Mexico) and an awesome Belgian themed deck (Gallia Belgica).
Stock quality is meh. The Santo Mexico is printed in Mexico by Cartamundi and the Gallia Belgica is printed by Shenzen Wangjin Printing Co. But as mentioned before the Gallia Belgica has an awesome wood-cut style and is fully custom. Suits are for example instead of diamonds a cone with chips (french fries). Very whimsical overall and definetly a recomendation from my side, if you can excuse the stock quality.

Those are some pretty cool-looking decks.  It's a shame the Belgian-themed one doesn't have a better printer - I've seen some really gorgeous cards that look awesome but feel terrible and handle marginally better than wet newspaper because an artist opted to go with a cheap printer or cheap stock.

I've finally be able to put most of my collection back on display. Still have new new pieces on the way, but this is my collection in its current state. Not shown (as it was tough to get all in one photo) are another two lower shelves stocked with miscellaneous decks.

Picked up some beauties that I guess a lot are familiar with and need not really an introduction. Cool thing about the Venexiana is that I found them for retail sitting in a local magic shop. I was eyeballing them for months now and decided to pull the trigger.
The USPCC Joker & Thief were a pleasant surprise regarding the stock. The batch this print run got is butter! Edges on the smoother side and overall just how I love my USPCC cards to feel, awesome :D.

I've been making quite a few additions since getting back into collecting so I'll just post an overall picture. Hoping to be adding a Gold Arabesque and the upcoming Crypt deck to my collection soon as well.

The tilt is strong with this one. Great collection, definitely a lot of stuff that I'd like to fill my shopping bag with  ;).
How is the Derren Brown set? I'm eyeballing it like forever but ultimately the tuckboxes look too cheap for me to justify the price tag. I love the idea though and the cards plus the box itself look very nice and well executed.

Haha, thanks. At least the image seems to orientate itself correctly when clicked on (for me at at least). In general I am quite pleased with the Derren Brown set. I have not cracked either of the decks open but I am very happy with the look of the set, adds some nice character to the display. The set is definitely one people (non playing card collectors) notice and comment on when they see my collection. For me, I think the deck by itself is nice, but I felt like I needed the whole package to really make it a nice addition to my collection.

Yup, it tilts itself for me as well. Regarding the Derren Brown set, it definitely is a nice box set. Only the price tag kinda rubs me the wrong way. I guess I'm still undecided, lol.

I saw the creator of that octopus posting on reddit a while back. Fun stand/display for sure. Perfect for IAOCP, HMNIM or for tighter wallets J&T's Seafarers  :).

Good morning guys

I hope you are keeping safe and well.

I have recently made an online card game which is a game quite similar to Golf and Rat-a-tat Cat. It is a memory game, and the game tests your memory and speed. It is best played on the computer but it is possible to play on the mobile.  It?s free to play and it would be great to hear your members? thoughts. My friend has designed the cards and I think you?ll love them, examples attached.

The website can be found here: playrafiki.com

Rules of how to play here: https://youtu.be/sJ6kyZtVeG4

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Best wishes
Anna

Good morning guys

Came across these fabulous cards on this online card game which is quite similar to Golf and Rat-a-tat Cat. Absolutely loved the designs and had to share, website is here: playrafiki.com.

Rules of how to play here: https://youtu.be/sJ6kyZtVeG4

Let me know your thoughts.

My thoughts?  That you're being very disingenuous in that you didn't simply "come across these fabulous cards," but in fact you're associated with the website selling them - hence the reason your email address shares the same domain as the website.

We're not entirely opposed to people promoting a product here - but you should do so honestly, because when you aren't honest, you look like you have something to hide and/or you shouldn't be trusted.  It also doesn't hurt if you become a contributing member of the community and not just an ad-generating machine.

So, would you like to try that introduction again?  :))

Yo!

It's been a while. Years, in fact. Now that I've got career sorted and some savings, I can finally return to a bit of good ol' card collecting again :D

I've purchased a small number of decks recently to test out the newer card stocks and innovations, and I'm still in the process of putting each deck through about 10 hours of shuffling so that I can decide what does and doesn't work for me. Seems like thin crushed stocks have become a big thing in the last 5 years or so.

In the mean time, I purchased a bunch of Carat Creations' DS1 deck sleeves for some of my favourite decks in my stash. I really like them. A nice, inexpensive, and almost invisible way to add a bit of extra protection to your new and sealed decks. I highly recommend them 👍
With this signature I'm following the example set by Fes: There is only ONE letter L in my display name. "Holly" is a female name... and I'm a bearded guy who's into weightlifting. There's nothing feminine about me brother!
