Playing Card Plethora / Re: ORNATE Playing Cards: White Edition (KS)
« on: September 17, 2014, 01:49:09 PM »
I get updates about the project by reading the project updates sent by email. As for your question, the answer is in my post above yours.

EDIT: I sent them a PM and they're on it.

Must have missed that or misread, I thought I had read that you weren't providing tracking numbers. I just searched in my email, and update #29 specifically said:

Quote
Tracking numbers will be logged on our end, but we will not be sending individual tracking updates to each backer for the sake of time.

I don't see anything else in that update about getting tracking numbers via a PM here. I don't have any more recent results about the Ornate kickstarter which contains "tracking". I reread updates #30-#35 just now and I haven't seen anything that says we can get our tracking numbers. I just searched this thread for "tracking" and my post is the first match.

If I missed something obvious I'm perfectly willing to admit that, but whether it's through the project emails I've received or this thread (pretty much my only two points of contact with the project), I've seen nothing about tracking numbers at all except one explicit statement saying they would not be sent.

I will send a PM on KS later when I have access to that account. Thanks.

Looks nice. I hope I'll get the cards I paid for all those months ago before people who didn't contribute to the kickstarter get theirs. You said you shipped everything, but without a tracking number I have no idea where my cards are at or when I should get them. Not really happy with that. I might have bought more if I had the cards in hand and knew whether I really liked them or not.

I'm actually a bit scared that somehow I won't get my cards, you'll run out of extra obsidians, and I just won't get my brick. I hope I'm far off the mark. A tracking number would have alleviated all of that.

Looking forward to this one, class and functionality all in one. Good job.

It just leaves a sticky mess if you peel it and it's all jaggedy if you cut it.

Opening up a deck properly without either of these issues is a fundamental skill for all cardmen (whether gamblers, magicians or flourishers). Use your thumbnail and cut it along the rounded crease. Removing it entirely is not an option because of the sticky goop left behind, and cutting it straight across leaves the sticker to stick to the flap and gum up the works. The thumbnail is ideal to follow the curve and size of the cutout (at least, feels that way with my thumb).

Even though I have absolutely no use for them, I still think seals are nice. I don't really know why. They just feel right.

Really digging this design.

Don't forget the Scammers, the Profiteers, the Fakesters and the Frauds.

That picture with the butterfly knife and the blood drops is just too much... That kind of marketing is over-the-top ridiculous IMO.

Why are you posting the same link 3 times with different names? Are you spamming on Madison's behalf?

The deck says Queen of Hearts.

11
It's a rare item - how often is a prototype of anything ever offered?

How often is a so-called "prototype" manufactured in the hundreds and offered at an "exclusive limited edition" price?

This is nothing more than a money grab off a deck that's not yet up to real production standards.

Heads up, guys, there's less than 3 hours remaining on this, and the embossed obsidian brick box has been achieved. The wait until it makes it to the door is going to be a real tough one.

Less than ~$1k before the obsidian coins unlock. Baby needs a new card cap!

Actually, it looks distinctly like the Wynn decks from a few years back, as well as a number of casino and casino-like designs. The Madison Rounders were made in the same style, but they didn't originate it.

I quite like them, and as long as there's no BS like the Madison cards (marks, ego-stroking design, Madison's face on a court, friend's faces on other courts, etc), I'm sure I'll be picking a few of them up.

Hot diggity! Screw you, wallet! You'll take it and you'll like it!

But really, I like those obsidians. A lot. I love you. It's tax season. I hate you.

Those backs are just dreadful. Looks like the kind of deck you'd pick up for $0.50 at the dollar store.

1.5 hours and $8k+ to go...

Is it wrong how I find it funny that they cancelled the last campaign ahead of time when it seemed they would make it but didn't want to accept the goal they had set, and now that this one looks like it has absolutely no hope at all of being funded, they're letting it run out?

:-[     < me throwing a tantrum if these cards are not made

Get it out now, because with 1/3rd of the funding left and 24 hours to go, I really doubt they're going to make it. I don't know how many held back from contributing after the last campaign was pulled with a very weak justification, but I know I did.

19
Well, it's a deck, except that it's also a gigantic "JJ Abrams never opened his mystery box so you don't get to see anything but a a bit of the case and the ace of spades" cop-out.

Oh, and you get to pay $10 a deck to figure out if you like the design or not.

Yeah, screw that.

We will offer the three colors of Owl Eyes for sale in limited quantities, and this will most likely happen in April.

Any chance there'll be a similar deal for the Sharps?

There are many design decisions here which seem quite poor. However, one of them stands out above all the others.

The designer should be slapped mercilessly for writing the word "King" on the face of an ace. Seriously boneheaded decision there.

I like them, but my name's not Mark. Oh well.

Good 'ol modern-closeup-angleshot, so trendy and cutting edge.

I like the little that we can see of the back. I'll need more than a tease to decide if I want the deck though.

I mean, I'd like to comment, but those "modern cutting-edge super closeup angleshots" make it real difficult to tell what the whole card looks like.

I like the EPCC Exquisites, so if it's the same stock, nice. But I have no idea of what your cards really look like, so, yeah.
