Title: New KS Deck - Animal Rival
Post by: Don Boyer on September 15, 2012, 04:07:23 AM
I'm kind of surprised that no one's written anything about this deck yet.  It's Kickstarter project is active now and it needs funds like I need air.

What are your thoughts on the deck?  There's a link at the NDR for it.

Hey Guys and Gals
I know we have been flooded with new decks on Kickstarter recently
But here is another that I think has a pretty nice design.

The back is unfortunately a one way back, however I have asked the creator to join our community so hopefully we can change his mind on that.

With our help and backing it would be nice to see this deck succeed

Hello!  I am responsible for this deck  :)

Thank you so much, Don, for bringing it up, and Utterfool for getting me over here to introduce myself.  If you don't mind, I have a question I'd like to ask, first...

What do you think about these pips?

Hearts with flames, nice.
Spades with swords - better, since that's what the spade suit used to be.
Diamonds with light flares, OK, I can dig it.
But those clubs - they look like Audrey II's conjoined triplets!  It needs work, in my opinion.

Question: do you have a design that at least 90% finished for this deck?  If not, there's an awesome chance you'll have to push back your deadline on getting the decks to your backers.

The idea with the diamond is that it is an actual diamond.  shiny...  ;D
The clubs are mouths.  nom nom nom?  Dragons?  Teeth?  No?

I had no idea that the card community was as robust as it was, so I was not prepared with pips or a box.  Fail on my part.

90%?  I mean... yeah.  As for the delivery, something tells me this round is going to fail, so I don't think I'll be delivering anything  :(

Well, Brett, I recommend you take this idea to our Design and Development board and bat it around a while over there.  Come up with a 95-100% finished product that's been "peer-vetted" and you'll stand a better shot at success.  It certainly wouldn't hurt that you'd gain some word of mouth advertising in the process.
