With some subtle tracing inside to break up the space:

Here's one of the aces colored in.  I just love those dragons!  The artist wants to  know if I want more decoration within the diamond; I like it the way it is, but would love to hear your opinions.

What sorts of data are you collecting?  I've been keeping a spreadsheet of KS projects as well, collecting data on which projects are successful and which rewards are popular.

is there any more cards to see, I would like to see were this is heading. I think I could be a big fan of this deck.
He's working on the aces right now while I research the remaining court cards.  Here's some preliminary artwork for the aces; I think they're turning out very well.

Interestingly--I hadn't known this before--but the Anglo-Saxons of that era still used Roman numerals.  We briefly considered using them, but unfortunately I think that would affect the playability too much.  Would have been cool, though.

Don't get me wrong, many aspects of this deck are beautiful taken by themselves.  I think the problem is that nine different artists (!) does not make for a cohesive style.  There's just something off about it.

Now if Brian Froud were to do a fairy deck on KS...

7
Why not simply Wonderland, or Adventures in Wonderland?  (Has that been taken?)

I suspect the founders of JSC vastly overestimated the starting audience for their site, and should have had a few carefully selected projects up for funding right away instead of this voting/waiting period.  If they don't make changes soon, none of the projects will qualify.

Don't forget, both you and the U.S. Project manager will have to take taxes into account as well.

Do you have any relatives in the U.S. you can trust?

I don't know how Albino Dragon, the author, and whoever else was involved agreed to split the proceeds, but I imagine the party has already started :)

I like it, and I don't normally even like skull imagery!

This deck deserves to be made.  Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

The artwork almost looks like it could be 8 bit.  Perhaps he'd actually get more support if it followed that trend.

Both are gorgeous, but I choose Bohemia; it's innovative and colorful.

Another sample image for you guys to look at.  Personally I like the parchment background  (though I'd want the final version lighter), but the artist doesn't.  Is it really that bad?  If there's enough hatred I'll rethink it.

USPCC is urging me to shrink the design by 3% in order to avoid registration errors, though I worry that will make it even harder to read the indices when fanned.

(Oh, and picture the yellow areas in the border as slightly metallic gold.)

Johnny, you clearly have talent as an illustrator.  Your work here reminds me of the characters from Shrek.  My problem with your design is that the black cards are too dark, and the white cards lack color.  I can't stand the teal on the tuck box, and I just can't get terribly excited about the theme of the deck.  Just my opinions, take them for the $.02 that they're actually worth.  Keep working on your ideas, I think you have potential!

Version 2 with some color and shading.  Going to have to decide between parchment background/more muted colors versus white/more modern colors.  The artist really likes the banner, though I'm worried it might be too busy.  Your thoughts?

And this business of advancing in "rank" according to how many projects you vote on, and then having your vote count even more, is seriously unbalanced.

KS isn't available in his country.  And it's only Jump Start City's first day of operation; they might take some time to attract an audience.

Design & Development / Fulfillment services in the UK?
« on: May 31, 2013, 03:02:40 PM »
I hope my Lady Godiva project will be of interest to people in the UK as well as the U.S., but I know I'll need to keep international shipping charges down in order to attract pledges.  I'm looking into fulfillment services across the pond in hopes I can just ship over some bricks and have them sent by local mail.  Has anyone here tried this?  Did it save money on shipping?

Though motorcycles don't interest me personally, I have to give them points for originality.  And I can't remember the artist's name anymore, but there was someone who painted modern stuff in the ancient Japanese style (such as a cheeseburger next to a Japanese lantern)... the artwork reminds me very much of him.

It's my understanding that funding for such projects is usually a U-shaped curve; enthusiasm and novelty at the beginning, ennui around the middle, and then a final lift at the end when it starts coming up on the "ending soon" pages and the creator makes a final marketing push.  So it ain't over til it's over.
