Title: What is this board? How does this work?
Post by: Don Boyer on August 27, 2020, 09:22:01 PM
Hello, and welcome to the 2020 Diamond Awards board!

The topics you see here are all about various nominees for Playing Card Deck of the Year (DOTY) and Playing Card Artist of the Year (AOTY).  Members of the club, 52 Plus Joker, are invited to vote for their favorite nominees, with voting open from Friday, August 28th until Saturday September 12th at 12:01am Eastern (04:01 UTC).  Not a member yet?  It's not too late to join!

There are no new topics permitted on this board - only the ones created for the nominees.  EVERYONE is invited to read and post about the nominees and, if the artist has been posting, you may pose questions to him or her.

Best of luck to all the deck creators!

Is it able to nominate new decks? One of 2020 is clearly missing - Oath Crypt.

Not every club member will agree with the Diamond Awards Committee picks for the DOTY or AOTY nominees - that's why the ballot has a write-in line.  You are free to vote for any eligible deck or artist, as long as their release (NOT merely the crowdfunding project, but the actual release) was made between July 1 last year and June 30 this year and it wasn't a private release (subscription-/membership-only decks count as eligible if anyone can sign up for a subscription or membership).  "Release" means that it was either made available for sale, distributed to crowdfunding backers or subscribers/members or given away as a free/promotional item.  To my knowledge, Lotrek's Crypt deck came out April this year, so it is indeed eligible.

Thanks for the clarification.

Thank you to all the 52+J members who voted in this year's election!  The results will be made public during the Diamond Awards presentation, to be shown during the club's virtual convention on the final night, October 17th.  I could be mistaken here, but I think that portion of the convention is streamed to the general public, so non-members can join in on the celebration as well.

The nominee topics have been locked - if you wish to make new comments, either give me a shout or start a new topic on the Playing Card Plethora board.
