Title: Hey folks.
Post by: Belk on February 27, 2012, 01:16:23 PM
Been lurking long enough and decided to make an account. I focus on cardistry but have a lot of respect for magic. I collect cards like many of you, and I hope we can all get along. :D also I wanted to point out how I think aethercards and encarded are doing one hell of a good job with their decks, and I hope more card designers are influenced by you guys.

Hey Belk, glad you could join. I would tell you about this fourm, but you sound like you know a lot about it.

Since you are a collector, what are your all time favorite decks, and why?

Also, what is your favorite flourish, and which one took you the longest to learn?

Welcome, we are glad to have you with us!!!!!!
Just so we get to know you better, another question: what deck do you think handles best in your opinion?

Welcome to the Discourse!
Glad to have another member with us. Tell us a little more about yourself. How long have you been doing cardistry? And collecting?

Make sure you check the Playing Card Plethora every now and then! It's got some great fresh news almost every other day!

Welcome Belk!! Hope you enjoy it here! So I guess I'll throw a question out there as well  :)

...What is the most recent deck you've added to your collection?

Wow, glad I joined.

My all time favorite decks are a 3 way tie between black centurions, league backs, and wynn logo of any color. I like the backs on all of these so much, but I think the Wynn's are the best for flourishing.

Favorite flourish would have to be Arriflex off of solo, which I'm still getting the hang of :p.

The molecule four took me a long time to learn, because it was really the 1st 2-handed cut I ever tried to get the hang of.

I like the way the second edition crown decks handle a lot, but best handling goes to Richard turner bikes.

I've been on and off with cards for the past year and a half, over the past 2 months I've really picked up practicing. Collecting started maybe right after august of last year.

Newest deck I got where actually madolion bikes, I felt like i should get a few and found a cheap set of them.

Glad you are enjoying it here. Once again, there are no rules so you can just have a grand old time!

Out of the decks you own, I only have Wynns, but I am hoping to get some Richard turner decks verry soon.

Also, I'm trying to work my way up to the molecule cut, but I need to learn the basics first.

Hey, I know I'm off topic, but I've found Richard Turner bikes for 4$ each. Do you think it's worth it, and how many should I get in your opinion?

Welcome! Like alex said, its always better to interact than just observing. That way we can all get to know you better. Since you've already lurked, you might already know the hot topics we have here so just pitch in. We can always use another hand at the Cardistry posts in the Magical Cardistry Bonanza.

Glad you decided to come out of the shadows!

Tip: when buying decks, check the topic on coupon codes that's pinned to the top of the Playing Card Plethora list.  Lots of nice discounts to be had!

Mandolin Backs are a really good and underrated deck, in my opinion.  Coincidentally, Richard Turner was one of the people consulted by USPC when designing the deck.

If you love Richard Turner Bikes, you'll also love the Pro Bikes from CARC - I think the stock is a slightly better grade, and they're available in Ivory as well as Air-Cushion Finish, and they're also traditionally cut (as are the Mandolins).

I usually pay more like $5 or $6, so yes, good deal.  How many should you get?  How many can you afford?  They're a great OUT OF PRINT deck of cards.  Bikes on Bee stock and traditionally cut - hard to go wrong with that combo, for magic, cardistry or even poker.

End of tangent.  :))

Four bucks is a great price for turner bikes. I'd grab a brick of 'em.

I'll have to try out the pro bikes aswell. I do love decks that handle well with out demanding too much attention.

I'd grab a brick as well, at that price...

The Pro Bikes (not to be confused with the Bicycle Pro PokerPeek decks) are like any other Bee deck on casino-grade stock: they'll need a bit of breaking in, but once that's done, you're good to go.  They'll probably outlast any two or three decks of Bike Standards with proper care and handling.

Found them for 3.75 on penguin magic. And on another website 3$ each if you buy more than 30.

That's for the gold seal bikes right? Not the Pro Bikes.
