My oh so lovely backers!
We did it! We stormed the castle, we slayed the dragon, and now we will loot all the treasure. That treasure, your rewards, are now swinging into high gear as I collect all your reward information, prep the files for manufacture and send them to print. Of course, this will take a few weeks to complete and for Amazon and Kickstarter to release the funds. In the meantime, a quick little update regarding the status of manufacturing.
About a week ago, I told you that I was looking to create a better product for you with the opportunity for stretch goals. Since then, you have managed to simultaneously blow my mind, my stretch goal ideas, and my initial $6000 funding goal out of the water. In total, I am 209% over my intended goal and I would like to show you my gratitude with some wicked extra credit for you fine folks.
Every deck will now come with 12 quick reference monthly cards putting the deck at 60 cards total. You can use these monthly reference cards to keep track of turns as well as teach new people the monthly suites. On top of the quick reference cards, each deck will contain an instruction manual with a more in depth discussion of the suites and rules for my favorite hanafuda game, Koi Koi. I'm still waiting for a final quote, but the goal here is to have the cards printed on a higher quality paper with a nice linen finish.
So, that's where we stand! As always, you can contact me through Kickstarter if you have any questions about how to proceed or leave a comment below. I'm super excited for this next part of the process and I can't wait to send you my hanafuda deck. Again, keep an eye out for your backer information survey and thank you everyone for your support!
Keep it classy!
-Sarah

I invested in this one for two decks and two digital month images.  I'm looking forward to seeing the quality and handling.  I don't think I've ever seen a hanafuda deck on poker-sized cards before.

You mean BIGGER than poker size - 2.75 by 4.72 inches to be precise. ;)
I also pledged for two decks. Have you filled the shipping information/picked your digital copies yet? I went for January and October.
Can't wait to see how they handle, and perhaps try a couple games.

Oh, yes, that's right.  Most hanafuda decks I've heard of are somewhat smaller than even bridge-sized.

If she made an index on the cards, in English and Japanese, that would have been the perfect addition to this design.  Nothing big or garish, but enough so that the cards in hand can be squeezed into a poker hand and you can read all the values.  Perhaps next time.

I opted for my and my fiancee's birthday months, August and September.

That's a nice way of making a choice!
I chose January because of the crane on the last card, for personal reasons. And October because they look awesome and I'm Canadian so maple leaves are fitting. ;)

Maple leaves...  I used to have an awesome lapel pin, a US flag on the left crossed with a Canadian flag on the right.  Lost the blasted thing decades ago.  I don't suppose you run into those much, do you?

I don't think I've seen one of those recently, but if I do, I'll let you know. ;)
(A quick google search gave me this: http://i00.i.aliimg.com/photo/v0/336196246/us_and_canada_flag_lapel_pin_xdm.jpg   Is it the same design you're refering to?)

Anyway, back to topic, has anyone else pledged for those cards? I don't remember anyone besides Don, but I might have missed someone...

That's the exact same pin!  (I guess I know where it went after all these years... )  :))

I think we're the only two.  Since it was neither USPC nor a 52+2 poker deck, no one else was interested.
