A Cellar of Fine Vintages / Jeu de Drapeaux & Jeu de Grotesque
« on: February 23, 2014, 10:37:31 AM »
The Jeu de Drapeaux and Jeu de Grotesque are two packs of French cards that were printed in the early 19th Century.  Some time in the mid nineteen hundreds the two packs were reprinted from the original plates. Can any of you experts out there tell me if there is any way to distinguish the original from the reproduction?  Help!

Good Afternoon Fellow Collectors and Playing Card Enthusiasts;

My question is this. Would any of you on this Vintage thread have an objection to my posting every few weeks a few of the great decks that will be auctioned off at Potter & Potter the last weekend in May?  Mr. Administrator, Mr. 52 + Joker and any others, your thoughts please.

Hello Everyone;

I have been collecting and dealing in vintage decks of playing cards and gambling paraphernalia since the early 70's. Bought my first deck from Gene Hochman and haven't looked back. My specialty besides playing cards are Faro equipment and coin-op.  I also play professional poker and have had several cashes in events at the WSOP.

I am currently working with Gabe Fajuri who is the owner of Potter & Potter Auction Co. in Chicago and who you magicians out there know puts on world class magic auctions.  Gabe is branching out into playing cards and gambling and I am writing the catalog for the May 30th. "Devil's Picturebook" auction that will include many fine decks of American and European cards as well as books, gambling items including faro equipment, playing card ephemera, and much, much more.
