"Hello Everyone,

I wanted to check in with you all and let you know that we are still full steam ahead. I just got my digital proofs from USPCC today and wanted to share them with you. Next steps are to receive the final proof and begin printing.

Along with this announcement, because I can show you what the uncut sheets will look like (below), I am announcing the pre-order for the uncut sheets. Only 100 uncut sheets will be held out so there will be 2500 decks and 100 uncut sheets. ALL WILL BE INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED!

For those that will ask, I am keeping the gaffs under wraps for the moment and will be releasing a special FREE "how to" video on how to use the gaffs in conjunction with the deck. Stay tuned for more details ;)

Thank you all for your patience and support and we will all be holding these cards soon. I can't wait!

- Lance"

*** He also has a new reward level on the current Actuators Kickstarter page that includes one of these.

With the court cards like that it's literally impossible to find say the King you're looking for in a spread because There's no suit in the index! I know Lance is a designer but he's also a magician. This just has NOT been thought through properly.

The gold pip at the bottom replaces the pip under the letter for the king, queen, and jack.

Try spreading the cards yourself~ and then you'll notice how impractical it is.

Can you link me to a deck that does this? Or are you doing a simulated image with each individual card in a spread?

This may be a bit tedious but do a simulation of the cards in a spread, then show it to me.

You know what, if you don't want to change it it's fine. I'm just trying to give you a heads-up to potential complaints later.

I like the overall idea, but I'm with you on the design.  Face cards with black pips, number cards and aces with gold?  Varying index sizes (aces are largest, face cards have a single letter next to a full-size pip that's the same size as a number card's index number with pip.  I'm also waiting to see the final print regarding the faces - they look kind of "sketchy" if you know what I mean.  When I heard he was using live people as models, I was thinking, "wow, just like the White Knuckles, right?"  Nope.

Well now that would look awkward if you frame it, with the 3 of clubs just chillin' there.

Also, I'm guessing this is 1 of the two mystery cards that he kept a mystery.

Yeah that's super expensive!! I can sort of understand it though because it is a limited deck and all. I think it will cause a lot of people to shy away from buying one.

I hope it's not $18, like how D&D charged me for each v6 uncut. I don't get why they didn't ship it together, and had to charge me $36 for shipping two.  :-[

S&M V5 are only about at that price, and they're sold out. $95 for an uncut that's not even released yet? Hmm...

Am I the only person on here that just doesn't get uncut sheets... I mean really, who wants to hang this stupid @$$ sheet of 54 of the same backed cards on their wall??? Perhaps on a deck with unique faces, but all in all, I think they are an utter and complete waste of money... I know some of you love them, so don't get your panties in a bunch... But really, imo... what a waste...

I would agree in general. There are a few that I think look great and I'm always down to get those if they aren't to expensive. But I could never see myself collecting them, because I also think it's a waste if they aren't exceptional.

Although I can see how some people see it as the deck being "displayed" instead of sitting in a box.

Some people want to have 2 tubes, it is convenient for them to resell the uncut individually. (I am not kidding, some of my friends complained to D&D and asked them not to ship uncut sheets in one tube)

S&M V5 are only about at that price, and they're sold out. $95 for an uncut that's not even released yet? Hmm...

Though I don't remember well, I am still sure S&M V5 was less then $50 (maybe $49.9 or $39.9 or $29.9) when they came out.

They did come in one tube, but I was charged $18 twice.
The S&M uncut were always sold at $29.95. I meant the market price right now.

I think you got ripped off their. It doesn`t cost any more to stick another sheet in the tube. It is probably too long ago to contact them about it now but you could try.

Those look pretty good!! I haven't really been following the actuator project too closely, but that picture is great! I'm a big fan of those uncuts.

I don't follow the Actuator either, not my style.
loldudex2 mentioned the uncut is $75, it is more expensive than D&D's :o :o

Yeah that's super expensive!! I can sort of understand it though because it is a limited deck and all. I think it will cause a lot of people to shy away from buying one.

I think the price is now $95, which is insane!

That's insane! I don't know why anybody would buy an uncut at that price  ???

There's a lot of uncut sheets for decks released within the last year or so that are selling in that range and higher.  It's not entirely unheard-of for an uncut sheet of a custom deck to reach the low three figures.

What's stopping you from contacting him now?  There's still a record of the transaction in your profile and their records; sounds simple enough to me.

Yeah I know that they are that expensive in some places. It's still pretty insane. I never doubted that they were that high. I've looked around at uncuts sheets many times before and seen the prices. I just can't imagine somebody paying that much for one.

Hi Lance. I was planning on buying 1 artist's edition, 1 black, and 1 white actuator deck off of your website, all at the same time. Do you know when the black and white ones will be available?
Thx,
Nathan

I could be wrong but I don't think Lance is on here. I haven't seen him in this thread at least. You're best bet is to contact him via email. It's more professional as well.

An object or service is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.  No more, no less.  And that someone isn't usually going to be the one with the lowest offer!  It may stink for the uncut sheet collector, but it is what it is.  The entire card collecting market and hobby is entirely a luxury pursuit.

Lance is here as user lancetmiller, but he's only made 2 posts.  I don't imagine he hangs out here a lot, except perhaps as a lurker.  Regardless, email's the better way to go.

Yeah I know that is true. But saying that everytime somebody talks about prices really doesn't make sense. If I made a deck and printed it at 3 bucks a deck and sold it for 15 dollars a deck you all would make a big deal about it. The fact is that the price is pretty dang high for an uncut.

...and if people stop buying it at that price, you'll see the price drop.  Look at those Big Gun reprints - from a high of $50 a pair, sold only in pairs, limit five per person, blah blah blah, to a closeout of $0.99 a pack, buy as many as you want, we're dumping these like three-week-old bread!  It's an extreme example, but in general the market follows this rule.

Your $15 deck might be worth it because it's that beautiful.  Or not.  Your ability to sell it at $15 a pack is predicated on people's willingness to buy it at $15 a pack.  I've seen new decks cost way more and still sell.

The market forces that are irksome for you are that 1) uncut sheets are rare and limited commodities, and 2) demand for them is strong enough that there are people out there willing to pay a high price.  As people are more and more willing to pay strong after-market prices for these things, more of the people creating them will see this as an opportunity for them and raise their initial sale price.  It's not because their costs went up - it's because they can, period, and still manage to sell them.

Sooner or later, though, you squeeze the golden goose long and hard enough, you don't get any more golden eggs.  The market hasn't reached that point yet.

Yeah I understand how the invisible hand works. I was just commenting on how insane the price is (and I know why it is that high, I've been collecting for 2-3 years now).

I would help you organize a protest/boycott against the high prices, but it only takes a hundred or so people worldwide to cross the virtual picket line for the entire thing to become moot...

I'm not trying to protest the price or anything. If somebody wants to sell something that high go right ahead. I'm just saying that I find it almost comical how high some people price uncuts.

You're right. Their prices could be crazy at times. I have a feeling it started off with the D&D or it could be the Arcanes. They, in the start, sell for $30, that's 5 times more expensive than the deck itself. When the market price of say the V5 increased to $20, guess it would make sense that the price of the uncut gets somewhere up to $80 wouldn't it?

The most I could ever see myself paying for an uncut is $50. Anything over that and I concider it a complete waste of money. I feel $30 is the perfect price for retailers to sell.

Yeah I think $50 is a good bench mark. I could see myself paying maybe a little more for an unbelievable uncut, but I have yet to see one that good. I would be hesitant to even pay $50 for one. Honestly there are only a few uncuts that I have really liked lately and I would usually rather just have a few extra decks instead.

I've thought the same thing. It's crazy how much people pay for unfinished products, but I can see how they might be considered more valuable since there are so few of them.

I personally wouldn't pay more than 20$ for an uncut. I would rather have a couple decks of a great deck rather than an uncut. Or I would like a poster. But I just think it takes up space, and although it is nice, it isn't as useful as a deck of cards and it costs more than a poster.

Uncut sheets were rare and special 3 years ago, I do understand why they're expensive. However, nowadays every new deck has its uncut sheets for sale, uncut sheets are no longer rare. :'(
