Just came across this deck on Kickstarter, it's pretty interesting looking. Should be noted that it is not USPC and is bridge sized and may not appeal to everyone.

I don't think truer words have ever been said...  What the hell are those face cards supposed to be?

The "art" of playing cards?  Art?  ART?  Where?

I have to admit, he's definitely confident - his project is already revealing his plans for his NEXT deck and he hasn't even finished getting this one made!

BTW: when did Kickstarter go global?  This project is in pounds sterling!

Damn. If only these were poker sized and USPCC. I really like the design of these!

Why bridge...Do bridge players collect like poker deck collectors? I have never heard that.

Not really.  There are collectors, but they specialize in the custom backs more than the fronts, like the artwork you see on the backs of bridge sets.

Bridge cards are popular for play in parts of Asia, China in particular, according to Lee Asher - smaller bodies, smaller hands.  Most of the world reserves them only for games requiring a lot of cards in a hand or (in casinos and professional gaming rooms) for Texas Hold 'Em poker (easier to conceal your hand when peeking).

This is just a great example of someone with more enthusiasm than practical design.

Don, don't be so hard on it. I think the art is something subjective, isn't it? ;)

I like the design, although bridge size is not my favorite... Prices (pledge tiers, I mean) are fair although I don't understand why the shipping quote is not different within Europe. Card fans outside USA always suffer the big discrimination on shipping quotes from USA projects and now... it is the same (unless living in UK).

Personally, I like much more the future design than this one...

I just figured out the court cards - they depict the pip in 2 halves, 1 half in each direction, kind of interesting.

Yes, art is highly subjective.  This deck, to me, is not artistic, not beautiful.  That is the opinion of one man - me.  Others are welcome to think whatever they wish.

I thought so, too, at first.  I think the aces conform to that, but not the courts, especially since the courts are all different from each other.  The only way that works is if there are multiple different suit designs as well.

It finally dawned on me that these cards remind me of the ESP flash cards on Ghostbusters hahahahaha. I sort of like the design in a weird abstract sense but they appear to tribal and I hate the 4 corners design.

I actually like the design of these. If they were standard size I'd definitely pick some up. As it is, I might still get some since they seem to be pretty cheap compared to some other decks

personally I am not a fan of the art work. A+ for creativity but its not for me.
