Playing Card Plethora / Re: Pressers Deck from Ellusionist
« on: December 16, 2013, 08:04:17 AM »
Just wanted to weigh in with my two cents on this deck!

I managed to pick up one from JP Playing Cards over here in the UK.

All i can say is wow, this is one fantastic deck. The feel of the cards are incredible and handle extremely well.

Im a mad men fanatic and to see a deck that encapsulates the golden era of advertising and the mad men theme is awesome.

Design wise, the vintage font and courts represents the style of the era and the back design is incredibly simplistic and effective. The tuck box is embossed with the Vintage Pressers logo (Does anyone know why they are called Pressers) and it kind of gives that Lucky Strike cigarette box feel.

Will have to buy another at some point to stick on display.

Bravo, Ellusionist.

Intriguing blue box then.

Bold font - hope they go with a bold redesign! Could be interesting!

I was maybe too quick to jump on the shift happening, but with the Madison decks flying off the virtual shelves and now this design certain to follow suit, i think we will see a few more designs without the BORDERS ;)

I really like this deck, fab boarderless design - are we starting to see a shift towards boarderless deck design??

Looking at the face of the cards is anyone else getting the MISC Goods' esque vibe??

Really a great, clean deck and i will certainly look to buy a few of these bad boys and even make a staple performing deck.

haha Cheers Paul! Nice little tenner won there! I have responded to your tweet :)

Hi Guys

Wandering if you could help me out!

Ive got a gold seal Deck signed by Zenneth. However i cant find his Autograph anywhere on the net as proof. Ive got a tenner riding on it - what does Zenneth's autograph look like on the box?

Cheers!

Hey Scott,

As you bought it from me, and I bought it from Zenneth directly! I can categorically say it is real! :D By the way, I replied to your tweet just now.

Beautiful deck of cards, love the design work and love the fact that there are M's in the logo (same surname Initial).

Can't wait to give these bad boys a go. Got a cheeky Scarlet deck aswell, this will remain sealed!

Has anyone mastered the marking system yet? Any tips on doing so?

You do it the same way you get to Carnegie Hall.  Practice, practice, practice!  :))

Do a little memorizing, then try reading the card backs and see how accurate you are.  Do it over and over until it becomes second nature to you.  Then put it down for a few days, pick it up and see how well you remembered the marking system.  If you still know it cold, great.  If not, you do it again the same way you get to Carnegie Hall.

Thank you Don, will ensure I practice practice practice.

Had a few problems lately hence my absence from the forum and card magic in general - nice to hear from a friendly face on my re-entry to the Aether space - cheers :)

Sweet looking deck!

Interested by why Caveat Emptor is on on the Ace. Caveat Emptor means 'let the buyer beware', must be some secrets in the deck.

After having a play with this deck, i really cant fault it! I managed to snag a set of the three colours and went for a few extra decks of green to play around with.

The deck's design is as you can all see, fantastic and they handle superbly, even after handling for hours. They are certainly durable and i expect them to last a lot longer!

I love the decks green colour although the inks arent metallic.

If you havent picked up a set, do so, they are a joy to work with.

Looks great - thanks for sharing!

In future, if you use sharp object, ensure there is an adult around to supervise - and if you must use a knife without an adult ensure you cut away from your body.

 ;)

Re: the metallic inks! Thanks for your responses! I guess i was expecting the same kind of effect as the silver split spades!

16
I think the quality of cards are fantastic, however im not totally impressed with metallic colour! Doesnt seem too metallic at all!

I think its a fantastic deck and i love the theme!

I will be backing you without a doubt being a UK backer, am sure American backers may be concerned that the offer of free postage is too good to be true though!
I thought $12 a deck including shipping is reasonable.

Im not disputing its not unreasonable Alvinhy, im happy to pay the money to back you!

You know the project better than me (obviously)! As Don says it may have been an advantage to find a distributor in the states to take delivery of the decks bound for the US, therefore you wouldnt have had to pay two loads of shipping... There have been a lot of kickstarter projects that struggle to pay for themselves due to postage.

Im really excited about this deck and cant wait to see it come to life!

« on: January 15, 2013, 06:12:14 AM »
Anywhere between $30 and $60 based on current pricing and my experience with purchasing them. I could be off by a bit though. If you want to do fanning with them, you can forget it. However, they do hold together quite well for flourishes and cuts. From a collectors point of view they are nice to own but I wouldn't lose sleep over them.

Thanks Ag, they would purely be for collecting purposes so will actually never open the deck!
