 :( I can't believe this
(ignore the contest part, thats from their Facebook page)
"End of an Era: As of this month, the Tally-Ho Viper Circle Back will no longer be printed - meaning once we sell out of our current stock - they're gone for good. We do however, want to send them out with a bit of a fanfare, so we're giving away 3 of our remaining stock in a mini-contest. There were two major changes made to the box between the first and current editions of Viper decks. First person to tell us what they were wins 3 Circle-Back Vipers. And... Go!
http://www.ellusionist.com/tally-ho-viper-playing-cards.html" -Ellusionist

Well actually I can believe it. It was a great deck but some decks just won't sell forever.

As far as I can remember, I don't think this deck was that popular to begin with. I don't feel bad for the circle backs at all, it's just a tad out dated compared to decks now a days

I really liked the UV500 Airflow Vipers, they felt as smooth as butter. Unfortunately they had the same problem as all the other black decks which might be why they were never that popular.

Not sure why anyone liked those compared to the Fan Backs anyway. I do recall telling people a while ago that they stopped printing these, but nobody listened. :b

I might pick one or two up simply because they are also some of the last of the UV-500. I like the fan back a lot more but I like having the red pips from the circle back, do you think they will start making the fan backs with red pips now?

Agreed!! I think the circle back looks way better than the fan back. It's sad to see these go, but it's not a big surprise.

I sure hope so. E is really good about releasing quality decks! I'm hoping to see two this year, but we'll see

I wonder if E would do any promotional sales in hopes of selling out of the vipers quicker, I hope they do I've been waiting to spend $500 for ages.

I doubt they will. It is just a deck selling out.

Yeah especially if their stock is running lowish they are very unlikely to do a promotional sale, whilst there may not be many left I can't see why they would want to get rid of them quickly.
Mystery is the basic appeal of magic. Once the secrets are known, the magician becomes a mere manipulator, an actor in a suspense drama which has little impact because the audience knows the ending in advance.

I like both of those and they sure do handle awesomely. Some of the best I have, I'd wager. Not really sad to see them go though, there's plenty of new stuff to go around.

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

The only gripe I ever had (aside from the obvious black chipping) about the Vipers was that they weren't traditionally cut like regular Tally Ho decks are.  I had fun giving out a brick of them around the holidays at the hospital.

The Circle Backs were the good ones for playing cards with - the all-silver Fan Backs were better suited to magic.

Are they keeping the Fan-Backs in production?

I guess so. They only said circle back so I think fan backs will still be printed... for now.

That's the main reason that I only bought Circle Back Vipers. As for regular Tallys, I like fan backs slightly more :P :P

No.  As attractive as some thought they were, the Vipers didn't sell as well as the other brands.  No circle backs, no fan backs, no Vipers.

Are they keeping the Fan-Backs in production?
I guess so. They only said circle back so I think fan backs will still be printed... for now.

They said as much on their Facebook page.

Also, for those of you who didn't know, the all-white Black Tiger decks are also being discontinued.  There hasn't been a big announcement yet probably because they still have a decent amount in stock.  Look in the article below from March of last year - Jason Brumbalow states in the comments that "there can only be one Black Tiger" - more seriously, that they're trying to reduce customer confusion by limiting the decks to a single style.  So the Black Tigers will be available only in red/white, and the Vipers will be available only in all-silver fan backs.
