Magical Cardistry Bonanza / Re: D&D evil kickstarter project...
« on: April 28, 2013, 06:51:29 PM »
i think they are just trying to make more fans. the current playing card community is pretty angry with their releases with S&M. it's time to let go the old and angry fans and make new ones.

27
i think it's the community's best interest not to know the printing company.
The reason I said that it's because a lot of people think that any deck printed not by USPCC is crap.
This happens because of how USPCC market themselves and major companies that sells deck are US base. Yes, support local business is great but fall into the trap that other country make crappy products.
Now "USPCC is the only good enough printing shop" is proven to be incorrect by the MsM and Lengends deck. we should really focus more on the deck itself than who printed it.

side note: I wonder if anyone who actually believe that Taiwan printed deck is just as good as USPCC if David Blaine is not behind all this? anyone?

for people like me who doesnt own any S&M. the box is perfect. D&D made a smart choice by letting go the old customers and try to suck in new customers.

got my ogma today!
i tried out the illusion thing they had in the video and it works! it's exactly the same as the video. the only thing is you really have to focus on the centre and let your eye do the rest while moving the card REALLY slowly in circular motion.

"In 2010 stories and artwork were discovered in a book from the early 1700’s that appear to provide evidence about a secret society of magicians. Formed to protect magicians during the Salem Witch Trials of the late 1600’s, the Order of the Owl was founded in the Northeastern US. We have painstakingly restored and recreated the artwork we found in order to put this deck into the hands of modern magicians and keep the memory of this society alive. Some believe that the order still exists, though we cannot be sure. Secrets are everywhere."

yet another skulkor like marketing...
the things in bold makes be believe they all hired the same person for marketing... or copying each other...it's kind of funny in a way

Is that from the blue crown website?

yes it is. it's from TBC

Well, I can't say what - but this deck actually has something more to it than the others griped about on this site.  Did you order any Altruisms?

not yet but i will be after i sell out some old collection. hopefully they are still available by then

what a nice way to jack up some more money. XD

Signed items...never a fan of those...for all i know..an office lady could fake it and sign it off. I never believe anything signed unless it's face to face.

skype session..really..they can probably schedule it during their lunch break and have it then so they are "making money" during break. nice!

I haven't yet to meet the E's free gifts but it think it's pretty reasonable.

I have DD's membership but honestly. it's a $100 dollar discount card and not a membership. No coupon code would be valid on top of the member discount. to me i think that is very stupid. a "member" should have more benefit than a non member.

I also have Skulkor's member USB card. aside from their bad start i think they way they are pouring out money make it worth it to have the ring but more to come i guess.

the way T11 doing is just not working out for me. nothing rare and nothing special. if 10 000 point gets me to t11 head office and spend a day with them and the card.i would find it interesting i might think about saving up my point. other wise ill redeem it whenever.

I like them but I hope the actual card doesn't cause the dizziness like the pic they posted

i think it's the pattern that is causing the dizziness . it's optical illusion like what they are promoting. it's interesting. anyone know if any company done this before??

42
not trying to discourage any artist but you have to be realistic.

not many people care about how much effort and time an artist put into their work. the reality is it has to get commercialized. majority of the people just have to like it. it can be detail or it can be simple.

I know a lot of people hates the color change but the reality is ..it works. people just buy them. The company makes more money and they have more resource to actually make a new deck.

you really have to consider yourself (if you are the artist) on payroll. the more time you spend the higher the cost. even if kickstarter is fully funded but the X amount of net profit dollar gain doesn't add up to your payroll then it just means that you wasted time or you lost money.

if this is the first deck you are trying to create then obviously you are setting yourself up for failure. better to pull out than spend more time. time is money every second you spend on a failing project is money you are draining from another project.

I really believe that people have a misconception that kickstarter is a place you start your dream and people pledge because they "support" you.  If you still think this way. THINK AGAIN! that line is only valid to people that are pledge. kickstarter has to give an illusion that people aren't "buying" they are supporting a dream which work out perfect for them. they are the top crow funding platform. but if you are a artist, kickstarter is a good platform to get your first bucket of cash. so you must consider all expense.

sounds harsh that's what i think. if anyone that disagree please PM me or we can start a new thread. i just don't want this to take over the main focus.

This is to report a scam happened to me lately.
The person scammed me was Robert Butler. yes the creator of pip squeek and Conjuring Creations.
you can find his facebook here "https://www.facebook.com/robert.butler.58/"

It was a big amount but I did recover from paypal. No thanks to him. total scammer and a liar.

Warning to everyone! Do not do business with him. it's a total waste of time and money. He is not the type that would fix his own mistake.

If you would, please, give the details of your transaction.  I'm sure we'd like to hear the details before I give anyone a negative mark as a trading partner.

It seems he has been on a roll lately. Check out the thread in PCP.

Hi everyone!

My story is that i ordered around 25 decks and 1 uncut sheet.

At first it was from Josh Kuperstein's post regarding package. then he tells me that the seller is not him it's actually Rob.

Rob and I had a deal for $314. As soon as we complete the pricing i paid him full amount via paypal 2 hours later since he promised that he would ship out on the same day and give me the tracking number as soon as he has it. This transaction was july 26.

The day went by and I never got the tracking. Few more days after that still no reply.

Then he tells me that he got injure so he can't mail it out. a week later he said he will mail out that day but that didn't happen. few days after that i ask for tracking number and he said he forgot in the car and have to wait for his wife to come home then he stop replying for a few days.

then i ask how long it would take for that shipment to go from US to Canada. then he reply me with "Canada??"

that is when i realized that something is wrong. then he tells me that he mail out to the wrong person.

As of that day. he delayed my package for around 2.5 weeks. (aug 13 +/- a day or 2)

I asked for a refund but he just say no can't do, already spend them all.

He said he will try to contact the person and get the package back and get it to me.
of course that didn't happen.

2 days later still no solution from him so I clearly told him that on Aug 30 i want my package in my hand or i want to see full refund in my papal account.

I gave him 2 weeks to get money or find a solution for me. So don't say i did not give him a chance.

after that i follow up with him every other day to see how he is doing. He told me that he is selling collectible and deck to get me my money (this is when he is actively selling the JAQK coins).

1 week later. he said he won't have enough money for full refund. I propose him that half refund and half replacement items (I can't believe i have to find my own solution when someone else screw up).

He agreed and he start to gather some item for me to confirm but i did't like the package since the value just doesn't match up. he didn't reply for a few days.

then he try to offer me Encarded printing plates as a replacement but i turn it down.

At this point, Josh Kuperstein messaged on Facebook ask me if i got my package and i said no and we had a little discussion about the problem we both had with Rob. Then we both said that Rob actually offer both of us the Encarded printing plate.

That's when everything came out of the water. at that moment i knew that Rob will not give me my money back or a replacement. He is just playing me.

On Aug 29, he said that he has no replacement and no money to give m. he also close his paypal account because the guy that has my package is giving him a hard time.

On aug 30. i just file a dispute and get it to a claim right away. I had to wait 15 days for the process and eventually i got my money back but i lose money because of currency exchange.

If you tell me this is NOT a scam. I really believe you need to think twice.

If you don't believe he is a scammer then place go to Facebook group and communities page. I post the exact same post on there. people are replying me with their bad experiences with Rob. There is no doubt that many people think he is a scammer.

If you have any bad experiences with anyone please stand up and talk! Silence will only hurt more people!! These people does not need you to protect them. They need to be point out!

after reading everyone's reply I find there is actually 1 problem with everyone's answer.

How do you define FAIR?

This is what I think after reading all the methods

method 1 - spend x amount to get a rare item.
~the deep pocket wins - they have the money to spend
~seller wins - generates sales
~ebay people win - because of the amount they must spend to get the item, it's a super high price in the after market
~small buyer gets nothing except for the few decks and watch ebay people sell with a  price they can't afford

method 2 - lottery
~seller loses -  what if the pricing is too high for the buyer. do it again? too time consuming
~seller loses -  don't get much sales generation from this since other 1 deck is 1 chance and ordering 12 decks is 1 chance..
~seller and deep pocket wins  - do get sales generation if 1 deck is 1 chance and 12 decks are 12 chances
~small buyer gets nothing
~ebay people wins if they can get lucky

method 3 - bidding
~deeper pocket wins (i use deeper pocket because it depends on your competitions and how lucky you are)
~seller wins - generate high net profit
~smaller buyer can participate and bid to what they can afford - win or lose depends on the pool
~ebay people win or lose..depends on luck! if they really want to get this item they must win the bid. if they are unlucky, they win the bid at high price that means bad sales on ebay. if they are lucky they win the bid at a low price and be able to make profit off ebay.

Conclusion is NOTHING is fair depends on what point of view you are looking at...

Side note: When you say this is stupid or it's a bad idea or you are wrong please say why. Saying it's stupid doesn't add anything to the conversation.

50
bidding style would be the best. top dollar takes home the item. 25 units meaning 25 auction at different times. this way everyone can join and have a chance to take home the item and it prevents people from buying a dozen and post on ebay for high mark up price. bidding system already makes the buyer paying top dollar thus adding mark up on ebay just would not sell at all.
