Since these were designed for USPCC, does this mean they will be available in major retailers?

I'm very excited as well. Also I will be producing a small run of 1500 Limited Edition Decks that will not be available through USPC's distribution channels and sold exclusively on my website. It has been an incredible experience working with the corporate team at USPCC. I'm also excited to say that this deck has turned out awesome, and you guys will NOT be disappointed with it.

That is INCREDIBLY good news!

Do you have any idea how many decks you're going to make for the series, or will that be decided later?

I agree. It's just a guess but I would be willing to bet the courts have a Civil War paper money look to them.

everytime I see this deck I start singing....

I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war

However... I DO need these cards!  :D

Having just received the Independence decks, I find myself eager for yet another war!  (card style of course)

It would be awesome if Jackson kept going through the eras -- WWI, WWII. Or, maybe something could be done with presidents?

I love the sketched look (I'm sorry I don't know the real name of it) of the Civil War and Independence decks, but I'm not sure how well that would transfer to later eras. Hmm...

Title: Re: Bicycle "The Civil War Deck" - Jackson Robinson/KingsWild
Post by: ecNate on July 29, 2014, 02:50:35 PM
As was pointed out to me earlier, you'll note this in the uncut description -  "Check back soon for sheets autographed by the artist.",  Hopefully that will be around the same time as the LE decks.

I already jumped on an uncut, but may consider getting signed as well if the price premium isn't silly.

So very excited to get these in hand.  As a single deck collector this is the most decks I've every bought (8 + uncut), in addition to collection mostly to play with and give away.  The super reasonable price made it a no brainer.

My Limited Edition Civil War Decks are being finished this week and will most likely ship next week. I then will have to hand apply all of the numbered seals like on the HIVE decks. If all goes as planned they will available exclusively on my website for immediate delivery on either Aug 9th or 13th. Bicycle and I wanted coordinate our releases around the same time.

FYI: They will not be $3.99 per deck though DANG! thats a good price I already picked up some off the site. :)

Thank you, I can't wait!

As far as premium playing cards go, $3.99 for JR cards is like finding a Picasso for $50 at a flea market...a fantastic deal! No one can complain about picking up your art for that price! :-)

I'd say more than that.  I'm assuming that they were made in bulk, which means they'd use the web press.  The web press takes rolls of paper that can print about 11,000 decks (now you know where the 10% overages can come from in a larger deck order).  Instead of making 15,000, they'd make a multiple of 10,000.  10,000; 20,000; 30,000 - unless, of course, they used the sheet-fed press.  But I just have a feeling they didn't use the sheet-fed press, not for an order of this size.

Just because a deck is run in large numbers doesn't mean the web press is best suited for the job. As for the Civil War deck and my other decks the sheet fed press is mandatory as the webpress does not have as fine registration as the sheet fed press. The Web press is best for simple designs with 2-3 spot colors not 4color CMYK jobs, with very fine line work.

This was a huge run of decks as it will be going out to retail outlets shortly.

What a different volume and a standard tuck make. I ended-up paying $3.15 a deck (including shipping) by buying 6 half-bricks with my 808 renewal discount. These are now my goto cards for taking to a bar or going camping. They are so inexpensive I'm almost going to feel guilty giving them out as gifts.

Jackson, is there a follow-up USPCC deck planned? I gotta believe that they are pleased, and that your Tally-Ho deck is giving them ideas. It would be fantastic if you could refresh one of their standard decks.

On Tuesday the Limited Edition Civil War decks will be delivered. If all goes well with our quality control check I will be releasing 300 - 2 Deck sets this Saturday August 16th at 12 pm Central time. I will have a solid confirmation most likely by Wednesday.

The two deck sets will be $30 and you will receive both a LTD North Deck, sealed and numbered and a LTD South Deck, sealed and numbered. There are a total of 1500 sets produced however only around 900 will be sold on my website to the playing card community the rest I will be saving for my followers that are Coin and Currency collectors. Those decks will be available at the coin and paper money shows that I attend, like the one I am at now in Chicago.

Yes the tuck case will be made with normal Kings Wild premium matte card stock with embossing and foiling. It will also have the original custom metallic foil seal I designed for the deck but that USPCC omitted in with the standard versions. It will also have a metallic foil circular seal that will be numbered.

Basically the LtD versions are how I originally designed them before we had to make budget cuts to keep the price down for USPCC

Not that this is a confirmation or a denial of anything, but speculating with only relations to conflicts seems a bit limiting to me. I'd honestly love to see more series based on classic novel series like Sherlock.

Doing war-based designs can be interesting because you have a built-in excuse for making two decks!

Why don't we get into semi-fictional wars too. Jackson, do a series on Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Boom, you just delivered a product that >1 billion people would snap up and cornered the entire asian market at the same time. Just send me a brick or two when you're swimming in cash from this idea.

For those that don't know what the Three Kingdoms are or don't understand the significance of it:

I will for sure be doing a Texas Independence deck in the future. I myself being a "Born in Texas, Die in Texas" guy it has a very dear place in my heart. William Barrett Travis is my middle name, name sake. Jackson Barrett Robinson.

I think the best way to look at it is the limited edition of the decks is what the deck would have been if it just a pure Kings Wild deck. It makes a lot of sense for USPCC not to do embossing, foiling and special stock for their mass produce tucks or else they'd have to charge more like the Silver Steampunks or the Archangels deck. There's a mass produce version for everyone and a more special version for collectors or people looking for the Kings Wild standard of the deck.

Nope another hour noon central time

Here's a link to an online clock for central time: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/usa/memphis . I've gotten a few international customer ask so I've always got that link on hand.

Ergh, 2am my time! Too late for me, I think... Will have to try my luck when I wake up and hope they're not all gone!

Thanks guys for the info/correction!

Surely you could've waited 15 more minutes :)

Live by the way, went live a few minutes early

Damn, I screwed up the timing! My original guess was correct! Now I missed it even though I woke up... Gah, hate timezones! =P

Looks like Shopify just crashed for everybody including me.

All of these sites who use shopify are down:
Encarded
Uusi
Whispering Imps
Art of Play
David Blaine

Yeap, happened to me too! I managed to submit credit card info for 2 decks, then the site crashed... By the time it came back up, they were sold out!

That honestly sucked a lot. It was an unexpected thing as Shopify is a really great system though I have to say that the company took ownership of their own problem and fixed it all within an hour or less.

I know Jackson will be releasing another batch in the near future. Stay tune and you'll be able to grab the Civil War LE decks again. Sorry that you missed out.

I love the calendar app on my iPhone! It went off on Saturday, I pulled off of the interstate, made my purchase seconds after 12, and happily went along my way. My wife wasn't terribly pleased that I was pulling over to buy MORE cards, but oh well! ;-)

Today I received my limited edition Civil War decks and they are phenomenal. They fit perfectly with the independence series decks that arrived last week. I was a fan of the Kings Wild products when I first laid eyes on the federal 52 series, but these recent decks really appeal to me. The war themes add extra depth to an already superior product while the foil and embossing elements compliment the tuck box art style perfectly. Really great job!
