Playing Card Plethora / Re: Bicycle® SEVEN SEAS PREVIEW - KICKSTARTER
« on: December 22, 2013, 12:10:12 PM »
Got me an Early Bird when there was 5 left, all gone now.

BV: Can you tell us a bit more about the dealer coin? Material, finish, edges etc.

A limited $10 tier has been added  ;)

Damn, 77 $7 Early Birds and now more at $10? Love it when someone puts others to shame on EBs, specifically the people that have a mere 10-20 Early Birds that are $1 cheaper than the regular price lol

Here's a tip: Instead of paying $12 for fontaines, you could just buy a blue NOC ($5) and a white sharpie (~$3).

You're welcome!

thank you for suggested, we Vietnamese have had tried, worked  8)

That... is awesome  :D

You know, I actually do have some moldy old GNuggets somewhere that I bought in my early days of collecting. I might just give this a try.

57
Any idea about the name?

Yeah - they're called "Gatorback Riders"...like in the title of the topic...  :))

Did you have something else in mind when you asked?

If you meant, "Do I approved of the name?", well, it's OK.  As good as any other.

I meant why the Gator part? I can't see any alligators, which is what I'd assumed.

Look closer, there's 4 of them near the middle ;)

All I could think of while watching that
was this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afi7_01GnxY

I mean what if someone comes at you with a banana and a clean deck of cards.
Do you have to eat the cards too?

But what about the crazed attacker with the loganberries?

In the case of the cards, I think you have to do the first half of a torn and restored routine.

In the case of the loganberries, you're screwed.

Snagged an EB, but unless they improve this I doubt I'll hold on to it. Very minimalistic project page (not in a good way), only 2 face cards shown, blatant 1-way back...

Don: customers for you  ::)

Someone needs to find the thread here where we coated cards in fanning "butter" ;)

Butter...

http://aethercards.com/discourse/the-lol-a-query-um/fanning-butter/

Soap...

http://aethercards.com/discourse/playing-card-plethora/soaping-a-deck/

Bananas...

Be right back. I'm experimenting with "Fanning Lube". These cards will be gliding like air in no time!

Hey, don't knock the soap - it works!

I am not shaking your hand until you clean off that "fanning lube" with some bleach...

There's another idea. Purell on cards, for the poker deck from that wild bachelor party.

I recommend going to the Virts' website and signing up through facebook (which you have to do to see the videos), they have free full tutorials of some nice beginner flourishes. I'm working on the Rev 2 right now.

Coming to D&D, The Buck's Cleaning Bananas, only $99.99!  Or take advantage of the bulk savings, get 6 cleaning bananas for $594.99!!

That's an unfair shot, I adore D&D's cards.

That's why it's not D&D, it's D$D  ;)

And these are potshots they've deserved with all of their "luxury" products. Their cards are fine, their business methods - not so much (IMO).

I don't think I would try this. Then again, I don't own any vintage decks and take extremely good care of any deck I use.

$8.95 single deck with free poster pack (pdf file print at home)
$17.90    2 decks with poster pack
$26.85    3 decks with poster pack
$44.75    5 decks with poster pack and free faro tutorial
$99.95    12 decks with poster pack and free faro tutorials

You also have tutorials ranging from $4 to $8  or you can buy the 4 pack tutorial for a discount

he has 35 uncut sheets going for $77.  I am not going to do all permutations for shipping prices international  but for a brick it's $26.5 shipping and for one deck it is $14 international. By the way those shipping prices are international  he has different prices for Canada

I paid $16 international for 3 decks.

Probably an "incorrectly" described or layman termed sepia box. Can't say for sure, but I doubt we would hear of a new Split Spades deck from someone other than DB himself.

Congratulations Tom!
Feels like two worlds have collided. I am excited to learn and have just bought my first brick on Kickstarter.
Also excited to share knowledge about my main interest - Antique US - Non Standard Playing Cards.

Shaffique - great to see you here. Suggest you post a few details of your playing card history on the "Introduce Yourself board. For the rest of you I'll give you a hint. Shaffique has no doubt the most extensive collection of American non-standard decks from the beginnings in the mid 1800's until the WWII period. It is awesome!

First guess - 25th of December 2013

Second guess - 26th of December 2013

I sure don't but I heard there is a secret Taiwan card producing factory.  Maybe you can take some pictures and do some recon.
Thread is here: http://aethercards.com/discourse/playing-card-plethora/2nd-edition-fatboys/msg83231/#msg83180

Don said,
"That factory is one of the best-kept industry secrets right about now.  There's only a small number of people who know the name and address of the place, and they're not talking.  I know many people who know it - and they STILL won't tell me!  They're the closest thing to a competitor to USPC in terms of quality of manufacturing.  I've been recently messing with my Legends and I was shocked to find that the quality had actually IMPROVED with use.  They fan completely smoothly now and the stock is still as snappy as it was on day one."

Come back and tell us your findings.  This might help you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ebAssCr990

Um, I think he'd rather just buy cards and play tourist than skulk around factories in an industrial district...  :))

But playing spy is much more fun than playing tourist  ;D  8)

Meanwhile, D$D still sells carbon-printed $25 Porpers for $95  :-\

My apologies for not making everything clear. We would love to have you as a UK member. As Tom said, 20% of the 52+ membership is not located in America. Hell, Tom and I are both in Canada!

I simply wanted to show you the UK options, that's all.

Again, sorry for the confusion.
I was just poking a bit of fun, Lee. Probably should've put a sarcasm tag in there somewhere  :P
