Title: Stardust playing cards- what are you willing to pay??
Post by: DarrylDavis on April 21, 2012, 08:48:47 PM
Hey guys i'm new to the forum, I've actually been reading for a while but am finally jumping in here and joining the discourse!

So now about the stardust cards. I've come across a big Lot of these cards for 5 dollars a deck. I've seen them selling on the one eyed jack for 24.99 for the set of two. http://www.the1eyedjack.com/servlet/the-411/Stardust-Casino-Set/Detail
I'm not trying to make a huge profit but I would love to fund my collecting habit a bit. So before I go out and buy a bunch of these I would love to know who would be interested in these if I sold them for 7 a deck plus whatever domestic shipping costs? If enough people are interested I'll pick these up. Thank you guys! Ooh I almost forgot a trades are also welcome!

Hi, Darryl, and welcome to the Discourse!

I moved your topic for the moment to the Playing Card Plethora.  You're asking people what would they pay as opposed to making a real offer of sale.  That's where we banter about stuff like that!  We save the STISO board for actual offers.  A sale offer has to have a firm price, and there's other rules we follow as well that you've overlooked.

Are the decks you're getting IDENTICAL to the ones pictured in the1eyedjack's sale?  Are they the same colors?  His aren't canceled - are the one's you're getting uncanceled?  While some collectors who are into casinos do get canceled decks, most of us around here are into new decks and are only interested in the uncanceled ones from any casino (which tend to be harder to find and a bit more valuable).

When you're ready to make an offer to sell, READ THE STISO BOARD RULES on the sticky topic near the top of the board page and make sure your new topic post follows all of the rules.

Not wanting to make a huge profit is an admirable thing.  A lot of people around here cut deals for less than what you're likely to find at retail or on eBay.

Welcome again, and I hope your time spent here is enjoyable!

never heard of those cards

Thanks for sharing that...   :P

Hello and welcome to the forums. I have never heard of these cards before nor do I intend to buy them. However I recommend that, as Don said, you make sure all the details are the same for the deck your selling and the one "theoneeyedjack" is selling. Other than that, good luck with your sale and your collection!

That sounds so familiar...  Is there an echo in here?  :))

The Stardust is a legendary casino from the early days of Las Vegas.  Opened in 1958, renovated in 1991, demolished in 2007.  It's old-school, right down to the mob connections...

Hey guys thanks for the input. And Yesss these are the exact ones he is selling. They were made the year the stardust was torn down and after the casino was demolished there was  a surplus of decks. I have them in both colors and these are factory sealed in cello and were never actually used by the casino. So no cut corners, markings, or anything like that. Hope this helps a bit.

I'd love to pick up a couple for $7 and domestic shipping... especially since you'd be shipping internationally :)

In seriousness, though; would you consider selling internationally?  Dunno how much shipping would be, is the only thing, probably $10-$15.

If you need to work something out, I can cut you a deal where he ships to me and we work out a swap of some kind like we did once before.  PM me if you're interested.

Kanped, I wouldn't mind shipping internationally. Or if you'd like to make a deal with don that would be fine with me too. Just let me know!

I'd be interested in a few of each colour. Depends on the price really. There's a lot of decks I'm buying at the moment.
It's normally the shipping costs that kill it for me.
Couls you pm me a price for 4 of each colour shipped to the uk?
Thanks
Jay.
