I made this necklace earlier in the year using one of the Artifact Coins from Ellusionist.   I like to wear different and unique necklaces and came up with the idea when the coins first came out.   It’s nothing fancy and didn't take very much time to make but I like the look of it and it has gotten a few comments about what it is and where I got it from.   What about you guys?   Have you taken a deck of playing cards (like phantom1412) and created something with them?   Have you taken any kind of magic prop or accessory and used it for something other than what it was intended for?   I know we have some creative people on here so I'm curious to see what you guys have come up with.   Please do share.

I really like that, I really want to make one, lol. I have made a box from cards. Also I use my add cards as art taped on my wall where I live.
Do you guys even read this? Like I could have the meaning of life here and I doubt you would know it.

Thanks John.   Got any pics of the box you made with cards or even your wall with the ad cards on it?   I would like to see what they look like.

question, for your necklace did you just drill a hole in the top? I was thinking of doing something like this with my Gold artifact coin.

There are alternatives to drilling through the coin.  Jewelers have special round frames you can place a coin into to make it a pendant without ruining it by drilling it.  I have some giant commemorative Canadian coin that my mother gave me.

A local jeweler will be more likely than a chain store to have the right equipment.  You could try a coin shop, but I don't know how good your odds would be.

I recommend getting a stainless steel chain for it.  It's not as flashy as gold, but it's also less likely to break under the weight of the coin and the frame.  If you get gold, get a chain that's thick enough to not break very easily.  I had a friend who was a silversmith, making goth jewelry in the nightclub scene in Fort Lauderdale, and he swore by steel chains.

I have a chain that I will probably use, I will try to find a jewelry shop and see if they have it. I dont think we have a local place.

It's a good idea to call first.  Some jewelers will carry this kind of item, some won't.  It would save you from an unproductive trip.

the only jewelry stores I know are in our mall, and I have to go there already. I also live 5 mins away so even if I did not have to go it would not be a problem.

Dude - that IS your local jeweler!  You have one!  Five minutes away qualifies as "local"!

I drilled a small hole.   But like Don said, there are many ways to to make the necklace.   You just gotta pick which one you think will look the best or be the best for you.   Heck, you could probably weld it on there............but I wouldn't go that route  ;D

Alright, this got confusing quickly.

When Don said "chain store" he meant a store that sells chains (gold chain, silver chain, etc.), and he is saying if it specifically sells chains, the chances are slimmer that they'd carry the casing.

He was not referring to a "chain store" as a store with multiple franchises (McDonalds, Walmart, etc.)

Now there are some chain store chain stores, but that's a whole different story :P
I LIKE MAILBOXES!

Actually I was referring to chain stores that sell jewelry.  Kay Jewelers, Zale's, etc.  As opposed to a small business run by the owner.
