Hi Guys, I'm new to this forum, I would like to share some reliable info that I got from the author that in the next 2 weeks, there will be a new cards "Bicycle Dreamcatcher" will be available for sale.
I saw the sample of this deck already, it look interesting, and I'm still trying to get some picture to be posted here.
Just wait for the pictures.
I heard that this deck only produced 1000 pcs, and will not be re-print.
I will post any updates on this deck when I have more info.
Thanks !
-
I guess we will see - but even limited run decks can look horrible. Pictures will be helpful.
Welcome to the forums!
-
i am looking forward to the deck.. btw where will it be sold ?
-
Welcome aboard! I'm sure you're going to love the Discourse!
That sounds interesting. I don't know what to expect, but I look forward to the pictures!! Thanks for the info :)
-
I haven't heard anything about this deck...
I'm eager to see some photos!
-
Deffinetly sounds interesting, lets hope some pictures come in soon
-
OHH. A rare deck. HAHA! - With a name of Dreamcatcher, it has a chance to go very far. hopefully the artist seizes the opportunity.

I agree! The theme suggests that it is something different than we have seen so far. Different can be either really good or really bad. I'm hoping for the best on this one. I guess we'll have to wait and see ::)

The concept is about culture around the world.
For the first edition, The Dreamcatcher takes American Indian Culture.
The Back design shows circles of dreamcatcher and indian's symbols.
The face uses bicycle original design, the black pips replaced by dark brown color, the court card shows Dark Brown ethnic atmosphere. The ace of spades shows a dreamcatcher.
Hopefully The Dreamcatcher deck can be release this month.
And hopefully you guys like the design.
Honest comment are very welcome.

Custom court cards? Custom AoS? And can we see pics?
-
OHHH, I like the theme already. Are you going to make a series to highlight different cultures as well, such as japan or chinese with caligraphy or maybe italy or something?
-
Here is the box picture I get this morning....more pictures ...will be uploaded soon.
-
*Colors may vary from the actual item - What colors do you plan on making it? By the looks of it now, i think the color will suffice. I have a feeling that the box looks like it should be made from cardboard. That could just be me.
-

Yess !!! talked to the author yesterday and next series will highlight different cultures, Africa or Asia will be his next project.
Latest news from the Author, for this 1st edition, only 500 decks will be available in the market.
-

The box will resemble the Light Brown Leather colors. ( I think a real leather box will be nicer but I don't think USPC can do this )
-
OHH - I can't wait - Kickstarter release or Individual?

500?! i hope you meant 5000...
-
The next design is in progress. They will highlight other culture around the world.
It will took more time, but real leather case for the deck will be made also depending on market respond.
-
Custom court cards? Custom AoS? And can we see pics?
Court cards not custom p[icture, just different color atmosphere.
Pisture will be uploaded ASAP.

The plan is the color as shown above, i state "Colors may vary from the actual item" is just in case there's a slight different from my design to the actual artwork.

unfortunately they confirmed only 500 decks will be sold by their own website, I guest the remaining 500 decks or less will be kept for gifts or special leather case limited edition.
The deck has been released from USPCC, but I don't have exact date when they going to release it to the market as well as the price.
I'll keep you all informed on any progress of this decks
-
I thought it was impossible to do a 1000 deck run.
-
While I am not 100% on this... I am sure if the money is right, you can have a 2 deck run. They might charge you $1,000 each, but I have a suspicion that USPCC will accommodate ANY request for a price.
-
Yeah, if the price is right, they'd be foolish not to. They're a business and money is money.
-
very nice deck hope to get a few of those :D
-
I thought it was impossible to do a 1000 deck run.
This deck has been ordered to USPCC since August, due to many changes on the process, the decks produced last month and delivered last week only.
I don't know if they have minimum qty for custom deck now, but according the Author, this 1000 pcs cost him quiet high...
-

You're right, they do any run you ask them to, it can just cost you a butt load of money.
5,000 is the minimum to get X price while being able to do any features you want on the cards themselves.
-
Im still a little iffy about if I would like this deck or not. The box looks pretty cool though! I am really interested in seeing the back design mostly
-
If it's only a 500- or 1000-deck print run, and they're as costly in those quantities as I'm hearing here, especially if it's a custom run, I'm inclined to think that if this deck sees the light of day, it would be prohibitively expensive, at least for me...
-
Bicycle Dreamcatcher deck are now Available.
-
They look awesome!! A nice back, that's for sure!
Where can you get these?
-
Wow, the back looks really nice and clean, let's just hope they won't be too expensive as mentioned above...
-
You can try contacting Wiepie for the decks.
-
Hi Guys,
The deck has just arrive this afternoon, finished unpacking, QC for each deck and doing some cost calculation.
I hope by tomorrow we will announce the Selling price both for the Deck and Signed Uncut Sheet.
We will do our best to give you guys best price for the deck, but it not going to be cheap as it only very limited production, after deducting the Pre-orders we have only left less than 300 decks ( which 50 of them will be numbered and signed by the Author ) and about 10 uncut sheet.
I will upload more picture for the uncut sheet and detail of the cards soon.
-
Due to the very limited quantity, I will prioritize you guys to get this deck, we have not sell it any where else....
-
how were the pre-orders made? was it only open exclusively to friends and family of the designer?
-
Wiepie,
I sent you a private message.

Looks like they've already put one up on Ebay...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bicycle-Dreamcatcher-Playing-Cards-/180781256879?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a176710af
-
But I'm sure wiepie won't charge that high. But then again who knows, there isn't much stocks.
-
Really $50 per deck? And they were just released?
Who made this deck? Maybe we can get it cheaper from the maker
-
$50 a pack, and from a seller in Indonesia. No offense to Indonesians, but I get wary of overseas Ebay dealers in general. In the "wild West" days of old Ebay there wasn't much by way of legal recourse if you got ripped off from overseas. I barely trust a UK sale. That's just me.
I think I'll pass on this, gang.
-
@Good@Sabacc, isn't that a reseller? I thought he mentioned that the actual seller might have them for cheaper. If you're right though, I'll also pass. 50 slaps a deck is a big hit to my wallet
-
I learn that there's much "powerful" playing card collector from the south east nowadays.
Mostly Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore.
I confirmed that this deck is meant to be a collectible item.
"The Bicycle Dreamcatcher" is the first edition of many "The Legacy Series" to come from the designer.
And he release to the market only 500 decks total and won't be reprint as this 1st edition.
If there's stock left from the 500 decks they will be release with his website on January 2012.
If they sold out before the web site is publish then the website will only shown Dreamcatcher deck as his portfolio.
-
The marketing on this deck is really confusing. Let me get this straight....This deck is comemmorating Native American heritage....designed and sold by someone in Asia? The 1st person to sell these on ebay lives in Indonesia and he may or may not have the cards. (I'm guessing he does or will have the cards because all anyone would have to do is file a complaint with buyer protection and get their money back!)

I think comemmorating native american doesn't have to be an american. well then again this is not this forum is all about. Maybe the seller is moving faster then us here. Or maybe the designer is an Indonesian who love and respect many world culture.

Another pic... sorry it's blurry

Oh, bloody hell - it's a Merz67! He may not have designed it, but the marketing and the design are straight out of his playbook. Slap a deck together, call it "rare" and see who takes the bait. I'll grant it has a unique back, but those card faces are bog-standard with clip art!
NO, THANK YOU. I PASS, IN SPADES. Got much better things to do with fifty bucks, and I don't care if there's only ten of this deck out there. It's not worth it.
-
I agree with Good@Sabacc. The front does look like the "Trace" decks. Simple question for anybody who seems to be "in the know" about these decks. Who is producing these?
-
i was looking very forward to getting the deck .. but $50 T.T
-
I'm pretty sure that the price won't be that high.
-
Another Pictures :
-
Pre-order start on Monday, 26th December 2012.
PM me if any of you guys seriously interested to get this deck.
If won't be very cheap as only 500 decks available !
50 Signed and numbered decks and 25 uncut sheet will be only available during the pre-order !!
Merry Christmas !!
-
What does not very cheap mean? Seriously, just tell us the price already!
-
I'll let it be only in my dream. Hahaha.
The box is nice, but the rest is normal for me.
-
Seriously - an original back, and a couple of gaff cards, but the Ace of Spades is kind of dull, as are the Jokers, and the faces are 100% ORDINARY, like ANY OTHER pack of Bikes from the corner drugstore! Toss in an insanely high price due to rarity, and forget it.
I said this before: rarity doesn't make something good, or valuable, automatically. I create extraordinarily rare one-of-a-kind objects every day when I visit my bathroom, but I don't exactly see people banging down my door to have them. I'd sooner have off-the-rack Rider Backs...

The court cards are actually recolored. The black ink was replaced with a dark brown. They said they were going to make it a darker red, but that looks to be the same.

So it's a baby step above Merz67 and a big step below T11. Still isn't tickling my fancy. If you like it, by all means, pick some up for yourself. If this was a deck selling for under $10 bucks, I'd consider it because I actually like the gaff cards, but for $50, ain't no way in hell. I would rather spend the money on two or three bricks of Bike Riders. (OK, more like a couple of bricks of Tallys, but you get the idea!)
Do you guys remember Crimson Gate? This deck is about as original as that, and that deck was practically reviled, it was thought of so poorly. But Crimson Gate didn't cost fifty bones!
-
i agree with sabacc $50 and the card is all the same expect the court card and nothing else the ace of spades and gaff card is nothing much
-
i agree with sabacc $50 and the card is all the same expect the court card and nothing else the ace of spades and gaff card is nothing much
Yeah $50 bucks is asking a lot for most decks!! There are many "rare" decks that you can find cheaper. Hell, I'd sell my gold monarchs for less than that haha
-

I would get a LTD deck for 50 bucks
-
I like the boxes and the backs, but the rest turns me away.
-
For $50 you can buy decks that aren't limited for the sake of being limited. the price point is ridiculous. maybe 10 bucks for a limited deck with barely any work put into it, but $50? why not get something that already has proven its value, like three or four virginia slims decks or an iaocp deck.
-
I found a sale for these on eBay.. 50$ with 10$ shipping. The seller has a picture on eBay showing the back design and It looks pretty cool!
-
haha $50, for that i would go to any card site and buy more decks and after shipping still cost less, i will say i like the gaffs
-

And I *might* buy those Monarchs for that price! (just kidding - I would trade for it, but not pay cash up front)

That would have to be the "auction" quoted earlier, since it's the only one on eBay with Dreamcatchers. The part I like the MOST is that there are no returns or exchanges, though it is covered by Buyer Protection.
-
$50? For a new released deck?
This is getting more and more ridiculous.
-

Like I said earlier - this is straight out of the "Merz67 Rulebook for Making Money Off of Fools Who Collect Cards and Drool Over the Word 'Rare'"...
-
Just got word there's an article on 52cartes about this deck - the print run's nearly a thousand but only 500 are being released for sale. If I'm reading the pidgin English of Google Translate correctly, I think he (she?) is offering the deck for sale. But the translation could be off, as can my interpretation of it.
I still think this entire deck smells like Merz67. Perhaps it's only the knockoff fragrance and not the real "parfum de merde", but it smells like Merz nonetheless.
-
Give me a link and I can tell you what the article actually says... ::)
Though either way, I'm not buying. Maybe I would if it was cheap... Which it is the opposite of.
-
Yeah I would never buy this deck.
@Mooon the website is 52cartes.wordpress.com (http://52cartes.wordpress.com/)

force them the 3 of clubs, then pluck out the middle piece.
-
924 decks(What a random number...) printed, 500 for sale.
According to 52, it isn't available for sale yet, but we all saw the auction... (And the article doesn't mention anything about where to get it; It's pretty much just pictures really.)
So much hype for a deck that doesn't deserve it. :-\
-
Oh I didn't know he had a facebook page now! Thanks for the link CBJ. I know that I use 52cartes a lot for information along with the discourse.
-
with the backlog of deck runs @ USPC I think alot of these newer decks have their origin 6 or more months ago....when you could still sell out a new release in 36 hours. When all of these new decks hit the market recently and couldn't make that "quick buck" (with the exception of the black crowns) I think producers are having to resort to new tactics to market their decks. Get ready your gonna see a lot more of these "limited releases" and other shady marketing tactics before the playing card market self-adjusts. I'm thinking by christmas next year you might see 1 or 2 new releases a month not the deluge of decks like this year. When the almighty Buck twins can't sell out a new release in a month....be prepared!
-
I can easily picture such a scenario.
Some guys think, hey, there's a lot of action in this "rare" cards market. Lemme slap together some craptacular deck, call it rare 'cause I don't make an infinite amount of them and rake in the bucks.
Midway through the process, the market begins to wise up. Craptacular decks suddenly lose popularity. Even decent ones aren't selling out as fast as they once might have, decks from major sellers like Dan and Dave. They see that their craptacular deck is about to tank, big-time, and take their cash with it.
They think, hey, we gotta come up with a PLAN. What if we do this - we go ahead with our minimum-required print run of five thousand craptacular decks...we hold back some of them - we play with them, destroy them, use them as landfill, or just plain lie about how many decks were made in the first place and drop most of them in a hidey-hole somewhere. We take a fraction of the original print run, sell them as SUPER RARE, ULTRA RARE, (some other superlative) RARE on eBay with a super-jacked up price, maybe even shill-bid the first one or two to ridiculous heights in order to chum the waters for the hungry card collectors...
This is an artificial shortage, no matter how you look at it. USPC said runs shorter than 5K are the EXCEPTION, not the rule. They do such things for solid, regular, big-time customers. We're looking at a deck that's a complete unknown, but claims to have been printed in a run of under a thousand? And only five hundred will see the market? Why - is there some famous Native American magician using the rest in his lounge act at the casino on his native lands? In INDONESIA?
I don't even know why I'm wasting time even thinking about this deck, since I have no plans to buy it. Caveat emptor, folks.
-
I don't find the design of the deck appealing. The price or rarity is irrelevant if the product looks fugly.
-
Well I got one of these on Ebay and apparently it has shipped.
