Ok, i was reading through the "best card boxes" thread and again it hit me that tuck boxes have yet to change. Why? I understand that they are cheap and effective, but just think about getting your vortex deck in a all new sweet card box.
Soooooo lets brain storm!!!
I personally think it would be awesome to have a card box resemble a cigarette box. (again im not saying i condone smoking.)
-
Again, because the top of the box would need more glue, and they would need completely different machines to make production efficicent.
-
yes, yes, but were just brain storming for fun here :) i mean think about that box with the vortex art on it and the cards inside!!! oooooo sooooo coooool
-
I like this idea! It would be pretty cool!
-
I've designed my own concept for a tuck box a few months ago. It works pretty well, but is more expensive to produce, and of course you have to go outside of the USPCC for any custom tuck-work.

do you mind sharing the idea? or is it still in the realm of possibility of happening?

Is it the one that has the vortex deck on it? Cuz I think I saw that pic
-
I can't share ideas because unfortunately there are a lot of people scouting out looking for them. If my wallet is ever large enough to take on the task of a custom tuck-box, you better believe I'll follow through.
@Ez: Nope, I've never shared the concept pictures for the tuck box with anyone.

You should share it with me, because well im awesome. :)

Does any company do custom cards and custom tuck boxes or do you need to get them both done seperately O.o
-
I do like the idea of the pictured box as a tuck box. I don't see how it would require more glue..you could still use a seal. Just make the seal part of the art...just an idea?
-
with the pictured box you could even put the seal on the side of the box. or have there be some kind of internal tear seal or something.
-
absolutely, or maybe even a simple perforation? No glue, no seal...just a "tear here" type of deal?
-
I like this kind of box

Those boxes are amazing for collectors, but a huge problem for people that use their cards extensively. They don't lend themselves to use very well and require two hands to open.

and I would imagine way more to produce.
I don't have a set of these, but they're on my list.
LOL

They do add added protection. The prestige deck came in a box like that one...I like the box but it is a bit inconvenient. 8)
-
Very great idea about a new box.
Please do it for this vortex of the next deck.

I was talking about on the side of the box at the top. I think that flaP would need mor glue to hola the sides of the flap together.
Also look at this deck. It's expensive but look at the box:

I think that's a cigarette box.

That deck looks cool but the price isn't cool..

And I think I heard it's most likely a plastic deck, which also stinks.

Sad story... LOL

But then again, it was made as an "art" deck, and by the look of the price point, it doesn't look like it was meant to be used.

The Black Rock Collective decks are awesome!! They aren't plastic, they are a hard paper. Nothing meant for magic since they handle horribly. Basically it's a collective of artists that came together and they each drew a few cards for the deck. I'm sure that why the price is high, since it's not one person trying to make a profit. The cards are very sturdy and good quality for an art deck and the box is awesome.
One of the coolest boxes though has to be the box from the analog deck by Ruth Kedar

These boxes were custom designed with a locking type mechanism on the front. It's definitely a very cool design, unlike anything I've seen before.
here the website if you want to check the box/deck out http://www.kedardesigns.com/WS_Cards.html (http://www.kedardesigns.com/WS_Cards.html)

Hey Baggs, do you own any of the Black Rock Decks, and if you do are they worth the price?
Secondly the Analog deck box looks SICK! They probably cost a fortune to make though.
-
that looks like a pain to get open, but is still very cool.
i was sitting in class (bored out of my mind) today and thought of this idea. a tuck box that incorporates a cheap plastic card clip inside of it. so think of a plastic card clip surrounded by tuck box paper, but the box opens on the long edge. or have just the plastic card clip with the deck art and name printed on the clip and all of it wrapped in cellophane.

Yeah I actually own both of those decks. It depends on why you are getting the deck. I only got the deck for the art, and I'm really happy I picked them up. They have a nice sturdy feel (they aren't flimsy and cheap feeling at all), and the box is awesome. If you're not getting them for the art I probably wouldn't drop 20 plus shipping on them, especially with all the new decks coming out.
The BRC decks though are definitely way awesome overall. If you have any others questions just let me know, I'm glad to help.
The Analog boxes are way cool, but the only downside is they aren't super sturdy...
They aren't super hard to open, but you do need to take your time and care with it since it is a little fragile. It is still an awesome box and the deck is amazing looking as well

If I have money after this year to still buy a deck, I definitely will.

I just think it would look nice on display, an the cards look cool.
-
i say we make one with a velcro top and pop it off when we need to use. thats cheap right?

Why do we even need a box? Alex should just pop all the cards into Ziploc baggies and ship them off.
-
The Analog deck looks sick as hell. I would definitely buy one of those. But the one below it, Dualog, looks ridiculous. 8)

And for only $200 you could be the proud owner of one.
-
Yeah no kidding. It is signed and numbered....Lance is hand numbering his decks as well, he will also sign them if you ask nicely lol. The best part of it all is that his decks look amazing and are $10...this deck looks bananas and is $200....stopppppppppp lol. 8)

Although I do REALLY like the court cards. They remind me of my favorite artist, Pablo Picasso.

Wow that deck is sick..
