  • Charm gets you quite far. Guile gets you the rest.
I've been eyeing this deck for a while. While I'm not terribly on-board with Deckstarter I am really into the design of this deck. I like the strong use of spot red coloring on the black and white deck.
Kickstarter completely revolutionized the way I waste money.

The people who handle playing cards are always in a world of delicate fingertip technology.

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

  • Facebook:
The deck's been on DeckStarter for a while now - at 26 hours remaining they're still $1,750 short of their goal.  On KS, that could be the kiss of death.  On DS, it's practically a shoe-in!  Decks NEVER fail on DS!  :))

There used to be a link that allowed you to see who donated and how much.  Oddly, that list is gone now.  I guess this makes it easier for four-figure donors to go unnoticed... ;D

They still have over 80 early bird offers unclaimed - two decks for $10!

Ok. So...out of curiousity, i tried to make my first pledge on DS. Guess what? They charge a processing fee???

And i tried several pledge tiers. It seems the price of your processing fee goes up together with your pledge tier. It is not an extremely huge amount ($500 pledge tier has $32 shipping US and $15.73 processing fee), but it is still weird to see that extra charge.

Yeah, I have not joined Deckstarter yet, the back of these cards makes me want to though, I have been waiting for an awesome "gothic" style deck for a while...

That is weird, why not just add the "processing fee" to the actual pledge amount?

Wait 2 decks for $10??? That's pretty awesome! Wait, that international shipping fee is not...

I was on the fence, thinking about this deck because the design is kinda nice.  What killed it for me was this news of separate shipping costs AND a processing fee.  It's just a bogus way of charging more money while not raising the deck's price, and frankly, it sucks.

Well you called it Don, it is indeed funded. Can you fill me in on why DS is so different to KS? Can you share why do decks NEVER fail on DS?

One: as far as I know, all DeckStarter decks have been pre-printed before the campaign started to "raise funds" to get the deck made. Where I come from we do not call that crowd funding, we call it retail.  But so far, the Buck twins keep pretending it's crowdfunding despite the fact that card collectors at the least can tell the difference.  It's silly to think that we are "raising funds" to get the deck created when the deck already exists.

Two: for reasons beyond my imagination, the Buck twins contribute to every single DeckStarter project they've posted, usually in the four figures.  If the project is lagging, they usually throw in extra to make up the difference.  This is another key difference between crowdfunding and DeckStarter.

I know when the Flesh and Bones deck got funded, I received an email that they were printed, and would ship soon. I believe it's an automatic email similar to the way KS does, but they need to change it. I guess the decks were not printed at the time. I just received it about a week ago.................but I agree. It's amazing how they all get funded  :t11:
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

I went looking for the list of backers that they used to have - it was a bit invasive, really, listing names and dollar amounts, but it did the same for the Bucks as it did for their customers.  Now it appears that they've removed this feature from the site.  They could argue that it's because of privacy concerns, which would be a legitimate reason, but at the same time it also keeps people guessing rather than knowing exactly how much they chipped into each project!
