May we have the first letter of the first word of the series? (Assuming there is more than one word.) I love wild speculation!

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Ellusionist Holiday Promotion
« on: November 23, 2011, 02:05:59 AM »
Have you SEEN those prizes?! The only thing that I MIGHT not keep is the impossible bottle, as I rather opening the cards and getting the feel of them, and using them for the purpose they were made, rather than keeping them locked in a plastic wrapper for their entire life. But I'm definitely not complaining!

The reason may just be timing. I'm sorry to say it, but the pledges I have made for the Galvanic deck and the Actuators are far less than what I want them to be, and the reason is that SO many decks are coming out right now. This is hardly anyones fault, but I imagine that in maybe six months time, a KS deck will have more of a chance of succeeding (if the number of new decks dies down, that is).

Playing Card Plethora / Re: NEW DECK - CARC Professional Bicycle Riderback

At first I didn't think much of these - i thought they were just the usual barcode reveals you see on some other decks. But, when I took a closer look, I realised what it was. Brain-splosion, for a second.

But then I realised how little you can do with these. I mean, sure it's pretty cool, but there is a limit to what you can do with them. I will wait for a price before I make up my mind about this.

It's good that there's a rather large span of time in which the promotion lasts. I personally will be waiting for more pictures - maybe even a youtube review - to be released before I make my decision on whether to grab the deck or not. Luckily for me, I'm relatively new to the card collecting scene, and don't have many Ellusionist decks, so if I do decide to grab the Ltd deck, I don't have the problem of wondering what to buy.

I always like to make an informed decision before I buy anything, a lesson I've learned the hard way.  :(

The box of my Black Ghost 2nd Edition says UV500 finish.
I´m a bit confused right now :o

I believe the list Marcus posted was of the stocks/finishes that are currently available at Ellusionist. However, I think that your Black Ghosts - with the UV500 -  were purchased before they were re-printed with the "other" stock.

It's all explained here - http://blog.ellusionist.com/the-last-of-the-uv500-air-flow-decks/

I will be making sure to check this out in the future. Art-wise, I'm pretty rubbish at everything except sketching/hand drawing, but I will be sure to come back often and tell people how awesome their designs are.  :D

Isn't there an even more zoomed-out version? I'm pretty sure that they keep enlarging the picture, and eventually all we see is a close-up of her belly   ::)

The people at Ellusionist really know how to hype up a deck.  :)

Some awesome iPhone cases!!

Oh wow, those look amazing, especially the joker. However, that king looks rather constipated  :)

Back on topic, I love T-shirts and other clothing with playing card designs - I especially love Ellusionist's Arcane ace shirt.

Magical Cardistry Bonanza / Re: card palming
« on: November 14, 2011, 09:14:06 PM »
I use palming for a few tricks, and I've found that borderless decks are much easier to palm. I've also found that red Bee playing cards are harder to see if you are still flash the corners. This is especially helpful in back palming, and you nearly always flash a little corner between your fingers, but when I use my Bees and move my hand a little, it makes them nearly invisible.

I mainly use the palming for a card-to-pocket trick, and most of the time, the spectator's attention is focused elsewhere. I admit, palming took me a lot longer than other people because of my small hands, but it is by no means impossible.  :)

Thanks for these. It's amazing to see how the designs have evolved over the years.

Make that a third! I would love to get my eyes upon that deck again!

Fourth! I would love to know if the court cards are custom or not, or what the jokers are like!

Yah, seriously. I have no idea why I have 14 smites. I think that's the most anyone has.

I hate it when people get smited - especially when they have more smites that praise - so I try to applaud people whenever I can.

The Conversation Parlor / Re: Favorite Music?
« on: November 13, 2011, 05:10:55 AM »
I like to listen to music rather loud, but unfortunately my iPod dock has broken, and my laptop has quite poor speakers, which leaves me with the few CD's in my collection. Currently listen to SOAD, Linkin Park, Green Day, the Killers, and of course, the Pokemon soundtrack that I got when I was four... I play that last one more than I like to admit.  :-X

The Conversation Parlor / Re: What got you into cards?
« on: November 13, 2011, 04:58:43 AM »
What sparked your interest in cards?
My dad and I used to play card games since when I was about 3. Every once in a while, he would pull off a simple card trick, and it amazed me. This stopped for a number of years, then about six months we started playing again, and again with the simple magic tricks. However, now I was determined to figure out how he did what he did, and maybe even do some magic on my own. From there, I went on to youtube, and eventually found Ellusionist. Since then, my horizons have spread to flourishing, and even a little collecting. Collecting especially fascinates me, as I had no idea how many different brands and styles of cards there were.

Are you a magician, cardist, collector, or other?
I started off as doing magic purely as a hobby, but now I've started to do other stuff too. I love the reactions I get when I perform for my friends and family, and my focus on cardistry has has allowed me to be far less stressed out. (You'd be surprised how doing a few simple cuts can really calm you down.)

Why do you do what you do?
I love everything about it - the awe, amazement and wonder from magic, and the pleasure of finally being able to do something makes it worthwhile. Also, the more I see the community and their opinions, the more it makes me even happier!

How long have you been into cards?
Been playing card games for 13 years, but only just gotten into magic and the rest in the last 2-3 months.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: New Deck - Fairy Tale Playing Cards
« on: November 09, 2011, 09:02:27 PM »
It's a pity - I really like what they've done with the pips. However, the court cards are far too complex for me. Also, it doesn't look like too much thought went into designing the Ace of Spades.

The art on this deck is amazing, but I don't think it is best conveyed on a deck of cards.

Love the King of Hearts design, the combination of red, white and gold is absolutely stunning.

Also, what's with the KoH's eyes? His left eye on top is red, while on the bottom it's white. Could this possibly be an extremely tiny reveal, or is this just to go with the "split personality" theme?

Everyone has probably seen this, but here is a gallery with all the court cards, just in case anyone hadn't seen it. Does anyone know if these are the final designs, or if they've been tweaked?

EDIT: The gallery seems to be being updated as I post this. I love the Primavera ace of spades!

Hmm, this will still be made internationally available, right? I sure hope so! Also, it's a bit of a bummer that it's being sold on eBay. It usually means that the shipping over to New Zealand is about the same price as the cards themselves.

Where did he find that picture of my Grandma.

You're my grandson? Which one? I forget. Not that it matters though, you're all spoiled brats, always asking for money. Why, back in my day, we didn't even have money! We all just played with rocks, and we were grateful.

Odd, I always thought that the Seasons had some faint gold highlights on the backs. Was that an old concept, or am I starting to go insane?   ???
