Hi everyone,
I am Sankar, creator of Scripts of Humanity, a new playing-card project currently live on Kickstarter.
At its core, this is a standard playable French-suited deck with familiar suits and ranks, designed to work for normal card games. The additional idea is that each of the 54 cards explores a different writing tradition from around the world.
The current prototype includes writing systems such as Tamil, Cuneiform, Egyptian Hieroglyphs, Arabic, Hangul, Han, Cherokee, and Ethiopic/Geʽez, with the complete deck planned around 54 writing systems.
Each card can introduce elements such as:
- verified script samples
- historical period
- geographic context
- writing direction
- script type
- material traditions
- a concise story connected to that writing system
The deck is accompanied by an Illustrated Mini-Atlas, which gives more room for maps, timelines, writing-system histories, materials, research notes, and source references without overcrowding the playing cards themselves.
The project is still in active prototype development. The current visual system and first prototype cards are developed, while final printing specifications, card stock, finish, physical proofing, and manufacturing details will be finalized during production development.
I?d especially value feedback from collectors here on the deck concept, card presentation, tuck-box direction, and what you would want to see before backing a collectible deck like this.
