Playing Card Plethora / Re: Introducing: EPC Lucite Deck Display Cases!
« on: September 14, 2015, 04:23:35 AM »
Thats true, and this simple framing principle is used for ages, way before illusionist introduced them to the card market.

I really like them and also the realistic price tag :D

concerning inlays to modify the width: Please leave it poker size or make it custom orders. I worked with PMMA to very high standards in the medical sector and I'cant imagine that those inlays will be invisible. especially not in a stand which is meant to be looked at closely. And then taking into account the various different paper stocks for the boxes...

I also like that approach. Looks good ;)
I understand that cards should be practical, but from my experience fully customized decks are mostly for collectors or nice to look at. Unless you play with experienced players on a clean table your cards would be destroyed after one evening and people who are into fully customized decks appreciate them too much to play with them. But maybe thats just me..;)

from an artistic point of view, and I guess thats what you were aiming for, consistency is way more important than readability. The last version with the stronger pips does not look as elegant anymore. Why leave your design ideas and use too many line thicknesses. players who won't be able to read it properly won't play with custom playing cards anyway. its mainly a collectors or playing card enthusiasts item, so why reduce the art aspect for some practical reason. no artist should do that, if one has to sacrifice some of his design ideas for that.

So how do the new pips look like? I like  the new back design, but I wasn't a big fan of the first card faces, looked more like a children's card game to me. Do you have more pics?

Although I'm a big fan of borderless and colored borders, the back design doesn't seem to need the red border. Why not white and practical since the design contains white elements anyways?

Deck Reviews! / Re: [vid] Hive 2 - Brendan Hong - Kings Wild Project
« on: September 01, 2015, 10:47:43 AM »
nice deck, How do they look in a fan? the pips seem critical big and far away from the border. I noticed that also on other kings wild project, but I don't personally own one to test it? How good is it for fanning?
thanks ;)

@Lee
I also read your booklet and broke the 605 in accordingly months ago, but I still can't get perfect fans. Don't get me wrong, I really love the quality of the 605 decks and I rarely handled finer cut decks.  they are among my favorite decks for the card table, but I find they can't compare to the air cushion finish when it comes to fanning. Did i do something wrong breaking them in? I Also have never seen a nice fan with them on youtube so far. How are you experiences with 605s for flourishing?
thanks

Magical Cardistry Bonanza / Re: Different Decks for magic
« on: August 06, 2015, 07:04:47 AM »
I can't speak for different countries overseas, but here in Europe, there aren't really common brands like bicycle in the US. So I never had any problems performing here with different decks. I use bicycle decks regulary although the only persons who use them here in Germany are magicians ;) But I never had any problems with someone suspecting a deck. As long as you are consistent with the decks you use and don't use different backs for a packet trick for example,  you should be fine. Unfortunately I have no insight how it is in the US. As  a bicycle deck seems to be in every house.  @DonBoyer: I never payed attention to that fact, but it really seems to convince the audience if the deck has standard faces. although standard poker faces weren't standard here in Europe. Just during the last 10 to 15 years with the poker hype, the american cards become famous. we usually use the french faces for playing cards and we also have country specific cards in some regions (south of Germany or spain for example).

Hard to tell the true color from he lighting, but I like the new green touch to it. maybe we still get the the black color variation?

63
Yes, I got a receipt and a confirmation that they started shipping. Let's see, if they can track it down.

64
The problem is I shipped it with tracking number, but it can't be found by the system. very strange case. I will see what DHL can do.

65
Are you sure that he is the same guy? I also did business with him (Alvin Ling) , but I sold him a deck of green rarebit playing cards 6 weeks ago and he contacted me now, that they never arrived. I started an investigation request now with DHL and I'm waiting for their response. Seems I have to be careful, with whom I'm dealing. But to his defense, He paid on time per paypal. I keep you updated.

Thank you

I like the deck, although it seems to get a lot of hate, due to its simple design and marketing hype.

Although I don't have a sharp deck, from what I read the marking seems to use the same optical principles as a standard juice deck. Whereas they might be hard to read (but thats the main advantage, being deceptive) they are nice in gambling scenarios but not so useful for magic. Marked decks for the magic purpose are usually heavier marked.

I would be interested in a mixed pair as well, depending on the international shipping costs. Do you know how much it will be?
thanks

Introduce Yourself / Hi from Germany
« on: March 23, 2015, 09:01:00 PM »
Hi folks,
I'm a student from Germany who found his passion in playing cards while learning card magic. I'm not the biggest collector but since I started concentrating on gambling moves, I know to appreciate the good feel of the ohio decks which got me started in getting a small collection. I'm looking forward to learn a lot more about playing cards here and maybe grow my collection.

greetings,
Chris

I never handled a pair of JNs but how do they compare to the new EPCC company decks? I mean USPCC makes good decks, but the majority can't hold up to the consistent quality of EPCC or Fournier. And by the way, how do they fan if the finish is different on both sides?

74
I don't remember the price, but I was surprised when i saw them on eBay for around 100$ each. So if you know the store you should get those decks ;) No guarantee for the price though, but i remember it being high.

75
OK don't worry, Then I was to late. Keep me up to date please, if they are still available again ;) cheers
