Hi,
I am thinking about designing a new custom playing card deck (52 playing cards and 2 jokers).
I have narrowed it down to 3 ideas:
a) Fantasy Zombies
b) Medieval Zombies
c) Demons
I have an example of one illustration I might use for Demons.. Let me know what you guys think.

Welcome to the site Illuminati, when you get time I would venture over to the Introduction forum and give a little paragraph on who you are ;)
As for your deck, I would start by going over to Kickstarter and doing a search for "Zombies" "Demons" and "Fantasy", maybe you already have, but your taking on a genre that has just been beaten to death. Some good, a lot not so good. Now you may have the "one" that just kills everyone that came before you, but if you haven't done the research, I would start doing so.
Your image is pretty cool, very reminiscent of a recent deck, I wish you luck, lets see some more of what your planning, and please take criticism in a constructive manner...it's gonna be hard, like I said, this is an overdone genre at the moment.

Yeah, I have done a little bit of research. This is why I made a post in here to get more feedback on my designs and ideas.
This is one of the zombie ones I am thinking about right now.
Also, is it a bad idea to get these cards printed from a Chinese manufacturer?

People that collect playing cards tend to be quite picky about the quality of their cards. Some collectors will only buy decks from USPC and some go even further by only purchasing Bicycle branded decks. With USPC you know and everyone who collects playing card know that the quality will be there, as compared to a manufacturer that they may have never heard of.

You can't swing a dead cat at Kickstarter without hitting another zombie deck. The idea can be popular, but it's past its peak, I think.
Demons have been done occasionally, but certainly not to death. Not a bad idea to try. All depends on what you plan to do and how well you execute it.
As far as using a manufacturer other than USPC - it's been done, but it really has to be top-notch quality, something that a lot of USPC's competitors simply can't or won't deliver. I'd look into European manufacturers first - Chinese makers have a bad reputation in the US, not entirely undeserved, and you'd have to do a lot of scouring to find the good ones. I've been told by someone who knows what he's talking about that some Chinese companies can make excellent decks, but they tend to save them for domestic sale, importing the inferior quality decks. A few of the better European companies would be Piatnik, Offason and Fournier.

I have actually thought about going with USPC because I want the best quality.
I know there has been a few decks done on zombies but from the ones I have seen they have been comic like or very basic. I want to do a very detailed deck and each card be unique in its own way.

You would really have to make something that was head and shoulders above anything that came before if you wanted to generate real interest. It would be the difference between a failure, a barely-made-it success, and something that blows people out of the water and rakes in a lot of investment.

I would vote for a Demons Deck, just because zombies have been done a lot.
