Please welcome Encarded to the Official Company Topics!
Watch this space! Paul Carpenter's company will have many exciting new announcements here soon!
-
Thank you Don!
As our esteemed moderator mentioned, I have a number of projects in the pipeline that I hope you all will enjoy. You can check this thread for the latest news and feel free to ask questions or comment on anything you see.
-
Because it's consistently my biggest source of support after direct visits, if you can Like Encarded's Facebook page you can win some cool things.
-
It would be cool if you did an Instagram giveaway too. I know they are the same company, but Facebook itself gives me the creeps, so I never login.

I probably will do contests there as well, along with Twitter. I know not everyone is in love with Facebook, but it really does drive traffic. :)

Playing with ideas for one of the limited rewards of the Tendril project. I love making hand-crafted boxes and am working on the details of my "MegaTuck"

That word has a great sound, "MegaTuck". ;D

I like the concept, but try making it with a nice, solid paper stock, something heavier than the typical tuck box. I feel that regular tuck paper wouldn't hold up well with something as large as this in terms of durability and ability to retain its structure.
Ooh - maybe a viewing window in it somewhere? Nice for displays!
-
Window doesn't really strengthen an oversized tuck. Great idea but you're at odds with what you're suggesting, unless you're thinking slots which wouldn't really do for display. What I love about the Megatuck is it's three tucks deep. I think he has something planned to do with these. Very interested to see what it is, I already know I want 2 haha.
-
I've got a good design going on the MegaTuck, with a nice feel and a few clever little details that work together with other things. It will be a very special item, handmade, so it will necessarily be a limited thing. I'll post more images and such as things go on, don't worry. :)

I like how it's reminiscent of a classic Aristocrat back without being a clone of one. You've added your own unique stamp to it.

Here's another concept I've had on the back burner for a long time now. I've been noodling the details and am liking this more as I re-review the design. Might print this one sometime soon....

The overall shape reminds me a little of the Crown decks - but that's not a bad thing, and it's not a clone by any means. I'm looking forward to seeing where this one goes.

BTW, hopefully in time for a special release at the 52+Joker convention, my new deck Radia is in progress. It should be pretty darn special. ;D Here's something I wrote about it...
--------------
In 2012 I designed Aurum, the critical followup to Encarded's first deck, Tendril. Aurum was inspired by my travels to Italy and featured dramatic purple coloring, metallic inks, unique edge patterns and high detail. Over the years, Aurum has become a favorite of collectors and the ultra-limited Aurum Laser Cut decks routinely top the lists of most valuable modern decks.
Aurum has always been one of my personal favorites and I’ve wanted to make a deck that pays homage to it for a long time. For several years I’ve had a design motif in my files which I feel speaks beautifully to some of the original design ideas from Aurum, but until now I have not found a way to make this new deck truly special. Luckily, Expert Playing Card Co. approached me last year with a new possibility that I think perfectly accents the design and allowed me to create something brand new in the world of playing cards. The result will be quite spectacular.
I call it RADIA, and it will be (tentatively) released at the 52+Joker Annual convention in October, 2017. RADIA will combine the purple and gold of Aurum in a dramatic new way, it has incredible levels of detail, will be limited in nature, and will be housed in a beautiful but simple box just like Aurum was. I will also be keeping a limited number of RADIA decks aside to create a new laser cut version that I hope will eclipse Aurum in every way.
For now, I will leave you with this teaser image, but rest assured that RADIA will be a deck worthy of your collection. Watch for more information in coming weeks.
Sincere thanks, as always, for the support over the years and I hope that RADIA finds its way onto your shelf in the near future.

Stunning!
-
That does look like a lovely deck. I'm looking forward to seeing it - and you! - at the convention.
-
Just another reason to attend the convention! Can't wait! ;D

Paul Carpenter does great work, and I'm looking forward to seeing his future releases, including this one!
In case anyone is interested in seeing an overview of his earlier work, here are links to the detailed pictorial reviews that I've posted about his previous decks, focusing on the Tendril Trilogy:

Will you have any for sale at the convention itself? At what price?

I plan on having perhaps a gross of them available at the convention, at the pre-order price (or maybe a bit less). :)

FYI that Radia is available for pre-order right now. About half the available stock has been snapped up in the the first 15 minutes so if this looks interesting you may want to visit the site soonish. Thanks everyone. :)
