Two New and Upcoming Releases from Dan & Dave!

On Dan & Dave's website, they have just posted a 24-hour countdown ending tomorrow at 8 PST. Based on their Facebook feed, the two releases might be the Industrial version of their Carbon Clip and a new cardistry DVD by Anthony Chanut.

I can't wait to see their two releases especially Chanut's release because their trailer features "Midnight City", a favorite of mine.

What do you think the releases will be? Are you looking forward to them?

I dont think it will be V7 but it does make sense since its a carbon clip and v7 is the carbon edition.

It might not be the v7's, because, if they were, D&D would create MUCH, MUCH more hype...unless, they'd like to avoid last year's (Was the v6 release last year? I don't even remember anymore.) fiasco. I still fondly remember it too. Tried to score an uncut sheet, but didn't happen. Settled for maybe half a brick of v6's instead.

Edit: Plus, I've messaged Syd about a week ago, and he stated that the v7 release won't be until later in the year.

Certainly no v7. They will more likely be releasing a new leg lotion to be sure your legs are perfect when performing. Cause a magician without smooth legs isn't a magician

I dont think it will be V7 but it does make sense since its a carbon clip and v7 is the carbon edition.

Actually, have they formally announced what v7 would look like?  I think everyone's been assuming "carbon edition" because of a photo with that caption of the black card that came in the v6 pack - a photo that was being circulated before v7 was even announced.  For all we know, it could be the "little pink ponies" edition!

The Arrcos are nice, but I'm a little confused about some things.

On the site, they announced that these are "limited to 2,500 sets in antique red and dark blue."  But at the "add to cart" section, they're allowing a color choice.  Are the "sets" two decks of the same color?  I hope it's not individual pricing, because nearly $12 each is a little steep.

Also, they stated that these are "printed using our trademark finish from the USPCC to insure quality and longevity."  But these look to be the same cards that Dealing Deuces was selling.  And I bought some without the serial-numbered stickers and foil wrapper (same exact deck in all other ways) from Pokerstud52.  So were they all selling Dan and Dave's "trademark finish"?

BTW: they really are nice.  Good slip, well made.  My "original" style Arrcos in green and black have become all dumpy on me, but all of my other Arrcos are still top notch, including these.

FYI the new carbon clip will not have synthetic carbon fibre it's the real deal in this one, so don't be surprised if the prices are higher. I think I've just prevented a massive argument over price...

I don't see the point of why anyone needs that in the first place ._. , if you encountered a gunman, the first place he would shoot is ... your playing card collection.

  You know that carbon fiber isn't the same as Kevlar, right?  That it's not generally used as an anti-ballistic material?  It's a strong reinforcing material used in design, but it's not bullet-resistant, to the best of my knowledge.  My old ballistic vest didn't have an ounce of carbon fiber in it.


All carbon fiber is "synthetic" in the sense that you never see it occurring naturally, just as complaining about a deck being "plastic coated" is silly because nearly all the finishes used on playing cards would be classified as a plastic, right down to Magic Finish.  The only way it should make a difference is if either a) the original carbon fiber deck clip wasn't really made of carbon fiber but a look-alike material instead, b) the design is radically changed, using more carbon fiber, c) Dan and Dave feel like charging more, or d) some combination of the above.

Carbon fibre is considered a light weight material not an armour.
It is used in high performance cars.
In the carbon clip it is a fake (synthetic version) of carbon fibre. Dan and Dave are making an actual, real carbon fibre card clip.

J&T - thanks for that info!  Besides what I wrote, I know it tends to be pretty expensive - hence the use in high-performance cars and professional-grade racing bikes.  Light, strong - but not anti-ballistic.  I've also seen car customizers using overlays of carbon fiber to make their cars look more like the high-performance models.  Y'know, like sticking a giant spoiler on the back or some extra exhaust pipes or some decals that let your car pretend to be a better car than it really is...

I think expensive is the only word in D&Ds vocab. also that smiley is so old the cave men don't remember it.
