Title: How many projects do you back on KS at one time?
Post by: Rob Wright on June 05, 2014, 10:12:29 PM
As of yesterday morning. I was not backing any projects on KS. That is the first time since I started on KS.

..................................37 hours later....................I've got 4 up now   :D

I'll go broke yet. You can't stop me  :bosswalk:

I'm currently pledged on 12 active Kickstarter projects, and waiting for 37 more Kickstarter projects that I have paid for that have not been fulfilled!

Thanks for reminding me just how deep I am into this crazy hobby!

Please don't tell my wife...

I have three, plus or minus, old projects that I hardly expect to deliver at this point.

I have two newer projects awaiting fulfillment and one that's still active.

I don't back on KS as much as I used to because I'm saving money for a car and while many projects get fulfilled without a hitch, those that don't really piss me off - and it doubly pisses me off that KS does jack squat about them.  I view Kickstarter as more like eBay was in the early days, when a lot of people were getting ripped off.  The minute they create some sort of backer protection program, that's when they'll really take off and be a household name and that's when I'd put more money in their hands.  Until then, only the "cutting edge" types are likely to know about it without being told by someone else and likely to take the risk.

OMG. You made me go and count......

Six active, 24 to be delivered.  I'm only posting this because Will & James fessed up to more.

And even worse I've just bought my first expensive (to me) deck on ebay, one that I just had to have.

I have none currently but 4 of them ended recently. I actually over-backed a project and sadly I had to cancel my pledge. Hopefully I can get that deck in second hand market.

Point is, keep tabs on when campaigns end so you don't end up like me.

I have 5 active...and the problem now is i do not know how many i have that is not fulfilled.

I have so many decks coming in that some i do not remember if i received yet. I really need to get myself organized but i have been so busy with my wedding reception and stuff.

I also realised the amount i pledge is huge...I need to start cutting down on expenses..

We should also stop such topics. *Living in denial*  :P

Anyone willing to fess up a total $ amount?
I'm a little over 2........maybe close to 3 for KS deck projects.

Does anyone have a set monthly budget for card collecting? Max per project?

Got an extra job to buy cards?

My highest single deck so far was a little over $200= was not on KS.

The most I ever spent on any deck so far is $80 - it was a gaffed deck from Card Shark, "Get Sharkey".  The trick is awesome, really knocks it out of the park.

For a non-magic deck, I paid $50 for a deck of Moth/Myth in the original black.  Actually, that's $50 EACH, since I bought two.

No, they were not KS projects!

Most I spent on a KS project...  I went partners with someone to resell the Bicycle Americana deck, pledged for an entire gross.  I still have some left, but I've given up trying to sell them.  Too much hassle, and I paid off my partner for what was left.

Care to share what that deck was?

I can't really remember what my most expensive single deck was, but if i did not remember wrongly, i once spend $100+ on something from E for a free 1st Ed black ghost as a promo. I guess it wasn't really spent on a single deck, but my reason to spend that amount was to get the Black Ghost anyway.

I'm easily at $5-6 or even more for KS projects. Usually because a part of it goes to int shipping, and another part of it is i always buy minimum 2 decks each, one to open and one to keep. But i really think Int shipping is a killer though, i predict every $10 that i spend, about $3 goes to shipping.

But you see, that deck you got wouldn't count - you may have spent the money, but the money wasn't actually paying for the deck; it paid for lots of ancillary stuff, stuff you could use, sell, trade, whatever.

As far as that price, a vintage deck in high-grade condition can go for that or more.  Few modern decks sell that high, but something like the White Centurions from Theory11, when you can find them, do tend to trade that high - and once, much higher.  It was an 1,100-deck print run.  In fact, here's one selling for C$300 on eBay right now (http://www.ebay.com/itm/White-Centurions-Centurion-Playing-Cards-Theory11-Rare-New-Sealed-/400673732118?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item5d4a03f616), though the seller is also considering "best offers".

I remember that deck when you first displayed it.  Gorgeous deck!  But would vintage count for this?  Vintage decks can get royally expensive, especially if they're in great condition.

8 pledged, still running

23 paid for, waiting for delivery,

1/23 probably won't ever be delivered

I added up how much I've spent in the last year.  Yikes!!!  I need to cut back.

I actually just cancelled out of 2, and reduced 2 more.

Anything from 0 to probably half a dozen, depending on how many catch my fancy?

I don't have a budget or a cap (though I really should - this hobby is going to bankrupt me!)
