Due out in January: Bicycle Star from USPC.
This is NOT a custom deck, but like the Dragon, should be widely available at a good price.
Not sure if USPC will use standard Bicycle stock or the slightly heavier paper used for most customs these days. It will be A/C finish.
The red star deck will be first, with the black star to follow next summer.
The red deck bears a striking resemblance to the Marlboro Texan, eh?
Here are the photos

Is USPCC releasing decks these much as usual?
Or is it began just this year?
-
Black star! I'll take three! :D
There definitely isn't much effort put into the design, but they still look very nice ::)
One way though...
-
This is kinda interesting. It doesn't seem like a design that I would expect Bicycle to go for. I'm not sure why, but it just doesn't seem like something that they would print. But it looks quite nice - really simplistic, with some nice colours to go with it.
Although, as Moon.exe already pointed out, it's a very obvious one way back which I'm sure won't be popular with magicians and the like.
-
I'm not even into magic, but cards can easily be turned in a deck, and a one-way design really stands out when the backs aren't all in the same orientation, which looks bad in by opinion.
I still really like the design though, I'd just have to be more careful with shuffles, doing something with a single card and putting it back in, etc... And it's still a nice addition to a collection regardless.
-
I am like OCD when playing with 1-way back decks if one card gets turned i freak out i hate 1 way back decks >:( :)
-
If they do nothing else with this deck but make a star back, I'm inclined to pass. Nice look, but this doesn't trump a Seasons or a Mana....
-
Of course not, but if they're a regular in-store deck, it's easy enough to pick up a few whenever you feel like it, as opposed to the collectable decks for which you have to plan in advance ::)

Yeah, but in-store, rare, common, printed in yak's blood, whatever - it still costs money... I can't buy every deck until I get David-Copperfield famous. Until then, I have to choose my battles and select my targets with more care!
-
What are you talking about, if they were printed in a yak's blood, they would definitely be a priority ::)
-
i like the red one.
-
Yeah I'm a fan of the red deck, but not really the black deck so much. They have an Americana deck feel. Kind of western style, but of course the Americana deck had much more time and effort put into it. I might have to pick up 2 of the reds
-
i like the red one.
Well Altair, can you be more specific when saying which deck you like, considering both decks are red. Are you referring to the White/Red deck?
-
The white one is called red start, so I would assume he refered to that one ::)
-
they could have stuck a hammer and sickle on these and made a Soviet Union commemorative Deck!
although I do like this deck...Strangely!
-
Might pick up some of the black ones, though the one way deck will probably end up driving me insane :P
-
December is coming to a close.. shouldn't one of these be out by now

Yeah unless they are releasing it in late January?

Judging from the picture, it looks like we're getting closer to the release date.
I'm actually sort of warming to the idea of this deck. Obviously, the one way back is a big downfall, but as a collection piece, I think the star on the front gives it a certain eye-catching charm. I hope to pick up one of each colour. Nice enough to add to my collection, but not nice enough to bother getting multiples.
-
Yeah I also am warming up to this deck. I really like the box. I think that the thick black lines on the Bicycle logo making it look very bold and gives it a good pop. It has a very simple and classic feel to it. I am still getting use to the cards, but as Lushbob said I'll probably get some for the collection.
-
I have a soft spot for these cards. It's funny because the white versions are the EXACT PICTURE used at fairs and carnivals in the shooting booths. If anyone has ever seen those booths where they tie that piece of paper on a string and you use a BB gun to shoot out the entire star, this is the same picture at every fair. Obviously the star is much smaller at the fair, but the graphics are exactly the same. I'd never buy the deck, but it did give me a genuine smile towards some nostalgia for the day.

I`m not a huge fan of these. They look like someone made them in 5 minutes on Word. add a 1-way back to that and it just doesnt work for me.
-
I read on the Chinese Bicycle site listed with the newer photos that this design dates to 1893 and is called "Margin Star No. 1". Far from something whipped up on Word, unless the designer could time-travel...
Could this have been ordered specifically for the Chinese market? I can see why a plain red star back would have great appeal there.
-
Has anyone come across these yet? They were supposed to be out in Dec

I haven't seen them anywhere except the Chinese USPC site bicyclecards.cn and 52cartes - and here, naturally...
-
Yeah this one fell off the map. Could it just be caught up in the delays printing? Although I would think they would push this one through quickly.
It seems a lot of decks are getting delayed though. Almost as if it's the norm now for custom decks
-
But this isn't any custom deck - it's one of their own. It should be more on-time, right?
-
It still is a custom deck whether or not its from them directly. So I wouldn't be surprised if it got caught up in the traffic like some of the other decks.
-
does anybody have a link to the pictures ??

I like them much better. :)
The cards can be seen at bicyclecards.ca - USPC's website in China.

I don't think there's a website from USPCC dedicated to China, and ".ca" is Canada whilst it should be ".cn" for China.

I got the address wrong, but it was posted earlier in this thread under another name.
Both of these site direct to the same page:
http://bicyclecards.com.cn/
http://beecards.com.cn/
Which lists the Bicycle Star as part of the regular line-up. Considering the red star features prominently in all things Chinese government related, it would make sense the Star deck would be in demand there - but they're not listing where to buy it, except for some chain stores likely found in Hong Kong and perhaps the mainland. Hong Kong would be the only reason I could think of for making the site available in English, unless the site is a very clever forgery - but why bother if the site's not actually selling anything?
-
It's also worth noting (for those who complain about the effort put into the design or that it doesn't seem like a USPC-type design), that this is one of the original Bicycle back designs, first released in 1893.

Still waiting for the black one to come out, anyone know if it still is?

No news on USPC's Chinese website. Have you tried contacting USPC and asking them?
-
It's nearly four months since the last post - is there ANY news about Star in black yet?
-
I'm not a huge fan of this deck. It looks alright though.
