From the Kickstarter update:

So onward into April, "Pagan" and very soon...the next Uusi deck, "Hotcakes". "Hotcakes"will be the fifth deck in our six deck series and will make its debut on Kickstarter this April. Should you want to take a sneak peak at it you can visit the awesome cardistry forum that is United Cardist, on Thursday of this coming week, March 20th, (which also happens to be the first day of spring), and click on this link http://unitedcardists.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4482   for a first look.

Looks like the preview will be up on UC. Is anyone else as hyped as I am?

Hotcakes? Trying to imply they will be selling like hotcakes?

I'm hungry already...  :karrit:

A sneak peak that was released on UC.

"The look is a mix of 17th century full figure courts meets Emilio Pucci-like patterns, Andy Warhol's Pop Art, neon colors and Charles Pry's one off art decks."

With any designer, I love when they are able to go in a completely different direction than their previous project, Kudos!

Let's all be immature now and get it over with. Boobies. There, now we can talk art. :D

Great style as always from Uusi, they certainly know how to find amazing themes and run with it. One way courts works well and shows a little bit of adventurousness there. Hopefully USPCC doesn't get their panties in a twist over the content. From what I recall it's always a little bit of an unknown when bringing anything risqué their way.

USPC has covered artistic decks with tastefully-presented nudity before - there's no reason why they'd object.  (And if they do, there's always EPCC!)

This deck will be on Kickstarter next month!

EDIT: Tony, I took the liberty of exchanging your image for a higher-resolution version I received, courtesy of Linnea at Uusi!  Click on it, it's BIG.  Click again, it's HUGE!!

The message that was posted to UC from Linnea:

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to give you a sneak "peep" at Hotcakes!  And by the thread here it looks like you guys already sniffed out the theme, which is basically a send-up on a "nudie" deck.   Aside from the obvious "inspiration" and without giving too much away this early, we can tell you the medium this time around was pen, ink and markers as we wanted the artwork to be loose & playful.  The look is a mix of 17th-century full-figure courts with Emilio Pucci-like patterns, Andy Warhol's Pop Art, neon colors and Charles Pry's "one-off" art decks.  As always, we kept as many of the playable aspects in the design, though this one is the most art-oriented deck of the series so far.  We just wanted to have a little fun and whimsy this time around and hope you do, too!  Look for the next Hotcakes reveal on our Facebook page in the weeks ahead :)

Thanks for posting this Sparkz! But you got the name of the deck wrong, it's "Hotcakes" not Cupcakes... :)

Looks awfully good to me, frankly.  I was aware of what was coming but sworn to secrecy, so I just let everybody keep guessing.  We had one come awfully close yesterday: Lorenzo Gaggiotti of "Requiem" fame who's working on his "Heretic" deck that I will be helping with around the first of May.  Unlike many KS projects, he won't even think about opening another campaign unless he has the first one fulfilled to all of his backers, first.  Uusi has a habit of being early (good Lord!) with their delivery estimates, which these days is quite refreshing!

HAHAHAHA! Oh, jeez.

I love how you guys are covering such a huge range of styles! It's awesome to see a deck designer than can completely switch tracks from one deck to the next.

The back design's going to be interesting  ;D

Yeah,  since they're doing a six deck series and each usually has two variations,  I'll end up with a brick by the end,  and I love how I or anyone else can look at the decks and it'll seem like they've come from various artists but are actually just from one artist team.  It'll showcase how good they are of executing really wonderful artwork over a range of different styles and medium. :)

Personally, I'm going to have to pass on this one. Just doesn't strike me as appealing at all. Too cartoonish for my tastes.

I'm sure that there will be thousands of other buyers to take my place though! :-)

I'm betting that they raise more money that any of the previous projects -- by a lot.
They have a loyal contingent of backers.
The artwork is beautiful.
This looks like an outstanding deck to show off your cardistry.
And its risqué.
I'm betting it raises over $100K.

If it was branded "Bicycle" it would raise a lot more -- but I'm not suggesting that they do it!

Um, that doesn't lead to a Discourse topic...

...but there is already a topic for this deck and I'm merging them now!

EDIT: actually, this WAS the THIRD topic on the same deck!  They're all merged here.

I agree on all points but the last one.  Among the collector community, I think we're finally starting to see some backlash building, the result of USPC allowing almost any deck, from fine art by a true artiste to broken Crayolas on construction paper, to have the Bicycle brand on it.  Even Bicycle-only collectors are getting fed up, not to mention overwhelmed with the sheer output.  I'd bet that USPC would make a Bicycle-branded performance art deck, if they could only figure out how to capture performance art on pasteboard...

For me it was going to be really tough to follow up Pagen, as Pagen was awesome and really captivated me. Pagen has been my favorite of Uusi's decks. This deck will be very popular and I think it hits it's mark perfectly, unfortunately this is one least favorites Uusi has come out with.

What makes you say that?  To me, this is their most playful and entertaining design to date!

For me - I will certainly buy and enjoy.

But I'm with Jackson....I like serious better.  Pagan was really serious and evocative. This is kind of silly - in a good way, and silly is good sometimes, it's just not my favorite thing. (Except for British silliness.)

@Jackson - Thanks for the compliment on "Pagan!"  Our series is all about exploring different themes, looks and mediums for the artwork in our decks, so for sure everyone will have their favorite – mine is "Bohemia!" But I have to say "Hotcakes" is a close second for me.  It was definitely time to let our hair down and just have fun.  Not that I didn't enjoy creating the artwork for "Pagan", it was just a totally different kind of process that was insanely demanding.

@CordedTires - we are HUGE Monty Python fans and this deck is soooooo that kind of humor.  Risqué, playful humor that walks the artistic line between high and low.  Glad to hear you will be picking one of our "Hotcakes" decks up!

Linnea,

Speaking of Pagan, when do you think the framed uncut sheet will get shipped?  :o
Not that I'm impatient!

I'm probably in the minority, but I miss the fishnets. Now I'm reminded of lava lamps, disco and Austin Powers, not lingerie.

The studio pieces like the framed uncut and the boxes take a little longer to ship out, but Pete has been working hard in the shop to complete all the handwork items that were backed.  Pagan is going to look awesome in that redwood frame!

LOL on the fishnets! I miss them too, but it was getting a bit further from the look of the deck when they were in there.  If it helps any, I think the Hotcakes court would have all the items you listed in their chambers  :t11:

It is, but Chicago isn't.  Philly is in the Eastern TZ, Chicago in the Central TZ.
