@sxjy0109, the Arrco Service deck is not very famous. The seller is not a card collector, even he saw the page I posted earlier (http://a.trionfi.eu/WWPCM/decks03/d01964/d01964.htm), "SINCE 1943" still means nothing to him, hahaha.
I am not always so lucky, few days ago I continuously lost 6 items... those SOB snippers

So I was angry and increased the max bids of the remaining auctions I was bidding on. Finally I won one deck (actually it's the only one deck) in those days: http://www.ebay.com/itm/130636796796
I was not too interested in the Uncle Sam decks I saw before, but this one... please look at its stamp. The "free-of-tax" stamp is very special to me.

I am have not paid much attention to the vintage card collecting market, so I am not sure.

How much should the deck really cost on the market?
Hah you must have pissed the winner off with the increasing bids! Those free-of-tax stamps are quite rare I think. I'm yet to see one on the Bicycle decks. Anyone know how long it had been used? All I'm aware of is that it was applied in 1946 for the U.S. military.

Lol you're right. But sometimes I want to know the market value just to get a feel that whether I got a good deal or not. But of course, the value of these vintage decks are constantly changing as time passes.

Yeah that's the site I use to date my opened decks too. Otherwise how would you think I got the 1946?

That Leaf deck is absolutely phenomenal!!! We're going to have to talk about that deck my friend!!! It was one of the few early Bicycle Brand decks that had nothing to do with bicycles... It's just beautiful...

The Uncle Sam decks were given to men and women in the armed forces in 1945 so they weren't taxed... You wouldn't find the No Tax Stamp on a Bicycle deck or any other decks that weren't produced specifically for the military... From an eBay listing, "There is no advertising of the maker's name on the box but everyone knew who made 'Bicycle' playing cards. Also, because they were intended for use by men and women in the armed forces there was no tax that had to be paid." Nice Score Digipunk!!! Keep your scope on one for me... Thanks!!!

What little I know of vintage decks, I learned from the same sources you guys use - Hochman and the Internet. And my copy of Hochman is in storage - fiancee's apartment is small.

Damn! 1883?! You're talking about the one on the right yes? I've never seen this deck before.
According to a reference site, the name "Russell & Morgan Co." was used between 1881 and 1885. Did any one of those earliest tax stamp come on the tuckbox?

The left most seem to be printed between 1894 to 1917.

I've always had that question. Between what years did USPCC print their decks with gilded edges?
Easiest way to tell the year of your deck would probably be the tax stamp, but that would only give you a range. Besides that, I don't have any other ways of dating it unfortunately.

@ sxjy... Did you know the guy I bought the 1883 Steamboats from won that deck and an identical mint deck at a country western auction for $130 (Both Decks). Again, there you have an auction - nothing to do with playing cards, and they're sitting on gold and just don't know it... Amazing!!!
