For me this is it. I LOVE my Jaqk Cellars deck, and I used it for everything. I used it for magic, solitaire, and other card games, so it's had a pretty tough life. This is when things get bad. One day I was babysitting, and the kids wanted to see a magic trick. Since little kids are fascinated by anything, what I decided to do was get a blue Crayola marker, without them seeing, I wrote a "6" on the palm of one hand, and a "Heart" on the other, forced that card and TA-DA! Everything went perfect but when I looked at the sides of the cards the were covered in blue ink, and to this day still are.

What stupid things have you done?

I drop my deck of precious red dragon backs (I love those cards) in a puddle of water, like a serious puddle of water, there are water stains on the deck but it is still perfect, if anything dropping it in water made it better.

Practicing Zarrow shuffles with my Bee deck. I have another one and they're not too valuable but I'm HORRIBLE at this move and the cards are all bent and crimped now. I also broke open a brand new standard Bike deck purely to see how fast/hard I could throw individual cards at the wall. Serious chippage, one or two are MIA on the floor somewhere.

honestly, i try to be extremely careful with my cards because i dont like wasting money. So really the dumbest thing ive done is not wash my hands before practicing; i only do this when im using a deck i can easily purchase though.

When I was beginning of magic.
My cards get clumb and I want them to fan like new again.
And I searched somewhere in google and found that the cold weather can make cards handle better. So,-(With my stupidness at 4 years ago)- I put to it the fridge...
The cards soak all humid from fridge and can never be fan again. T-T

Ok, it's only a normal bicycle, but I believe this was the most stupid thing I did with cards

1. I let total muggles use my Sentinels in a game of spoons.(I don't think I need further explain)

I saw many complaint like this before, so don't use sentinels- just good for collection

I agree. If any deck belongs in a museum, it's a Rider Back deck. The back is so iconic and recognizable, I think it deserves to be on display so people can admire a truro piece of art.

I got the sentinels and I say, I was very displeased with them. The print on the back was EXTREMELY off center, the cards had one of the most annoying finishes I have ever used (909 Premium Finish), and the cards slide off constantly. I was dissapointed, but I didn't expect much anyways. The dumbest thing I've ever done with a nice deck was with my Ghost Deck. I set the Ghost deck near the sink, so a little water splashed, went through the case and onto the cards, making the cards bleed onto each other.

I once got my black bikes and brought them to my sisters gymnastics practice. I set them on the table, that I didn't know was just wiped down.

Another time at the same place, I had my silver titanium bikes, and my little brother used it as a coaster. That happened two weeks ago.

The bumbest things i've done with a deck of Casino Bees was turn them into toys for my cats. I'd flick them into the air and let my cats chase them and play with them and destroy them (some of them at least) hehehehe!

Mine would be more on the foolish side. I took a brand new, newly opened deck of Shadow Masters to work with me and did a couple of tricks for some of the bosses. One of them decided to try and mimic what I did so he can figure it out. I was practically new in the company so I couldn't say no plus I didn't have any other deck with me. My world pretty much went into slow motion when a few cards slipped off the deck while he was handling it and hit rough concrete floor, corner first. They now have a perpetual white mark on the upper left corner of the face to this day.

I think we've all let our decks get into the wrong hands (literally and figuratively). For example the day I got my t11 titanium bikes (they had JUST been released) I played a card game with them at youth group, and needless to say it wasn't the best idea.

P.S. I love reviving some old topics! I saw the name and I thought "Oooh this could be interesting" not realizing I was the one who made this a few months ago

I think that a deck of cards will always be a deck of cards and the purpose of them is to use it for magic, flourishing or card games. Unless you use them for collection purposes, a deck of cards will most of the time come to a not so pleasant ending, like many of the above examples, and we have to except that. Therefore, I always have a few decks that are either cheap or easily obtainable to perform with and a few for collection Having said that, a destroyed deck of cards is also one of the best excuse to get another new deck of nice cards.

Years ago, I picked up HUNDREDS of Jerry's nugget cards at a buck a deck. As a full time worker, I went through 10-15 decks a week, doing torn and restored, signed card effects, card on ceiling etc... (you can see where this is going right?) a buck a deck was cheaper than bikes from sam's club! Thankfully I was one of the odd one's who DIDN'T like using the Jerry's Nuggets cards. So I probably only trashed a few dozen! I also made and sold packet tricks with a top selling magic video of mine in the 90's. I busted up hundreds of Jerry's Nuggets for that! OUCH!

Second stupid thing I did... as many of you know I am producing the new SPECTRUM deck, (a rider back rainbow deck of 54 different different colored backs) One of my pet routines is a color changing deck routine and I end with a "rainbow" deck. Before using multi-colored bikes, I took my little collection of cards, broke the seals of 52 different decks and created rainbow decks, I used up everything from Jerry's nugget cards to other now impossible to get decks.

I still have most of those 52 of those rainbow decks left but to make things worse many of them got some moisture and molded!

Lastly, I picked up many cases of Sam Boyd Casino decks, AMAZING CARDS THAT LASTED FOREVER AND HAD A PERFECT FEEL... (BEE finish)
Those cost me only .25 cents a deck and at the time they were selling them slightly used, but it was the only casinos that didn't mark, cut or punch them! I bought so many of them, that to help me out, an employee got me the decks by the case, UNOPENED, UNUSED! Of course I went through those like water since they were only a quarter each and SOOOO awesome to work with! Sadly I only have a few still sealed, and all the rest are stuck on ceilings around the country!

I had a deck of v3s with me. It was in my pocket, without a clip (stupid me, this was a while ago, and I wouldn't do this nowadays). I got into the car, and it dropped out of my pocket, and before I could react, it was in the sewer. I was able to get it back, but half of the box was torn apart, and all of the cards were ruined, soaked, all dirty, and bent.

Another mistake I did: when I first started out as a magician, I only had 1 deck of bicycle bridge size decks. My only good deck. After using it for about a month or so, it was really dirty. I saw a video on youtube of a guy washing his cards one by one (little did I know it was a 100% plastic deck) and I tried the same thing. Goodbye deck :'(

It's funny looking at the double posts and short comments by MagicAddictz and loldudex2 6 months ago, and see how much they evolved since!

There was the time I bet I could swallow a whole deck (I did but it took like a week, 7 or 8 cards a night).
I created a game called smoke or fire (Well my friend told me what to do cause he couldn't) where you have a load of black cards on the bottom and then a red. You show them the bottom card if its black they say smoke, red they say fire. One by one you remove the smoke cards till they see a red, they say fire you spring the cards in their face. I lost a deck or two that way.

I think the most stupid is I took a bicycle prestige deck and bragged about how indestructible they were... I got challanged to prove this. I did. And then we took up the art of card throwing - and after 2 minutes I had cracked the card. Not turned off by this me and my friend thought it as funny and so saw how badly we could so this deck in. I have many chipping and cracked cards, a burnt card, and bitten card, and many more.

I am an idiot - but I never ruin a deck I buy for my collection.

That sounds like stuff I would do. That smoke and fire game sounds fun, and now I kinda want to eat a deck if cards. I must ask though, how did they taste, and did it negatively effect your body?

Taste pretty plain to be honest, they are very bland and have a weird aftertaste (if you have ever burst a pen in your mouth you'll recognize it) Affects on my body? I was never hungry because they were just so filling, and that's about it. I lived to tell the tale

I remember when I read people saying to wash your hands before handling cards I was like, "Pssh, bunch of wackos" but it is really true. I often find myself in a dilemma about practicing handling of cards. There's so many different varieties of stocks and finishes that you need to practice to get things right, and yet practicing things you're not used to is a sure-fire way to ruin the cards.

Also, although I really like ambitous card routines, I always get a little sad when people take a Sharpie to a card. Even if it's just a regular deck.

Probably the dumbest thing I've done is that at present I just have all my decks stuck in a little wooden drawer. I need to find somewhere less hazardous and where they don't need to be stacked four high.

Well it felt pretty dumb!!!

Someone out there has THIS story for this thread...

so before I knew that the Jerry's Nugget's were of any value, I went to the Las Vegas Magic Invitational, where I had a dealer's table. I brought a couple dozen of the Nuggets with me, planning and hoping to get 5 bucks a deck. A young guy and his friend approach me and ask how much? I mentioned 5 bucks.. And his friend shouts out... HOLY COW you got two dozen Jerry's Nuggets?

those are going for like 75 bucks on ebay!!! Needless to say his friend was crushed and I ended up selling two decks to him at $45 a piece.

Now THAT was dumb!

If you see the intro of some of his videos, there IS a deck of cards being blended, but I'm not sure if he ever posted it.

Dumbest thing I ever did was really more of a simple accident - in the middle of performing a trick, I creased a card in a Tally Ho Viper stripper deck. The worst part was when I tried replacing them, all of E's stripper decks were sold out and never came back in stock - looks like they just stopped making them. It's crazy - the stripper is one of the most basic magic decks out there, and you DON'T offer it in at least a few of your designs?

I've been thinking about investing in the hardware to do my own deck stripping and offer it as a service for magicians. (Maybe that will be the dumbest thing I ever do with a deck of cards!)

It's funny looking at the double posts and short comments by MagicAddictz and loldudex2 6 months ago, and see how much they evolved since!

If it fell in a sewer, I don't know how much a clip would of helped.

Also I was thinking the same thing. When it first started out mostly only MagigAddictz, Phantom, Sinsandman, Alex and I were talking, but within the past few months it's amazing how post quality, members and all around awesomeness has increased. Viewing old boards feels lik an archive into the past.

did you forget me? as MrMagic322? lol I will say i played mafia with a bunch of friends and one of the guys had a little sister, she decided to take my black ghost deck cards and color on them. who put them in her hands we still dont know. or atleast i dont.

Haha, sorry. I looked at the member list and looked for names I recognized from the beginning...sorry for missing you, and I KNOW I missed a few others.

Also, please tell me that Black Ghost wasn't first edition.

Do you think i would use a first edition?? that is one deck i would keep sealed.
